For those who have been keeping an eye on the compendium over the last several months, you may have seen a bunch of aesthetical work going on. To help trisspinner out a little bit, I've come out of retirement from the compendium to clean up some of the pages a little bit. Here's a little peek of what's been going on: - The site banner was broken on a majority of the pages. That's been fixed. - The links to the extra pages underneath all the seasons were always near impossible to see. I took the time to make up some of my category strips and now you can see what's below there a lot better. This includes: - The appendix, which has been slightly modified to include a brand new section on all the goof-ups Wheel made with their puzzles, courtesy of tenpoundhammer , as well as an explanation of the episode count post-Season 37, and a counter to show the completeness of the compendium (more on that later). - A new page that Tris had started a long time ago but never completed, a list of all the choices of categories in the Bonus Round since that feature was started in Season 35. This is still primitive though, I'm still working on this. - A count of how many times each category has been used (although it hasn't been updated lately), and a complete list of categories that the show has used. - A complete schedule of the show showing all special and theme weeks (I noticed there were a few color key errors, so if anybody sees any issues regarding that, please let me know)
- The Celebrity Wheel Compendium will be moved off the main index eventually, and instead be located in a new section called "Other Compendiums," which will house the daytime compendium, the Wheel 2000 compendium, and a few video game ones that Tris had made but never linked to the public. - The DPG Compendium is now fully complete, and has some new buttons on the index to clean up that page significantly. I also want to shout out kev347 by the way, who in order to help out Tris while he's busy with school, is helping to fill in the swaths of puzzles from the late 1990s that still need to be added. He just finished Season 7 and is working on Season 13 right now. Ten years ago, I never would have imagined the compendium at the state it is now, but doing some of the number crunching, we have over 5,000 episodes of the syndicated show now logged into the compendium, which is nearly 70% of the of the run. I never thought we'd have a number that high, and it's thanks to the entire Wheel community for contributing! I look forward to seeing this compendium continue to grow!

If I may ask, how did you find out the other two puzzles (R3 and R4) of the second Byrnes pilot?

More updates on the way! The Bonus Round Choices section is now officially complete (well, with the exception of tonight's show). Another little data mine for you all to dig through. Also, the Celebrity Wheel page has its own choices section at the bottom of its page, as well as a complete schedule of guests. Keep an eye out for some slight graphical updates coming soon to the site...as well as more updates based off WarioSajak 's suggestions.

Bunch of changes and additions to announce! First let's get the small stuff out of the way, minus all the artistic flair that's been added: - A new section of the appendix detailing the State Fair and Lottery Shows. If anyone has any of the puzzles from that, I'd love to see them. - The schedule is now "broken up" by season, hopefully that will make it easier to read. - The daytime compendium is now broken up into three sections, all on the same page. - New page! We now have a page for puzzles from international versions. Since the U.S. version keeps us super busy, we will not be actively updating this section, but I will add a thread in this subforum for people to post puzzles from abroad to help fill in that section. Thanks to WarioSajak for all these suggestions. And for the big news: for those who may not have been paying attention, an insane amount of shows from the 1990s have been showing up in the Video Vault. All those shows are now listed in the compendium, meaning we have nearly completed Seasons 7, 13, and 14, and we now have every puzzle from Seasons 15 through 18! And Tris and I have a lot of people to thank for that: - wheelfan82, the one who's been uploading the episodes. We cannot thank you enough. Enjoy the break you're taking, and we hope to see what more you have in store for us! - tenpoundhammer, who was gracious enough to collect all the puzzles for us. - kev347, who learned the intricacies of the compendium to help us input the puzzles. Thanks to all of your guys' help, we now have over 75% of the entire syndicated run in the compendium. I started the compendium ten years ago now and I NEVER though we'd get this close, ever. It's super exciting! I'll be posting that new thread soon, so be on the lookout for that. Enjoy all the additions!

Something that sounds like it will be a simple Find/Replace task in a text editor:
Season 17 Preview Puzzles (PP, colored ff50ff) and Australian Puzzlers (PA/PB, colored 2828a8) are the same type of puzzle. I'm thinking they could both use a new color code, and if it was up to me, I'd do 007f2f which is darker than for bonus puzzles. Just be careful with the United Kingdom puzzler which is correctly colored now.
(We're not there yet, but once we get to Australia's "Prize Puzzles", those might as well be blue for Toss-Ups and marked as PP* with an asterisk.)

Appreciate the suggestion on the color change, but I'm probably going to keep the Preview Puzzle color as it stands, for a couple of reasons: - I like the main compendium in particular to have a pretty limited color palette and I'm proud of the fact I've only kept it at 5-6 colors (that 6th color was a slight alteration I had to make for the rare Crossword/Prize Puzzle combos in S34-35). - I don't really want to have something that lasted less than 1 season have its own distinct color (maybe I would've reconsidered had I kept the retro puzzles they did over the years, but oh well). - I like having only the BRs in green because that green acts as a nice buffer in between shows, and adding another green would dilute that a bit.
That being said, good point on the Aussie puzzlers essentially being the same as a Preview Puzzle. I will at some point fix that so the colors match more.

You want more updates? You got more updates! After realizing that I was going to end up with way more international puzzles than I realized, they now have there own little spot on the "Other Compendiums" page. As that section continues to slowly grow, we have begun to branch off countries onto their own pages. Right now, only the Australian Wheel has received its own page, but the UK version is getting pretty close to needing its own page as well. Though that begs the question, where did all the video game compendiums go? Glad you asked! Since they now seemed like the odd man out on the Other Compendiums page, and since DPG is no longer active and didn't really necessitate having its own spot on the navigation bar, I decided to combine them up into one section, the Play Along Compendiums. They are now listed in the navigation bar for your viewing enjoyment. We're hoping to bring some more updates to you soon! Tris will continue to work on updating stats for Season 39 and the now thousands of past shows that have been added over the last year. Kev is continuing to work on the Season 6 shows now, and hopefully we'll be able to finish off the missing Nintendo 64 puzzles...and maybe add some more games to that section. Also as a reminder, don't forget about the Q/A Event this Friday at 8pm eastern! I'm looking forward to seeing plenty of you there.

I feel a little bad for getting this up so late from when it happened, but for those who didn't know, esteemed member WayoshiM has coded up a very exciting feature for his wayo.py bot. You can now do deep dive searches into the compendium for specific puzzles, categories, episodes, uses of words in puzzles, all sorts of things! To access this cool feature, just head into our Discord channel. You can access this feature on the social media bar on the left side of this page. It's the one that looks like a video game controller. Please note that you must be a member of the boards to be able to join the Discord server! This feature will help the compendium grow in ways I never could have guessed, and I thank WayoshiM for his hard work in putting this together!

This will likely be the last major upgrade before the 40th season starts, but upgrades we have!
Originally the appendix was merely the spot for me to document all the missing information I was still looking for. Over the last year, it has turned into something far, far bigger, big enough to the point that after several recommendations, it was time to split up the page.
You will now be able to see information about the compendium's completion, as well as missing and incomplete shows on a new page, which you can now find in the season index.
We have another new page as well - I decided to split off another country's version and give it its own page. Enjoy the new page for the British version of the show!
Like I said, now that the offseason is winding down, this will likely be the last major upgrade to the site as we gear up for the new season. I am aware the stats page is still very outdated and needs to be worked on, and I'm still hoping for more recaps or received information for non-Australian or British international versions. Nonetheless, happy Wheel watching!

Just as an update: since we have several different people working on different components of the compendium now, the About Us section in the Compendium has been updated to direct you to who needs to be contacted for specific requests, issues, and the like.

Category frequencies have been updated as of what we have cataloged last week.
This also includes Bonus Round choices stats in the past 5 seasons along with the Celebrity shows.
If you thought Phrase and Thing was being used a lot now, hoo boy.

An update for New Zealand Wheel:
You know how the US sometimes had bonuses for "normal" categories. The puzzles MURRAY BALL BEARING (Before & After) and STARSKY AND HUTCH (Title) had bonus questions. I can't be sure how to write them in the compendium, unlike actual bonus categories with which you can simply write the answer(s) in parentheses.

Hey! mechamind For a sample of how to write these questions, take a look at the Season 19 compendium page to get the exact HTML. I have also copied a sample puzzle below of when the U.S. version used a non-trivia category but asked a question. If you go and find this puzzle, that should be all you need. I guess I could write them myself to copy over to New Zealand Wheel, as this is likely going to be a very rare occurrence anyway.
MURRAY BALL BEARING (Name of Wal's cat in "Footrot Flats": Horse) STARSKY AND HUTCH (One of their actors: David Soul or Paul Michael Glaser)

Attention everyone! Huge news from the compendium! In addition to the regular season schedule listed at the bottom of the index, we now have an even more detailed day by day schedule featuring the contestants from that day's show! I am proud to announce that we have, with a few exceptions, traced back every show listed in the compendium to have this information. The only seasons still not done are Seasons 22-25, the seasons that the esteemed wheelfan82 is still in the process of uploading. I want to give a huge thanks to all the BAV recappers for all their work over the years (going through all those recaps is no easy task), alexb1186 for his handy guide to the early years, and all the other sources I used to fill in the gaps (alt.tv-game shows was extremely helpful in this endeavor). Links to the pages will be attached. I will be working on getting Season 41 graphics up in the meantime! Also, as an aside, we are officially less than 150 puzzles away from 50,000 syndicated puzzles being archived! We should hit the mark in a little less than a month's time! Thanks everyone who has helped along the way and those who continue to read and enjoy our work! 🙂 buyavowel.boards.net/page/compendiumsched10buyavowel.boards.net/page/compendiumsched20buyavowel.boards.net/page/compendiumsched30buyavowel.boards.net/page/compendiumsched40buyavowel.boards.net/page/compendiumsched50
