I was watching a Wheel of Fortune episode from November 1999 and there were nine 'P's in one of the puzzles. So then I got to wondering, what was the most amount of times a single letter has appeared in one puzzle? I hope somebody has the answer to this one.

I think the most times a single letter has been in one puzzle was the puzzle Please Leave A Message After The Beep, in which ten Es appeared.

Thanks. Do you know the most amount of consonants that have appeared in one puzzle?

Most likely 9. Which has happened at least twice. The time described above, and an episode from late 1998 that I was in the audience for when a puzzle had 9 Ts.

Here is what I can remember with regards to the most number of times a single letter has appeared for each consonant:
B: I am pretty sure a puzzle referencing Britney Spears giving birth to a baby boy in 2005 had a lot of B's. Not sure if it was 6 or 7.
D: 7 is the record for DIDDLE DIDDLE DUMPLING MY SON TOM - which I can remember from the daytime version back in the 1980s.
F: DIFFERENT STROKES FOR DIFFERENT FOLKS - 6 F'S for a puzzle that was shown recently as of this post.
G: GOING GOING GONE - again, I can remember this from the 1980s syndicated run. 5 G's, and a relatively small puzzle on top of that.
J: GEORGE JANE JUDY AND ELROY JETSON - 3 J's shown on this puzzle, which was on the debut of the 1996-97 season. There was another puzzle that season with 3 J's, and it was early in the computerized puzzle board era.
K: KNICK-KNACK PADDYWACK - 5 is the record for the letter K, if I recall.
M: See "Y"
O: ROOT ROOT ROOT FOR THE HOME TEAM had 8 O's. I am not certain if 8 is the record for the letter O or if 9 is.
Q: 2 is the record, I think. There were a few puzzles - such examples included QUALITY NOT QUANTITY, EQUAL PAY FOR EQUAL WORK, ALBUQUERQUE NEW MEXICO, and SQUID'S SQUIRT.
S: 7 is the record for the letter S. Not sure what the puzzle was.
V: Only a very small handful of puzzles had 3 V's. One such example is HEAR NO EVIL SMELL NO EVIL SEE NO EVIL (not sure if that's the right order).
W: 6 is the record. WHO WHAT WHERE WHEN WHY AND HOW was the puzzle.
X: One rare puzzle from the 2005-2006 season premiere had 3 X's. LUXURY BOX OF KLEENEX was the puzzle.
Y: 6 was the record, and a relatively shorter puzzle on top of that. YUMMY YUMMY YUMMY was the puzzle. It also holds the record for the most M's in one puzzle.
Z: 4 is the record, though tons of puzzles had 4 Z's in them, yet very, very few had 3 Z's.
If anybody can correct me if any of my information was overshadowed by new information, please do so.

One of the puzzles during this week of shows had 9 Os in it, so 9 is the record for Os.

Thanks for all of the help, Jon. And I think I saw the episode with that 'J' puzzle. It was the 15th season premiere if memory serves me correctly.

And I just found a 1996 episode with a puzzle that contains 7 R's. Not sure if that is the record for the letter R, though.
And the puzzle that contained 9 P's, was that puzzle "PETER PIPER PICKED A PECK OF PICKLED PEPPERS" by chance? I haven't seen it, but it is the only possibility I can think of.

There were nine S's in the Same Letter puzzle STUDIOUS & SUCCESSFUL SORORITY SISTERS last night. Wow. And I still haven't seen or heard tell of a puzzle that contained 8 S's let alone 9. The previous record was 7, if I recall. And btw, one of the puzzles in my game will contain 6 K's. Don't want to give it away any further, though.

I broke a record on my Wheel of Fortune over at BigJon's forums. The most amount of letter appearances is not 10 anymore... it's ELEVEN! Eleven 'A's! CAN YOU CAN A CAN AS A CANNER CAN CAN A CAN? That was the record breaking puzzle.
