What REALLY Sucks is the episode that I was on is being PREEMPTED by FOOTBALL!! So anyone who was wanting to watch me (My Family back in Iowa for example) now has to wait until SUNDAY November 11th at ONE IN THE MORNING!!!!! They're going to show a RERUN of the Tuesday Episode that ALREADY AIRED instead of showing my episode that would not have aired yet.
Needless to say, more than a little frustrated considering its a once in a lifetime thing and I really wanted them to be able to see it (Most of my family doesn't have DVR).

Sorry, John. What station do you watch on? That seems odd that they would rerun an episode during the same week.

Sorry, John. What station do you watch on? That seems odd that they would rerun an episode during the same week. I thought so too. I live out in SoCal so I'm good (WABC) however my family back in Iowa watches on KWWL (NBC), and they are airing every single episode of Veterans Week EXCEPT my episode. No clue why but they're re-airing the Tuesday Episode on Saturday (11/11) at 6:30 PM while my UNAIRED episode airs Sunday (11/12) at 1 in the morning. Worst part is I have no idea how most of my family is going to be able to see it without DVR's. I'm trying to find the best way to videotape the recording I'll be doing on my DVR so that way I can throw it up on my computer. But i'm not sure the best way to accomplish that.

SoCal, or at least LA, is actually KABC. WABC is New York.
I just checked the listings for KWWL. Saturday's airing is actually a rerun of the second episode of Veterans Week from last season, not this season. Saturday airings are always from the previous season. This one just happens to have the same theme as the weekday shows since they scheduled it specifically for Veterans Day. And yes, it looks like your show is being scheduled to late Saturday/early Sunday at 1:03 AM.
Sheesh, you would have thought they'd switch them so that the rerun is the one to air overnight, or at least air your show on Friday and Friday's show on Saturday at the normal time.
If you need a digital recording for your family, let me know. Also, check your messages.

So sorry to hear that John. Thursday night football needs to die. It's overkill. There's way too much to watch on Thursday as it is. Wheel seems to be getting hit worse with pre-emptions as the years progress, especially with all these sports on network TV now. The time slots it's restricted to make it more prone to getting affected by breaking news or sports than just about any other show. Wheel is only allowed to air in the prime access hour - 7PM ET/PT and 6PM CT/MT. This is right in between the big networks' world news programs and prime time. The 7:00 slot is prone to pre-emptions by extended world news whenever something big happens, and the 7:30 slot by pregame programming for 8:00 sporting events, as we see every year with Thursday Night Football and the World Series on FOX. And don't forget March Madness, which affects multiple Wheel episodes throughout March and sometimes early April in both the 7:00 and 7:30 slots. Fun Fact: the episode that ended with Wheel's third million-dollar win was scheduled to air on a Thursday, but because the win would have been pre-empted on CBS, it was rescheduled to Wednesday. Harry Friedman's reaction to TNF on CBS affecting Wheel and J! more than he was led to believe: "This sucks".
Jeopardy! is more flexible at least west of the Eastern Time Zone; many stations in those markets air it in the mid-afternoon instead of the other prime access hour slot not occupied by Wheel. And in the cases where both J! and Wheel are affected, stations will usually give priority to J! if they only have room for rescheduling one of the two game shows. Here is the NBC TNF schedule: www.nbcsports.com/sunday-night-footballConcerning weekdays, there is a game every Thursday through December 14, including Thanksgiving. For Saturday Wheel Watchers, there is also a game scheduled for December 23. And it looks like there will also be a game Christmas Day in addition to ABC's annual basketball game, which likely means Wheel won't be seen on two of the big three networks that day. Posts of this topic will be spun off into a new thread alerting of TNF moving to NBC and now affecting Wheel on that network.

On Thanksgiving Day, NFL programming doesn't start until 8 PM Eastern, so Wheel will be okay that day in the Eastern and Central time zones.
WDIV in Detroit normally airs Wheel at 7:00 and Jeopardy! (primary) at 7:30. Surprise, surprise, Jeopardy! is given priority. -_- On the affected Thursdays, Jeopardy! gets moved up to 7:00 and Wheel does not air at all, not even overnight, and Saturday's slot is still given to the Season 34 reruns.
I get that J! will be given priority because of its continuity with its champions, but I feel this station is being more unfair than other stations. Thursday Wheel is completely disregarded while J! still has its two daily airings. This is one of the stations that airs the secondary J! run in the afternoon. Would it not be more fair to move the first-run J! to the afternoon slot and keep Wheel where it is? Or at least air Thursday's Wheel on Saturdays in place of the rerun?

I believe there is. edgargamingocean appeared on the June 10, 2016 episode (Season 33 finale). Everything but the Bonus Round was pre-empted on ABC affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone by NBA Finals (GSW @ CLE), which affected Edgar because he lives in the Seattle area and watches Wheel on ABC affiliate KOMO, which refused to re-air the episode for him, so he was able to contact the show and they gave him a DVD master for free. They normally charge $75 for one.

In some markets Wheel and Jeopardy are being pre-empted by a 1 hour pre-game show for Thursday Night Football. Bad enough when the game itself pre-empts it, but a pre-game show? Ugh.

That's how it is everywhere. A pre-game show titled "Football Night in _____" airs on NBC from 7:30-8:20 Eastern. Wheel only airs at 7:00 or 7:30 Eastern and Pacific nationwide (the "prime access hour"). Jeopardy! is not affected in as many places because many stations outside the Eastern Time Zone air it in the afternoon or later at night, but I believe all Eastern Time Zone stations pair it with Wheel.
It's sort of a lose-lose for Wheel. The only time slot Wheel on NBC would not be affected is 7:00 ET/6:00 CT. However, if Jeopardy! is normally scheduled for 7:30 ET/6:30 CT, many stations are moving it up to take the unaffected 7:00/6:00 slot. My NBC station is doing the same thing with Extra and Access Hollywood - the latter is being moved up half an hour to air in place of the former. And because the 6:00 ET/5:00 CT hour is usually occupied by local and national news, there's no room to move the normal 7:00/6:00 show earlier, unlike how some FOX stations were able to move Wheel earlier during the World Series.

Yes, I heard CBS is airing their own game on Thanksgiving. I was planning to make a separate pre-emption alert thread about that closer to Thanksgiving. I'm thankful for Wheel being on ABC for me. Wheel only ever gets pre-empted by breaking local news and very rarely by sports besides the Christmas Day NBA game. When ABC World News does special hour-long editions and pre-empts Jeopardy!, it does not get bumped to Wheel's slot. They usually rectify by airing J! one day behind.

At least somebody's doing it right... WHO in Des Moines normally airs Wheel at 6:30 Central and back-to-back J!'s at 3:00 (repeat) and 3:30 (first-run). On all the affected Thursdays, first-run J! will move to 3:00 and Wheel will move up to 3:30, giving that market the show as early as 2 1/2 hours before the rest of America. On a different note, this station oddly relegates J! to 5:30 AM on Saturdays while Wheel remains at 6:30 PM. Very rare for one of the big three networks to have room for airing Wheel before the prime access hour. As I said earlier, FOX is bit more roomy mainly because they don't have a national network news program at 6:30 Eastern, so a few FOX affiliates are able to move Wheel there during the World Series.

J! might get a little more priority this week since its the TofC final game one tonight that will be preempted on some NBC stations where J! airs at 7:30PM on the East Coast.

Back to 7:30 pregame shows this week. Three more Thursdays to go.
Checked three more markets today: Lansing, Santa Barbara, and Jacksonville.
In Lansing, Michigan, WILX normally airs Wheel at 7:00 and first-run Jeopardy! at 7:30. TNF pre-empts J! and Wheel is unaffected. Despite this, this station airs "Daytime Jeopardy!" (the secondary run of previous-season reruns) at 4:30, and still airs it on Thursdays with the first-run episode not airing at all. Their normal late-afternoon/evening lineup is an interesting alternating pattern of news and game shows:
4:00 - Local News 4:30 - Daytime Jeopardy! 5:00 - Local News 5:30 - Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? (primary; the secondary run airs at 3:00 AM) 6:00 - Local News 6:30 - NBC Nightly News 7:00 - Wheel of Fortune 7:30 - Jeopardy!
Santa Barbara, being a West Coast market, means more local and syndicated programming get affected rather than prime time, though they have the advantage of being able to move NBC Nightly News earlier, just half an hour after it airs on the East Coast. This is KSBY's Thursday schedule:
They also air Daytime J! at 12:00 PM, paired with a single Paid Programming slot at 12:30. Ellen is given priority over their other syndie talk shows. Normally, Ellen airs at 4:00, followed by a half hour of local news at 5:00. On Thursdays, Ellen takes the 2:00 slot normally occupied by The Wendy Williams Show and a longer 1-hour newscast replaces Steve at 3:00.
Jacksonville is a unique case. NBC affiliate WTLV also airs Wheel/J! back-to-back at 7:00 and 7:30. Again, pregame coverage will pre-empt J! and Wheel is untouched. However, this is not a total loss for J!; if anything, it's a gain.
WTLV is part of a duopoly with Jacksonville's ABC affiliate WJXX. According to the latter's Wikipedia article, Wheel and J! air there instead whenever there's a pre-emption (Though I wonder what's going to happen on Christmas Day since both ABC and NBC will be airing sports). However, as of this season, WJXX has added their own regular primary airing of J! every weekday at 5:30 Eastern, two hours before it airs on sister station WTLV. Despite this, WJXX does not do the same with Wheel; their J! is paired with Millionaire instead at 5:00. Wheel only has its sole airing at 7:00 on WTLV. WJXX does not air J! on Saturdays, but WTLV still does, along with Wheel, of course.
Bizarrely, WJXX airs Daytime J! at 7:30, opposite the TNF pregame show, only when first-run J! is pre-empted on Thursdays. They do not air it otherwise; the 7:30 PM slot on WJXX is normally occupied by Extra, which also airs on WTLV at 12:30 PM. In other words, Thursdays give Jacksonville two different episodes of J! instead of the usual two airings of the same new episode; Wheel remains set in stone with one airing across the market.
This is the only station I know of in the Eastern Time Zone that airs Jeopardy! earlier than 7:00 PM Eastern and is not paired with Wheel.

In the Dayton market, viewers have a decision to make...
This is one of the handful of markets where Wheel and Jeopardy! air on separate stations. Wheel airs on CBS affiliate WHIO at 7:00 and Jeopardy! airs on NBC affiliate WDTN at 7:30, following Inside Edition at 7:00. On most TNF-affected nights, including tonight, Jeopardy! got moved up to 7:00, replacing Inside Edition and moving it to 3:00 AM. More brazenly, this puts it on at the same time as Wheel on WHIO, so viewers would have had to choose which game show to watch rather than the typical routine of one after the other. However, for the remaining two Thursdays, most listings show Inside Edition still scheduled for 7:00 with Jeopardy! not airing at all, while WDTN's own site has J! at 7:00 PM and Inside Edition at 3:00 AM as before.
Regardless, some providers in the Dayton market also pick up Cincinnati's FOX affiliate WXIX, which airs Wheel at 7:00 and J! at 7:30, plus Daytime J! at 1:30 PM.

Two down, one to go until this football sabotage is (mostly) over.
Yakima and Tri-Cities, Washington
KNDO and KNDU, which are basically the same station except for different local newscasts, normally air a triple-threat of Feud, Wheel and J! respectively at 6:30, 7:00 and 7:30 PM Pacific. On affected Thursdays, they are moved three hours later to 9:30, 10:00 and 10:30.
Spokane, Washington
KHQ also airs a triple-game-show block with Millionaire at 6:30, J! at 7:00, and Wheel at 7:30. TNF games also push this block three hours back to 9:30/10:00/10:30.
Charlotte, North Carolina
WCNC normally airs J! at 7:00 and Wheel at 7:30. J! remains as-is and Wheel does not air at all on affected Thursdays. However, they do have two weekend airings of Wheel scheduled on Saturday at 7:30 PM and early Sunday at 2:02 AM. Listings show both airings as Season 34 reruns, but it is likely that one of them, probably the overnight one, will be a makeup airing of the pre-empted Thursday episode.
EDIT: WCNC actually made it up by airing Wheel a day behind, with Thursday's episode airing on Friday, Friday's airing on Saturday at 7:30, and the Saturday rerun overnight.
