Sure it wasn't TOM & CARIBBEAN CRUISE?

Figure I'd chime in, since I just got the audition email myself...
I was at the 9 pm Morongo show back in February, was picked in the second-to-last group of 5 to go up. I got lucky and solved my puzzle (NAGGING COUGH DROP, if you must know), but I distinctly remember the lady next to me say something along the lines of (to the host!): "I don't like talking in front of big crowds." Although it was really funny to watch the host run around her and try to get her to break out, I think we can all surmise how she did...
It was a great experience--I'm typing this in a hurry, but if you want to know more, feel free to ask!

^ By any chance, did you see a shortish, overweight guy with dark brown hair, glasses, and a purple Regular Show T-shirt and khakis? If so, that was me.

I may have and wasn't paying close enough attention...
Oh, and since I heard this was a new feature on the boards...

Although it was really funny to watch the host run around her and try to get her to break out, I think we can all surmise how she did... I'm guessing she wasn't picked to move on? Then again, the Wheel audience at Culver City is usually stone-faced, so it's like they're not even there.

Whatever gave you that impression? Also, TPH, if you were there, you may have heard me talk about my college game show, "Mind Games." This is one of the episodes I hosted from last semester (curiously, none of mine from the current semester is online): tv8-1.usc.edu/?p=13112 (I didn't actually start using that catchphrase until this semester.)

Not me, though they are sending out invitations for final auditions in Chicago later this month. Hi everyone, New to the forum (currently a member of the Jeopardy and WWTBAM fan board) but have lurked here before. I will be attending a final audition for WoF in Chicago on the 25th. I submitted a video for the Face of the Fan Promotion back in October and received an email on Friday with the invite. I posted it on Twitter so I'm guessing you saw a few people Tweet about it? Has anybody been to an audition recently? Been reading some stories, but only saw really one audition experience on here. Was seeing if anyone had any other stories, experiences or tips. For the written test, do you get credit for filling in at least some words or is it all or nothing for each puzzle? Hope to have some good Wheel stories myself as things move forward. Also, for those that have been to a final audition, what was the dress code of those auditioning? The email says "casual/neat", but I'm curious what people have worn to their audition.

Hi ten96lt - glad you came out of lurker land to say hello! My first Wheel Mobile event was November 2011, and my 2nd/3rd auditions were March 2012. So to answer some of your questions... The Written Test: We didn't get the papers back, so I can't say how much credit you get for partially filled in puzzles, but I think they are looking at effort. I know that there were multiple puzzles I didn't know the answer to (mostly in the "people" category - I'm bad with pop culture and athletes haha). Basically it's a matter of whether you have basic sense to at least complete a good number of them. Dress Code: See how people are on TV? Good call to look like that at your audition. I wore plain black dress pants and a nice shirt. They're very much looking at who they can visualize being at that podium, so look the part. Most people who looked sloppy didn't make the cut to round 3. Be comfy though - it's a long day. Tips: SELL YOURSELF. I can't say this enough. This means a couple things at the audition - first of all, be enthusiastic. When they ask if anyone can explain to the group what a before and after puzzle is, be EXCITED to answer! Like a kid in 4th grade when the teacher offers candy to anyone who answers a question. Also - KNOW what is interesting about you. I brought up everything from my large family and my motorcycle to my hearing loss and volunteer work. Make yourself memorable. Finally, HAVE FUN. It's really a fun day - make friends with other auditionees, talk to the contestant coordinators if you get the chance, and just enjoy the experience. It's obvious when someone is having fun, and that translates to TV. Good luck!!! Let us know if you get your contestant letter!!

Thanks! Does anyone have a sample written test or know where one is online that I could practice? I'd like to have an idea of what I could be facing.

Honestly? Download the app or get the Wii game and play toss ups. That's pretty much the best practice you can get

I went to the Wheelmobile event in St. Louis yesterday (too busy to make it back today though). I made note of almost all the puzzles, only missing one from each show so I could get back in line for the next session. I added all of those to the list at the front of the thread, so check them out - two puzzles were repeats from other Wheelmobile events and are marked as such. A couple of things to note from my session: > They called up five at a time, similar to what some of the other folks have described at other Wheelmobile events - with room capacity of around 1,400 that's probably a smart decision. > They didn't put a River City Casino wedge on the Wheel, but they did have a United HealthCare wedge on there (the Wheelmobile's "national partner" or so they say), which worked essentially the same as the Surprise with maybe one extra prize offered. > I only saw six categories in play the entire day - Around the House, College Life (yes, really!), Fun & Games, Living Thing, Place, and Rhyme Time. > They would also "straddle" the categories between shows - the category of the last puzzle in a show was also the one for the first puzzle next show. > The travelling Vanna for this show was named Whitney, and was supposedly a former Miss Arkansas. The host was still, of course, Marty, aided by DJ David and some folks from KSDK. > The first show started a little early (Marty said "for all you early birds out there" but really the room was filled up that far in advance of the normal time so they might as well) and it covered 10 puzzles. The second show had 8 and the third show 9, making 27 total for the day. > I saw several people doing some kind of funky diagonal accordion-style folding. Not sure if that was what did it for them, but I'm pretty sure at least a couple got picked that way. While I didn't get picked to go on stage, it felt great to get to be there and I hope they come back soon (or, you know, pick me for the second audition, that works too ). They mentioned that the last time they were in St. Louis was three years ago (for an outdoor event), but I'm hoping the brand-new event center where things were held this year makes it more convenient for them to return sooner than 2016.

This was a different Whitney than I saw in Syracuse and Terre Haute. Also, Scott, no mention that you met me? For shame. I actually got onstage on Sunday.

What can I say? My memory only serves me under protest - it's bucking for a Section 8.

Syracuse and Terre Haute had Tracey Wilson. She does most of the northeast events. KC had Morgan.

Why? Is it because you're too close friends with Mark Corwin?
