Season 37 Pre-emptions and Anomalies

The game ran long, naturally. Wheel was not able to air on those FOX affiliates until Round 4. WBFF Baltimore cut into the show during Blue's purple $500 spin for H.

That will be nice, at least. I still have it in this week's table for now since it's still listed, but hopefully it will be taken off by Tuesday. I noticed people on Twitter were rejoicing that Wheel/J! would be back to their normal times in Boston; I didn't know that PAA only lasts for however long the Pats last. Obviously, last season ran until the Friday before the Super Bowl. But WBZ will likely begin airing those off-season half-hour editions again come late April or early May. I still think it's BS how their only solution is to move the game shows overnight on a weekly basis, with only J! having the small perk of getting moved to sister station WSBK and/or re-airing on Saturday in place of the rerun only if a tournament finals is affected. WSBK only has Big Bang Theory reruns at 7:00 and 7:30. Not to mention PAA also airs on WSBK Sunday mornings at 9:00 AM.

WKRN Nashville's weekly football show is over as well, but that show always seems to run only to Christmas regardless of how well the Titans are doing.

WPXI Pittsburgh's weekly football show, The Jerome Bettis Show, seems to have aired its season finale this past Saturday. I believe it always runs just to the first weekend of January regardless of how well the Steelers are doing. Next Saturday's J!/Wheel hour is pre-empted by NFL, but the Saturday after that has Wheel back at 7:30 for the first time this season.

Just a reminder that WBZ Boston will be airing Tuesday night's Wheel early Wednesday at 1:37am right after The Late Late Show with James Corden as WBZ is airing Tuesday night's Jeopardy in Wheel's time slot in order for the State of the city address to air right after.


Also, it is very particularly clear that WBZ has been airing Wheel in the early morning slot for quite some time most specifically when local sports like college football or a local sports show like PAA would air in Wheel's time slot as it has been during the last while so it is undermining to me that locally there are some other stations who air these syndicated shows like Wheel in the early morning hours whenever there's breaking news or some local programming that would unintentionally affect these airings but that would be unlikely in most similar situations.

Due to breaking news on the Al Asad Air Base attack, 7:00 PM Eastern airings of Wheel on NBC and CBS affiliates were pre-empted through 7:09 and 10, respectively, losing the show through late Round 2. ABC and FOX did not cut in.

According to Twitter users, at least some affiliates broke in with news during the Bonus Round of 7:30 airings. One tweet came from Memphis, so I’m guessing it was NBC stations that were affected since Wheel airs on NBC affiliate WMC there.

The several YouTube bot uploads should be fine since most of those come from an ABC affiliate.


EDIT: Various fans in the Facebook group who all live in markets where Wheel airs on NBC at 7:30 Eastern/6:30 Central confirmed this. My DVR shows that 7:30 ABC airings were fine.

KTVT - DALLAS, TEXAS
Due to tornado warnings in the DFW area, last Friday's episode of Wheel was fully pre-empted by continuous coverage on all of the Big Four affiliates in the market. Wheel was not moved to sister station KTXA like it usually is.
