During my final audition on 12/7, I solved my puzzle in the first part, I got around 12/16 points on the written test (just an estimation), and I guessed a lot of letters in the 3rd portion but got forced "Lose a Turn" and didn't get to solve the puzzle. I also don't think my "20 second story" was good enough (I'm not married/have kids which is what just about everybody I hear on the show talk about). I've accepted a letter is 99.9% not coming at this point, but I'm just curious if any of you in the past have been able to find out exactly what you could have done to better your chances in future audition opportunities.

There's no way to find out. Just consider all the possibilities and improve on them for next time. Not being married or having kids wouldn't have anything to do with it, though. It's not about the story; it's how you tell it. And maybe next time, you might not even have to tell a story since not being asked to stay after the test can now be a good thing.

Well specifically, I got told during my first round that I should smile more even though I thought I was, and was making sure when I was seated to be smiling and clapping 100% of the time. In the 3rd round, I did actually get buzzed for taking too long to say a letter, although I said my letter right as the buzzer sounded and they counted my guess. Those are the only 2 actual blunders I could think of that weren't specifically puzzle solving related. EDIT: Also, this probably didn't mean much, but during that 3rd round, they said to simulate spinning the wheel like you would on the show. I was one of the only ones to actually bend over, and show some effort and struggle into spinning an actual wheel. I remember one woman spun the wheel by doing a motion like she was stirring a pot.

MarioGS is dead on when he says they don't care about the story - it's how you tell it. They literally do not care about the Pat Chat content itself - they just want to see you tell a story well. They DO care about game mechanics in addition to being able to project well, be outgoing, affable, and not at all timid or shy.
Timidness/shyness in general is something the contestant coordinators will steer clear of, even if you play the game well. You don't have to be in-your-face over-the-top excited, but you do need to project your voice well and be genuinely affable and outgoing to have a good chance of being picked - that's aside from how well you do with game mechanics (buying vowels, calling doubles+, logical letters, etc.).
There were a couple in my audition that played the game well enough, but they were shy/timid when doing so, and probably did not get letters as a result. Personality matters.

In general, I am be a timid person when it comes to groups. I projected the best I could and made sure my voice was heard loud and clear when I spoke my letters and puzzles. I even didn't use any ummm's in my speech. But I'll just have to try and be better if I ever get a second chance. Wheelmobile rarely comes here. Thanks for the advice and tips I suppose there is still a chance, a very small number of folks appear to get notified beyond a 3 week time frame, but I'm done checking the mail with anticipation now.

If you don't get the letter do NOT give up. I was twice rejected for Millionaire before being accepted after my third audition. Definitely up your energy but don't be fake. I am still holding out hope that the holidays slowed things up and I recall seeing someone posting that they got the card after over 2 months! BTW is it a letter or postcard?

Oh yeah, so idk if this played a part... But at the hotel the audition took place at, there was valet parking. Unfortunately, the valet driver busted up my car and I was stuck at the hotel for 3 hours after very pissed off and trying to get this sorted out. At one point, I was in the lobby asking to see the manager and the WoF contestant team was also at the front desk. They said hi and asked what's wrong. I was in a very upset mood and told them how the valet driver gave me back my car and it wasn't working anymore and made a comment about how I really just need a new car...
It wasn't meant as a "please put me on the show because I need a new car". My car is just quite old and I do need a new one. But I wonder if that interaction negatively impacted my odds if they thought I may have just been using that as a groveling technique because there's no doubt they remembered me from that interaction.

I am not sure if this has happened to other people but I never got a letter and still ended up on the show. My husband and I both auditioned in December of 2016 and made it to the final round. They said they were looking for couples and we were the right fit. We anxiously waited all through December. On the boards here we noticed others from our audition round had gotten letters. We heard nothing. By January we gave up and figured it was safe to assume we were not selected. Then almost a year later in November of 2017, we each got an email saying our air date was set for 11/30. We were shocked and freaking out. Has this ever happened to anyone before? It was so weird. We booked our flight, taped our show and now our episode will air next Thursday on 1/11. Feel free to tune in and see how we did.
Basically not getting a letter isn't a guarantee you didn't make the show. We are proof of that.
