How to check for pre-emptions in any market:
2) Click the "Upcoming Episodes" tab.
3) Click the button with the location marker that denotes the market (defaulted to "Eastern Default Lineup (USA)").
4) Enter the zip code of the market you want to check. If you don't know, just Google "(name of city) zip".
5) Choose a channel lineup. Make sure you get one with your desired station. Several lineups contain stations from neighboring markets.
6) Go down the list of Wheel airings. There should be maximum six airings a week, one each from Monday-Saturday (or Sunday). If any airings are listed at irregular times, on different stations, or are skipped entirely, Wheel is pre-empted on that station at least once in the next two weeks.

Denver market used to always pre-empt Thursday shows due to football, but not this week anyway. That’s why I was so glad I didn’t draw for the Thursday show 2 years ago. They played them at 3:30 am on Friday instead. Really bad for a viewing party!

Thursday Night Football does not come on Fox till October 8. So starting October 8 you will be preempted every Thursday night till December 17.

Heads up for NBC viewers. The US Open Golf Championship is scheduled to run from 4:00-7:00 PM Eastern on Friday. As a result, some East Coast NBC affiliates are making up local newscasts at 7:00 (if they don't air one there already). NBC is also giving its affiliates the option to air NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt an hour late at 7:30/6:30 Central, since it's pre-empted at its normal time. I have only found two markets where these decisions affect Wheel, but it's possible that there may be others that didn't reflect it in their listings.
By the way, I will be streaming WTVA's early airing of Friday's episode live on my Facebook page at 2:00 PM Eastern/11:00 AM Pacific, provided I'm home from my 12:30 doctor's appointment in time.

NBC is also giving its affiliates the option to air NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt an hour late at 7:30/6:30 Central, since it's pre-empted at its normal time. Another Wheel affiliate that is opting for this: WPTZ in Burlington, Vermont, according to one of their reporters. Wheel will air on MeTV, which is still listed as M*A*S*H. Wheel is still listed on the regular station at 7:30. |

ABC, CBS, and NBC all cut in around 7:50 PM Eastern (during the Speed-Up) to report the death of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. NBC coverage ended just before 8:00, CBS signed off around 8:01 (which may have affected the beginning of Wheel on KGWN in Cheyenne and KKTV in Colorado Springs which air it at 6:00 PM Mountain). ABC's coverage lasted until 8:14.
EDIT: Not all stations interrupted Wheel. The East Coast ABC O&O's all did. Searching Twitter shows that KWWL in Iowa (NBC) and KENS in San Antonio (CBS) did as well, and KHOU in Houston cut in after the second Triple Toss-Up puzzle. KSDK in St. Louis (NBC) did not interrupt Wheel, nor did KOTA in Rapid City (ABC), which would have meant losing the first half of the show since they air it at 8:00 Eastern/6:00 Mountain Time.
EDIT 2: Per the Facebook group, KTVT in Dallas (CBS O&O) interrupted Wheel as well.

Additional notes for Week 1:
Friday
- Indeed, there were a few other NBC affiliates that opted to pre-empt Wheel for delayed NBC Nightly News. I added them to the Week 1 post.
Saturday
- On CBS affiliates, only Round 4 (which was not a full Speed-Up on this episode) onwards aired on ones that scheduled it for 7:00 PM Eastern, due to College Football overrunning to 7:18. The same portion was lost on the following CBS affiliates that chose to run local news from about 7:20-7:50 Eastern, with Wheel scheduled for 7:30/6:30 Central: WAKA Montgomery, AL; WWNY Watertown, NY; WCCO Minneapolis, MN; KOAM Joplin, MO; KTAB Abilene, TX; KFDM Beaumont, TX.
- On NBC affiliates, coverage of the Stanley Cup ran until 10:03 Eastern. This only affected Wheel on two affiliates, both of which started Wheel from the beginning instead of cutting it off: KNVN Chico, CA and KNDO Yakima, WA. The latter aired it starting around 7:35 PM Pacific after a full 30 minutes of local news.
- On KDVR in Denver, Wheel began mid-R4 due to MLB on FOX overrunning to about 8:47 PM Mountain.
- ABC's College Football coverage overran almost half an hour, but Wheel was not delayed or cut off on any affiliates that aired it in primetime on Saturday nights.
- KGO in San Francisco appears to no longer be doing their "After the Game" program; it was removed from their schedule last week, and Wheel was moved from 9:30 PM to 10:00, with only a half hour of news after the game and Localish filler in between, so Saturday Wheel should no longer be in danger of being pre-empted on KGO. Jeopardy! was moved from 9:00 (before Wheel) to 10:30 (after Wheel).
- Only one of the three contestants' home markets aired the rerun. Chriseni (red) is in the Nashville market, and WKRN (ABC) aired Wheel on Sunday afternoon at 4:00 PM Central. Big winner Rachel (yellow) lives in Raleigh and WTVD (ABC) is not airing Wheel at all during College Football season. Dan (blue), who is in the WOF Alums group, told me he watches Wheel on WDIV in Detroit (NBC). They did not air Wheel this weekend due to the sporting events on Saturday on NBC.

^ Stations that are airing Saturday Wheel at a different time compared to last weekend are listed below. Otherwise, ABC and CBS affiliates that aired Wheel at irregular times or not at all last weekend are the same cases this weekend, except where noted. After Week 3, I will make a list of weekend times for all ABC's and others. I'm waiting for a bit more consistency. Many stations are flip-flopping between different times, or showing it versus not showing it, and some have a different time slot for it every weekend. |

Updates for Friday, and likely other Stanley Cup days:
Wheel will not be airing at all on KKCO Grand Junction or KCWY Casper, as they are opting to fill the 9:00 PM Mountain hour with a rerun of Dateline NBC instead.
KMIR Palm Springs will air Wheel at 9:00 PM Pacific, as I correctly guessed.
KNVN Chico will air Wheel at 8:00, also as I guessed. Although this is immediately after the game, precedent suggests they will run it in full if the game runs over.
KNDO Yakima will air Wheel at 9:00, not 8:30 as I had guessed.
KYMA Yuma still has their time slots after the game listed as TBA on all listing sites. They will likely air local news at 8:00 and Wheel at 8:30.

Additional notes for Week 2:
Monday
- The NFL game overran until 8:31 PM Pacific, which affected primetime Wheel in two West Coast markets.
- KOTA in Rapid City, SD only had Wheel scheduled in a 15-minute time slot from 9:15-9:30 PM Mountain, immediately after ABC's scheduled end of the game. None of the show aired; Jeopardy! was joined in progress about 5 minutes in.
- KOMO in Seattle scheduled Wheel for 9:00 Pacific. However, their local news, scheduled for 8:15-9:00, ran from 8:35-9:05 and Wheel did not begin until Round 2.
- Alaska did indeed air Wheel at 8:30 local time despite still having everything after the game listed as TBA.
Friday- Wheel ended up airing on WCYB Bristol after all. The high school football game they were slated to air was cancelled due to COVID concerns at one team's school.
- Stanley Cup Final Game 4 went into Overtime. NBC did not sign off until 8:26 PM Pacific. Wheel did not air on at least two stations that had scheduled it immediately or shortly after the game.
- KSBY San Luis Obispo ran local news in all of Jeopardy!'s 9:00 PM time slot. Because of this, Wheel was replaced on the fly with Jeopardy!, and was skipped entirely to Dateline NBC at 10:00.
- KMIR Palm Springs also did not air Friday's Wheel, as it was scheduled at 9:00, but local news ran from 8:30-9:30 instead of the scheduled 8:00-9:00, so Wheel was skipped over.
- KHQ Spokane also replaced Wheel's scheduled time slot with Jeopardy!, but unlike KSBY, Wheel aired in full afterwards at 9:00, instead of the scheduled 8:30.
- KYMA Yuma never announced their post-game programming. Although they usually air Wheel after sporting events, Dr. Phil, which they normally air at 4:00 PM Mountain, was JIP'd after the game, and Dateline NBC aired at 9:00. Phil's normal time slot was not affected by the game, so it's possible they moved Wheel to air at 4:00 or 4:30 before the game (which I know they've done in past seasons), but they definitely did not air it after the game.
Saturday
- As noted in the Saturday rerun thread, the episode was actually 4/10/20, not 12/30/19 as listed. This episode was not pre-empted in any markets during its original airing.
- No East Coast CBS affiliates aired Saturday's Wheel, except for the very few that already schedule it in overnight slots or on sister stations because of local news. College Football and its postgame show ran all the way to 8:00 PM Eastern, so Wheel did not air on CBS's that scheduled it at 7:00 or 7:30.
- ABC's College Football coverage overran almost half an hour once again. KOTA Rapid City originally had Wheel scheduled at 9:30 PM Mountain after local news, but it was instead moved to 9:00, so it did not air on that station. Other than that, Wheel was not pushed back or cut off on any other West ABC's.
- The Dallas Stars won Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final, which means a Game 6 will pre-empt Wheel on West NBC's on Monday. If Dallas wins that game as well, Game 7 will be necessary on Wednesday.
- On NBC, Stanley Cup Game 5 went into Double Overtime, and did not sign off until 9:04 PM Pacific, over an hour late. The following West NBC's did not air Wheel on Saturday due to the overrun: KKCO Grand Junction, KPVI Idaho Falls, KYMA Yuma, KMIR Palm Springs, KNDO Yakima, KSBW Monterey. On KNVN Chico and KNSD San Diego, Wheel began mid-R1 right after the game.
- KSBY San Luis Obispo replaced the Saturday rerun with Friday's new episode, due to not airing on Friday night. The episode aired in full starting around 10:07 PM Pacific, due to local news and Saturday Jeopardy! being delayed by the game. This time, Dateline NBC was JIP'd instead of them skipping Wheel.
- WFTV Orlando is airing the weekend reruns on Sundays at 5:00 PM Eastern during College Football season. This is immediately after ABC's broadcast of WNBA games. Last weekend's game was cancelled due to COVID concerns, but this one overran to 5:08, so Wheel did not begin until Round 2.
- Like last weekend, only one of the three contestants' home markets aired the full episode. Jason (red) is in the Miami market, and WPLG (ABC) is not airing Wheel at all during College Football season. Kelly (yellow) lives outside LA, and KABC aired the episode in full at 10:30 PM Pacific. Clare (blue) lives outside San Diego, so she would have seen the majority of the episode on KNSD, but not the beginning.

That is exactly what they did. KYMA updated their website schedule. On Stanley Cup days, Wheel airs early at 4:00 PM Arizona time (7:00 Eastern, so not earlier than anyone in the East), followed by an early NBC Nightly News, which is also pre-empted by the games. Dr. Phil airs at 8:00, but most TV listings still have it at 4:00. |

 The good news: Stanley Cup is over, which means Wheel will air at its regular time on West NBC's on Wednesday. The bad news: Being the final game with award celebrations and speeches and stuff, the broadcast slightly ran over to about 8:04 PM Pacific. Despite this, Wheel did air in its entirety on all Pacific NBC's. KNVN Chico, as usual, aired Wheel in its entirety starting around 8:07. KSBY San Luis Obispo, despite skipping Wheel last Friday and joining it in progress during most of the DNC and RNC last month, did show Wheel in full starting around 9:37, following a full hour of local news and all of Jeopardy! The others all began Wheel at the listed times. Wheel did not air in its entirety on any of the Mountain NBC's besides KYMA Yuma. KCWY Casper had Jeopardy! and Wheel listed, but they aired a rerun of Dateline NBC instead. KPVI Idaho Falls I forgot to check last Friday, but I checked it tonight, and they are yet another station that thinks it's so much more important to show Jeopardy! in its entirety than Wheel. They started J! from the beginning after NBC signed off, and Wheel was joined in progress before Round 2. I'm going to assume that they did not air any of Wheel on Friday and replaced all of it with J! Personal bias aside, I honestly think it's a bigger loss to have the first 5-10 minutes of Wheel cut off than J! With Wheel, you're losing full puzzles and rounds. For J!, you'd just lose the first dozen clues of the first round, and probably not even the contestant interviews since they don't do them at the top of the show like Wheel. |

Stuart McPherran As of 10:13 PM Pacific, KATU Portland is starting Jeopardy! from the beginning due to the local news being delayed as a result of NBA running over. Since there's more local news at 11:00, Wheel will very likely only be aired from about Round 3 onward. Yet another case of Wheel being screwed over by sports overrunning because stations insist on airing J! in its entirety but not Wheel...

ATTN: East Coast CBS and NBC Viewers
Breaking news coverage of the President's COVID-19 diagnosis and hospitalization is still going on these networks. If they do end it before 7:00 PM Eastern, there is a chance that their respective national news programs will be delayed to 7:00, or that stations may make up local newscasts they lost to the national coverage at 5:00 or 6:00. ABC switched to World News Tonight and FOX has since signed off, so 7:00 programming probably won't be affected on those networks unless there's another national break-in.
