Hey folks,
Been a while since we had a thread like this, but I wanted to let you know of some things that have been going on around these parts, as it's one of the few things I actually still do.
Before I get to the major announcement, though, I'm going to be perfectly honest...I've been less-than-active on this site for the better part of the past year. I work a full-time day job that keeps me away from the site, and my interest in the show just isn't there. As a result, I completely forgot about Founder's Day, which is, frankly, unacceptable.
Jess and I have been discussing the future of the site lately, and we agree: the time for new leadership is now. We're not stepping down by any means (though expect my involvement to decrease even further than it already has), but with so many of us being busy outside of the site, along with the influx of new contestants joining the ranks of the site membership now, we feel we could use some extra help.
Please join me in welcoming jjman920 and trisspinner to the ranks of moderator, effective immediately. JJ has been instrumental in our social media outreach over the past couple of years, which is crucial to our growth and continuing to find an audience in an ever-changing digital environment. Tris, meanwhile, has done an incredible job maintaining the Puzzle Compendium ever since moving it over to the BAV server last year, which has become an invaluable resource to future contestants preparing for the show. As a result, we feel that they are both ready to take on additional leadership roles.
Additionally, please welcome longtime member and current DPG Gamerunner kev347 to the role of administrator. With the sudden departure of Guinty, we found ourselves with an opening on the site's leadership team, and Jess and I concur that Kev is ready to take on the additional responsibilities. Kev will be gradually handling more of the day-to-day operations of the site while my involvement continues to decrease.
Finally, I want to continue to thank all of you, our awesome members, for making this the awesome place that it is. We're in our tenth year of operation, certainly an achievement for a niche fansite dedicated to a popular game show, and we're continuing to grow. We've seen a sudden spurt of show alumni join our ranks, along with future contestants, and we want to continue to promote this site as a place that all fans can discuss their favorite game show, and a place where future contestants, along with those who want to be contestants, can prepare for their journey and become winners themselves. Change is hard sometimes, but is necessary to continue to meet our goals, and with people in these new roles, we will continue to remain strong well into the future.
Long live Buy a Vowel Boards!
