I made it to the second round of auditions and wanted to reach out to other fellow DMVers who auditioned.
I was called to be onstage during the first session of the Wheelmobile at UDC. As they did the getting to know you portion I went for a high five instead of the the standard handshake. And since I am 6'6", Marty needed to take a second attempt before getting a good one. I think I made a good impression and was invited to go to the second round on December 7th. I did not solve a puzzle during the first portion of the show but I think I called logical letter (only one chance.) I did okay during the written part but was not sure how many I got correct. I was really all a blur to me and I don't recall much of the test. I own a store in Hyattsville and there was an attempted break in that morning so I spent several hours waiting for glass repair overnight and ended up pretty sleep deprived. I did well enough to stick around for the second part and was able to solve one of the 2 puzzles my group was given. I was slightly tripped up when they put it on Free Spin and I knew the solution but caught off-guard and gave a consonant because I couldn't think of a vowel not chosen yet and wanted to give and good letter. Afterwards, I told them a little about myself and said I was made for the show since my last name is Wheeler, I made a t-shirt changing the logo to Wheeler Fortune, and unbuttoned my shirt to show them. This got a laugh and they said why didn't I say so sooner. I told them I didn't want to pop the buttons off of my shirt.
Hopefully I was memorable and likeable although I felt a little off of myself from lack of sleep. I do have some game show experience from being on Millionaire in 2010 and The Chase in 2013. Anyway, pretty new to the Boards but best of luck to everyone auditioning and I hope to hear something in the next couple of weeks!
