The nominees for this year’s Daytime Emmys have been announced, and Wheel has been snubbed AGAIN for Outstanding Game Show. However, Pat is up for Outstanding Game Show Host.

Though when you stop and consider the blatant favoritism Harry has towards Jeopardy! as of late, this situation isn't as surprising as it sounds.

maybe Harry is like half of us - thinking Wheel is getting too stale Thing is, though...it's partly his fault it's gotten stale, mainly in limiting the prize pool to trips and cars out of personal preference (see this thread for more on that). (On a somewhat-side note, I find it interesting that Wheel's changed its outlook over the past decade regarding trip values - as that thread notes, during Season 25 trips over $9,000 were off-limits due to carrying the risk of causing runaway games. We've seen tons of $9,001-$15,000+ trips since then, with the Wheel values not upped to compensate.) |

It's certainly the Susan Lucci of game shows. It wasn't until 2011 that Wheel finally won for best show, and even that was a tie with Jeopardy!
Shows like J!, Millionaire, and Pyramid have a substance element that Wheel lacks in the form of great trivia writing, while shows like Family Feud, Cash Cab, and The Price Is Right have an atmosphere or variety that isn't like anywhere else, although arguably Wheel falls into the later camp, and that includes road shows in the past, certain gameplay elements, set design, and interaction between Pat, Vanna, the contestants, audience, and even Jim/Chuck. Still, with 57 noms including Pat's 15th is nothing to sneeze at.

Emmys have been a joke for years in all categories. I do wonder if SONY promotes one game show over the other for Emmy Recognition...
