Right now, WBZ is not airing Wheel, but they're airing an infomercial instead. Why in the world would they do this? This absolutely makes no sense. I've seen them do this on Saturday, but during the week? Come on! I hope there's a good reason for this.

Boston isn't the only market with a random pre-emption tonight, either. WCCO in Minnesota is pre-empting Wheel with a local special and Wheel has been moved to 3:07 AM. Hm, what a coincidence. Anyway, WBZ or WCCO viewers, consider yourselves lucky tonight...

Another one. KTVT in Dallas-Fort Worth also pre-empted Wheel with a special about children's medical charity Operation Smile at 6:30 PM Central, same as WCCO. WBZ aired the same special at 7:00 Eastern in place of Wheel, which will instead air at 1:37 AM. KTVT used to move Wheel to sister station KTXA when pre-empted, but this is no longer the case now that KTXA airs Millionaire at 6:30 opposite Wheel on KTVT. Wheel is not airing at all tonight in DFW. Jeopardy! aired in all three markets at its usual time, of course. As if we needed yet another way to sabotage Wheel's ratings this season...  My market did not air any such special on my CBS affiliate; WCBS aired Inside Edition and Entertainment Tonight at their usual 7:00 PM hour times. |

Odd, my local station WBRE pre-empted Wheel on Tuesday to air an infomercial. I had called them and the person answering the phone said that someone at the station had decided to not show that episode and Wheel would be back on tomorrow at its regular time (which it was).

Not true. KTXA did air Wheel tonight in Dallas and they were airing promos all day so people knew to go to KTXA Ch. 21 for Wheel. Thank goodness I saw that and recorded it. That's good, then. But what happened with Millionaire, I wonder? Maybe they moved it to replace Daytime J!? Odd, my local station WBRE pre-empted Wheel on Tuesday to air an infomercial. I've mentioned it in other threads, but earlier this month WNEM unexpectedly blocked out Wheel for a Time-Life infomercial five times in two weeks. People were complaining on facebook and twitter, but they never said a word.

It's all about money-hungry television stations. They make much more with someone buying out the time as opposed to shared commercials in Wheel. And they don't get enough complaints to care what the public thinks.

don't know if is also on other Wheel CBS Stations

Ugh.  WBZ is airing another Operation Smile special, too. Wheel's moved to 1:37 AM. Jeopardy! stays put in all cities, of course...  Thursday Night Football may be over, but now we have to worry about Thursday Night Charity Specials in some markets, apparently. As of now, there's no Operation Smile scheduled for January 4, at least not on WBZ. |

Just a quick question here, if a station pre-empts Wheel too often, and Sony catches wind of it, could that be used as justification for moving the show to a different station in the same market and/or terminating the contract with the current affiliate?

^ I think it could. If an entire TV station can have its network affiliation stripped, then ending a contract for TV syndication seems like it would be even easier.
