I've heard that there is no chance to get a picture with Pat & Vanna when you are a contestant. I'm curious what they tell you about that? It would seem that if they get individual photos of contestants standing at the wheel and even a group shot of contestants in front of the puzzle board, then they could have a line of contestants that step in for a quick picture with the hosts. What is the reasoning behind that?

If that's the case, then why is it okay for Vanna to drop by and chat with contestants before taping starts?

Honestly, I don't know why contestants don't get their pictures taken with Pat and Vanna, but the only reason Vanna stops by to say hi is to wish everybody the best of luck and tells them to just have fun. Besides, I don't think group photos are taken in front of the puzzle board, unless it's one of those Great American Cities taping contests, where they take a group picture of the winners together in front of the puzzle board by congratulating them for winning the contest to see the taping. I remember that 16 of my fellow Denver Week players and I had our group picture taken together behind the wheel. Only show I know of that does let you have your picture taken with the host is JEOPARDY! since they do send contestants on the show a picture of them with host Alex Trebek prior to their episode(s) airing, not to mention that they also do group photos with Alex Trebek in front of the game board for tournament games.

Based on my experience taping, I think it's because Pat probably doesn't want to. Beyond actual gameplay, he is far removed from the contestants from start/finish.

I think you're right Raymond. After watching in person I got the same vibe. He heads over to "producer-ville" as soon as he can after they've gone to break.
Also congrats on your appearance and welcome to the board. Even if you're a razorback. 😉
