And WBFF wasn't the only station to screw up tonight. Per several fans in the WOF Facebook Group, CBS affiliate WBTW in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina accidentally re-aired yesterday's episodes of Wheel and Jeopardy! No word yet on when or if these stations will re-air tonight's episode. It looks like WBTW Myrtle Beach never made up Tuesday's Wheel. On Wednesday, they aired the proper episode, and there is no way to know if they were planning to air it in place of the Saturday rerun, because it got pre-empted by College Football overrun. I think this week has a good chance of reappearing in summer reruns, though. There were some enjoyable moments and some good wins, and it's not tied to a special date or sweepstakes. |

Update on FOX sports pre-emptions regarding this station:
KHON's 6:00 PM newscast is mandatory and will always run for a full half hour even if sporting events run past 6:00. If this happens, Wheel will be joined in progress (or not air at all if the sporting event runs to 6:30 or later).
Game 1 of the World Series overran by over an hour, signing off at roughly 12:05 AM Eastern. This resulted in WBFF Baltimore and WVUE New Orleans not airing Wheel until approximately 1:10 AM Eastern and 12:05 AM Central, respectively. Any viewers in these areas with DVR should also schedule recordings for three shows after Wheel, just in case.
KHON's mandatory newscast cut into part of Wheel, and the anchors announced when signing off that Wheel would be joined in progress. The show ultimately cut in while the T's were being revealed in Round 2. So Wheel is affected on this station if a World Series game overruns by more than 60 minutes, and presumably, it would also be affected if a Thursday Night Football game overruns by more than 30 minutes.

Game 2 of the World Series overran nearly 90 minutes to 12:27 AM Eastern. KHON Hawaii will probably just run their news straight to 7:00 Hawaii time. If Wheel airs at all, it will likely just be the closing chat, maybe at least part of the Bonus Round if they're lucky.

Good news for Astros fans, bad news for Wheel fans.
With Houston tying Washington 2-2, Game 6 will be happening. No Wheel at its normal time on most FOX stations on at least Tuesday, and if Games 5 and 6 are not won by the same team, it will be the same story for Wednesday.
Unfortunately, Tuesday's episode features a contestant named Amanda Schumacher, a kindergarten teacher for Baltimore County Public Schools. She and her students will not be able to catch her episode on TV unless they stay up through the middle of the night. WBFF's timing for Wheel depends on what time the game ends: essentially 12:05 AM plus however many minutes the World Series game runs past 11:00, so they will not be able to depend on DVR. They might be better off watching bot-uploaded recordings on YouTube.

Thanks, Nationals... Game 7 is a go, so no Wheel on most FOX's tomorrow.
Tonight's game ran to 12:02 AM Eastern after postgame. KHON Hawaii ran the news to 6:32 Hawaii time, and after commercials, Wheel was joined in progress just after Red called the S's in Round 1.
Come Friday, of the past 10 episodes, most viewers in markets where Wheel airs on FOX will have only been able to watch three of them.

With postgame, Game 7 of the World Series did not sign off until 12:27 AM Eastern, nearly 90 minutes after FOX foolishly thought it would end. KHON Hawaii will undoubtedly be skipping Wheel entirely tonight.
At least FOX viewers will get Wheel back on Friday. Hopefully next year, FOX will either start giving 4+ hour time slots to the games, or start them at 7:00 like in some previous years.

UPDATE - FOX THURSDAYDue to Hawaii not observing Daylight Savings Time, which ended this past Sunday, Hawaii is now five hours behind Eastern Time instead of six. This means FOX affiliate KHON now broadcasts Thursday Night Football from 2:30-6:30 PM local time. With this change, local news now airs at 6:30 (or whenever the game ends) in Wheel's time slot. Starting this week, KHON Hawaii will now air Wheel at 8:00 PM Hawaii time on Thursdays. However, this Thursday's airing does not appear at all in listings, due to the listings still mostly following that of previous Thursdays - the FOX pregame show is listed twice, at its old time of 1:30 PM (replacing Family Feud), and again at its proper 2:30 PM, with Paid Programming at 2:00 in between. 8:00 is listed as the affected Family Feud episode, which was the case for previous Thursdays. Starting next week, Wheel is properly listed at 8:00 PM. As long as the games don't overrun to at least 7:30, Wheel should not be affected.

Next Wednesday and Friday will be the impeachment hearings, which will pre-empt a large chunk of daytime programming. Be wary of either:
A) The hearings or related news coverage going past 7:00 Eastern, affecting Wheel directly.
or B) Wheel getting pre-empted with Jeopardy! (which is in the middle of a TOC) if your station pre-empted the latter in the morning or afternoon.
Regardless, Wheel will be pre-empted in several top markets on Wednesday with the CMA Red Carpet arrivals. More info on that coming soon.

Two updates regarding tomorrow's ABC CMA Red Carpet pre-emption: WTVD - RALEIGH, NORTH CAROLINAWTVD will indeed be joining the rest of the O&O's in airing the Red Carpet special. Wheel will air on its .2 Live Well Network subchannel in place of More in Common. However, listings still have Wheel on its regular station. DVR'ers will need to record More in Common. WABC - NEW YORK, NEW YORKWABC will also be airing Wheel on its .2 Live Well Network subchannel. Like with WTVD, the listings do not reflect this (though WABC does list the Red Carpet special in place of Wheel), so DVR'ers in New York should record More in Common as well. Special shoutout to Evelyn, the incredibly nice operations manager at WABC who personally called me to clarify this.  FYI for my fellow WABC viewers, although 7.2 LWN (soon to be Localish according to her) was rarely used in the past for pre-empted programming, they will now be using it more often, and this will likely be the case on Christmas Day with the NBA pre-emptions as well. She also said that WABC will get the word out about Wednesday's Wheel by mentioning the move during the 6:00 news. |
