At this time, we do not know if there will be a new set of Wheel's 27th season. However, we do know that the first four weeks of shows in the 27th season will originate from Las Vegas.

Odds are that no, there probably won't be a new set (i.e. major overhaul), but there may be some small cosmetic changes.

Very cool, germanname. It somewhat reminds me of the opening from 1997(?) opening, which can also be seen on the N64 version of the Wheel video game.

Interesting logo. Also, Wheel's 35th Anniversary (35!) is January 6; since that's a Wednesday, we might see something. (Not like it'd be impossible -- the Shopper's Bazaar pilot, both 1974 pilots, and the 1975 debut all exist, proven by the show's two-hour E! True Hollywood Story.)
Mark, could we add a request thread onto the YouTube video section? I wouldn't mind seeing this, Hollywood Squares, Ray Combs, and The Gong Show.
But it's highly unlikely Wheel will do something worthy of its existence on that day.

Agreed. I'd love to see that E! THS on Wheel.

Well, I hope they do something on January 6, 2010. It's a pity that on January 6, 2005, they just had a normal, everyday episode only with NFL players, but I did see the THS about Wheel. In fact, that's how I know about the round one layout from January 6, 1975. If I also knew the second and third round layouts from that landmark episode, I'm sure that'll satisfy almost everyone.
As for the intro, yeah it's kind like the one from 1996 to 1997 where a wheel sprouts from that disc entrance to the Sony Pictures studio, but it also kinda reminds me of the one from 1998-1999, with the light-up WOF Logo just before the open-up of the Studio 11 doors.

Folks, it looks like there will be a minor change for the 27th season of Wheel. The free spin token is now gone. In it's place, will be a space called Free Play. If you land on that space, you get a free shot at a letter with vowels owrth nothing and consonants worth $500 apiece. Vowels, however, will not cost you anything if you call one while landing on the Free Play space. But you only get one free vowel call when landing on the wedge. If you want to call another vowel right after that, you have to buy it like normal. Also, if you call a letter that does not show up in the puzzle, there is no penalty and your turn continues. This should be an interesting change.

^Um...how does that help the game? It's basically the Final Spin landing on $500 minus the $1,000 add-on.
You could just call this "Free Letter" or "Free Guess".......or "Buy A Vowel". Who else thinks this is a horrible idea?

I found a similar topic at another reputable forum-based site (Invision) -- and most of them don't like it, either. This just cements my belief that Wheel doesn't care about its long-time fans anymore. Things like the Free Spin token (stupid idea, really) and Gift Tags just seem to be an afterthought.

This sounds like the "0" Wedge on the French Wheel of Fortune, except that the "0" Wedge was for EVERYTHING.

Well, I'm not really too happy about this change either. Really, what's the point, and why get rid of the Free Spin, a spot that has been iconic throughout Wheel's history? There's none.

A 1 cent space? I don't think so.

Yep, Your Own Clue from the Shopper's Bazaar pilot.
And, I understand your feelings about 1 cent, Mark, but I don't think it currently doesn't have the least worth. Even if it does, it's not the cheapest thing that ever existed. Remember those large numbers on Polish Wheel? It's because Poland was going through it's worst hyperinflation period in history. Compared to today's cent, I believe 1 Polish z³oty from 1993 was worth far less.
