This is the Tuesday episode of a special "Salute to the Armed Forces" Week.....
*The stage is decorated for this special week. The puzzle board has red, white & blue stars placed on the top and bottom rows of trilons and the curtain has a gigantic Great Seal of the United States prop behind Chuck. The prize platforms were also decorated with pumpkins and gourds are these episodes aired in the month of October and Halloween was vastly approaching*

Let’s meet today’s Armed Forces Contestants:
Tom Gavist: Boatman of the US Navy, married & father of one son
Dan Miller: Staff Sergeant of the US Air Force, married & Father of three
Stan Martinez: Private First Class of the US Army, married & also a father of three
Top Dollar on the Wheel for R1: $500
ROUND ONE: (PERSON)

The game begins with Tom as he drew #1 and he spins up a Free Spin as Chuck hands him a FS token and he takes another swipe at the wheel and $500 for an M, which there are none.
Dan is up next with $200 and a B, no B’s in the puzzle.
Stan goes now with $125 and a D, no D’s.
Control goes back over to Tom as he cheers “Com’on! Big Number, Big Number, Big Number!!!” and $400 for a T, no T’s.
Dan is up again, following in Tom’s footsteps in cheering “Big One, Big One!” as he lands on $200 and an S for Stan, there are no S’s either.
Stan goes again with $150 and a G, there are no G’s either.
Tom steps back up again with $300 and an R, no R’s up there.
Dan is up again with a repeat of $300 and he mistakenly calls for a T as Susan points toward the used letter board (off-camera) and Chuck reminds him the watch for it and that if he calls a letter already called, he loses his turn.
Control goes back over to Stan and $400, he calls for an H and FINALLY we get a correct letter on the board. One H and $400….

Stan takes another spin of the wheel and $500 and a C, there’s no C’s up there.
Tom is up again as he spins up $450 and a K, there are no K’s on the board.
Dan goes again w/ $400 and an N in November, double the N’s and double the money: $800

Dan says “I’m gonna go ahead” as he spins the wheel again but it’s not a good one: LOSE A TURN (but at least he gets to keep the money accumulated thus far)
Stan step back up to the plate with a spin of $450 and a J, just the one and $450 added to his score which jumps up to $850. Another turn of the wheel and $150 and Stan calls for an F, to the dismay of Chuck and the studio audience…there aren’t any.
Control goes back over to Tom as he cheers for the $500 mark and he lands on it! He guessed the W and there’s the one and $500 added to his scoreboard.

Tom thinks about for a second or two and decides to spin again. He lands on $150 and calls for an L, which brings gasps and groans from the studio audience and a dismayed Susan, there are NO L’s up there.
With $800 sitting in front of him, Dan gets giddily happy as he goes for it with $200 and the Y, one Y on the board, an even $1,000 on the scoreboard and only vowels remaining, Dan takes the first round with

And with that $1,000, Dan now gets to spend in in the “Breakfast Nook” department.

Round two begins with Dan and he kicks things off with $600 and a T, there’s one T and $600 in the bank.

Another spin of the wheel as Dan cheers “Com’on, Big One Big One!” but it’s not good: BANKRUPT and wipes out his $600.
Control of the wheel goes over to Stan as he just barely escapes the BANKRUPT and $400 and a V: no V’s.
Tom goes now with $150 and an H, one H and $150 on the scoreboard….

(Susan turns the H over BEFORE it even lights up as she would later be known for turning over letters before they’re even lit)
With only $150 sitting in front of him, Tom must spin again and he does so with $700 and calls for a P, which they are none.
“Com’on, Big One!” cheers Dan as he’s up to spin again and he lands on $700 repeat and asks for an S, there is one and is awarded $700 for it….

Another spin of the wheel and $800, Dan guesses an N for November, there’s one N on the board and $800 more for a total of $1500 in the bank….

Dan takes another swipe at the wheel and $600 and guesses for an R, which we can give him two of and $1200 more added to his score for a total thus far of $2,700…..

Dan thinks for a moment and decides to buy an A, which there are three of in the puzzle, taking his accumulating score down to $2,450….

Dan grabs hold of the wheel and lands on $650 and calls for an L, times FOUR….

With the four L’s on the board, Dan’s score jumps up to $5,050 and gameplay pauses for a bit for a mid-round commercial break and ironically, Chuck does NOT tell the competitors to turn their backs…..
Upon returning frm commercial, Dan buys an I, which there are two of in the puzzle, taking his score down to $4,800….

Thinking for a bit, Dan then decides to buy an E, which there are two of and that takes his score down to $4,550….

Dan buys yet another vowel and the U, which brings disappointing groans from the audience as there are NONE in the puzzle and his score drops again to $4,300.
Control now goes over to Stan as he spins $600 and a J, there aren’t any up there.
Tom, sitting with only $150 in front of him, takes aim at the wheel, hoping to land of a big number but only manages to score $400 and calls for an M, there are no M’s in the puzzle as the studio audience reacts and Dan catches a lucky break!
Dan, the animated fellow he is cheers happily “I know it, I know!” takes another swipe at the wheel but Chuck stops it becuz he “really didn’t put his heart and soul into it” and makes him spin it again.
A full LENGHTY spin of the wheel, Dan lands on $450 and calls for a B, double the B’s and his score jumps up to $5,200 and with that, he goes for it with….

With that $5,200, Chuck takes him over to the “Fashion Boutique” department.

*After Dan buys the Pickup Truck, Susan is seen getting into the driver’s seat waiting for the cue to drive it onto the main stage as Chuck playfully jokes “Let’s see if Susan can drive THAT!” Once Charlie O’Donnell begins to describe the Truck, Chuck is seen pushing it along to the main staging area as Susan steers it around for Dan to get a closer look at it*

Round three begins with Stan, who’s still sitting at the starting line with zero, and he spins $400 and calls for a C, there is one and $400 in the bank….

Another spin of the wheel and $200, Stan calls for a W, which there are none in the puzzle.
Control now goes over to Tom, who is also still sitting at the starting line with zero, spins up the top dollar of $1500 and calls for an N, there’s one in the puzzle and $1500 for it….

Tom pauses for a bit and buys an O, there’s only one up there and his score goes down to $3,550….

He gives the wheel another spin as he cheers “Com’on, Big Number! Big Number, Big Number, Big Number!” and he hits the $350 mark and asks for an H, which there are two of in the puzzle and he scores goes up to $4,250….

With that $4,250 sitting in front of Tom, Chuck stops the gameplay for another mid-round commercial break and this time around, he tells the competitors to turns the backs as the “Big Wheels” theme takes up out for commercials….
Upon returning, Chuck alerts everyone that time is running out for the day as he prepares the give the wheel a final spin by licking his index finger and everyone is rooting for him to land on the $1500….

Winning all three rounds, Dan sweeps the game with a grand total of $6,900 in prizes which includes a Pickup Truck!!!
In the final segment, Chuck & Susan recap the scores for the first two days of “Armed Forces Week”, which the US Air Force is dominating with $12,650. In second place is the US Army with $2,050 while the US Navy and the Marines have yet to score. Susan then reminds viewers that on the next show, the Marines are back to face off against the Navy and the Air Force.
The episode closes out with an Instrumental of the Branch’s Official songs playing over the end credits in place of the “Big Wheels” theme.
