Season 36 Saturday Reruns

Reminder that College Football season starts soon, so Weekend Wheel will likely air in different time slots or not at all for several weeks on ABC and FOX affiliates.


Over at the other show, Jeopardy!'s Saturday rerun rotation is sticking with the 2017-18 season for at least the first week. Their first Saturday rerun of the 2019-20 season is S34 E93, originally aired 01/17/2018, the final game of Gilbert Collins' 6-game run. Presumably, they will move to a Season 35 champion's run after this.

They're showing his entire run on Daytime J! starting with the first week of this season, rather than airing the whole season in order. If any of his games do air on the Saturday rotation, it won't be until at least November. Personally, I'd be okay with them giving the spotlight to somebody else for a change.

Really? I never saw Jeopardy repeat weekend episodes before. And why are they still showing Season 34?

For reference, these are all the Season 36 episodes that offered trips to the Bahamas. They will probably avoid scheduling any of these episodes to rerun anytime soon.

J! is airing in the Saturday reruns original runs of players who will be in the November TofC

Now that we're in September, College Football and other football-related Saturday broadcasts are in full swing. Several affiliates will not be airing Weekend Wheel at its usual time for the next several weeks due to most games conflicting with the evening time slots. ABC affiliate WBBJ announced that their temporary move of Wheel will last through December 7. Not sure how long it will be for the other affiliates, but probably about the same. This affects Weekend Wheel on all ABC affiliates except for KTUL Tulsa, which airs it Sunday mornings at 10:00 AM Central, already out of the way of the games.

In some cases, a game may be scheduled to end at 7:00 PM Eastern with another game starting at 8:00, with Wheel and/or Jeopardy! scheduled in that one-hour window in between, but one or both shows likely will not air if the earlier game runs past 7:00. If a game show is scheduled immediately after a game, it will likely be joined in progress if there is overrun. Several affiliates that normally have Wheel at 7:00 are pre-empting it with a local newscast that would normally air earlier in the day. Those that put news at 7:00 and Wheel at 7:30 in the hour window between games likely will be forced to run the news for at least 30 minutes even if the first game runs over, in which case Wheel would not air in part or at all.

On days with College Football games, the following affiliates will not be airing Weekend Wheel of Fortune at all:

The following affiliates, including all the remaining ABC's, are temporarily moving Wheel to other time slots during the season, many of which fall on Sundays instead of the common Saturday. Overnight time slots are Saturday nights/Sunday mornings except when noted otherwise.

Time slots marked with  !  are immediately after a game or local newscast in most cases, meaning Wheel will only air if the game ends on time. This is also the case for CBS affiliates that still have Wheel scheduled at 7:00 Eastern. If Wheel is scheduled after the final game of the night, it may start delayed if that game ends late.

Some of these will likely not be consistent over the whole season. Several of these affiliates already have been flip-flopping between two or three time slots, or airing it on some weekends, but not at all on others.

NOTE: CBS affiliates in the Mountain and Pacific Time Zones' scheduling only applies if CBS has a nighttime game beginning at 8:00 PM Eastern/5:00 PM Pacific.

^ Yes, that's another thing stations will do a lot: random PSA's or local specials in the pre-primetime hour. I've seen our CBS affiliate pre-empt ET Weekend with the infamous Operation Smile infomercial several times. But hey, better to do that on a Saturday than messing with a current-season episode of Wheel on a weekday. Some markets could learn from this. *coughNashvillecough*

J! is again airing a Season 34 episode that already previously aired as a Saturday rerun: S34 E225, 07/20/18, Ryan Fenster's final game of his split 8-game/9-episode run is rerunning October 12. Both parts of his run were reran consecutively (with his first loss followed by the show where he was brought back) on weekends from February-April 2019.

Wheel's rerun for 10/12 is 10/05/18, Shopping Spree's Friday episode (Tim/D.D./Emmalena).
