I could have sworn that TF1 were nice enough people to put up full episodes of LRdlF on their website. Have things changed since?
Edited to add: The set looks very art deco to me because of the font. It's a nice change to the dark set plus bright lights, though.

just watched the first episode! it's a daytime edition, so it's cheaper than the previous nighttime one.
here's the wheel configuration, in counterclockwise order:
(1) 300 (2) bankrupt (3) 100 (4) 200 (5) 100 (6) 50 (7) 150 (8) 100 (9) 0 (10) 250 (11) 100 (12) bankrupt (13) 50 (14) 150 (15) 200 (16) 100 (17) 150 (18) 100 (19) 50 (20) 150 (21) 100 (22) lose a turn (23) 200 (24) 50
4 rounds, each begins with a toss-up to see who goes first (no money at stake). if a puzzle is a question, the solver can try to answer it for an additional E100. vowels cost E100. the bonus wheel has cash prizes up to E30,000 or an electric car.
space 19 begins with a "half gift" token on it. who lands there picks it up and then calls a consonant for E50. who picks two of those tokens wins a prize. (it was not explained what happens if two contestants get two tokens each or if one contestant gets four tokens)
starting with round 2, space 17 becomes a bankrupt space
in round 1 spaces 9 and 24 are covered by "mystery" wedges. they pay E50 for each consonant or give a 50:50 chance to win E500 or to get bankrupted. when one is revealed, the other one is also removed.
round 2 has the "cavern" mini-game on space 14. who lands on it has 30 seconds to grab prizes from the stage without going over E1,500 in value. then the contestant can call a consonant for E150
round 3 has the new "flash cash" wedge on space 3. who lands on it has 10 seconds to solve the puzzle for an additional E1,000 minus E100 for each second spent solving.
round 4 has the "weekend" (trip) wedge on 15, the "hold up" (rob an opponent) wedge on 9 and the "bankrupt/E60K/bankrupt" wedge on 2. if the winner of the episode has claimed that wedge, the top bonus prize doubles to E60,000
the bonus round works exactly like in the US (RSTLNE+3 consonants+1 wovel)
(is it just me who can't get the euro symbol displayed on this forum? --> € )

I was wondering how that Flash Cash worked. At first I was enthusiastic about it, but now that I know how it works, I'm quite uneasy about it. If you land on it, even at the beginning of the round, you have no choice but to solve it, I presume?
BTW, where did you see the first episode? Online or on TV? If online, which site?

Can we talk about that puzzleboard though. It's freaking hideous. Not too mention that the way the new girl does it looks really sloppy. I'm kinda on the fence about the whole thing.

You can watch Wheel on TF1 by setting up a proxy server on whatever browser you're using

Will the proxy servers settle the issue? The thing is I'm in the U.S. and I'm trying to see some of these videos. The problem is wat.tv airs the videos officially if I'm correct, and apparently they are not letting Americans watch them. That's the actual issue I'm having.

Yeah the proxy server should settle everything. That's how I've been watching each day's episode.

Hmm. I wonder how you set up those proxy servers then. Now besides that, there's a good reason why I'm bumping this thread back up. Although it was uploaded back on July 7, I didn't find this until yesterday - the premiere of the third version of "La Roue" from December 8, 1995. The action starts at 9:24 in the following clip. Check out how the scoring podiums are set up. By 1996, they were set up like most others (including ours) were. www.dailymotion.com/video/xs0rnt_tf1-8-decembre-1995_tv?search_algo=1DailyMotion tends to have a lot of French Wheel clips from the 1990s. I prefer searching for "La Roue de la Fortune" videos there instead of over at YouTube. In case I didn't provide it at first, here's another collection of "TF1" stuff from March 30, 1994, which includes the beginning of an episode from the second version of French Wheel. "La Roue" starts at 7:12 in this clip. www.dailymotion.com/video/x4552b_tf1-mercredi-30-mars-1994_fun?search_algo=1

Talk about a major downgrade in sets between the two versions.

I know. You check out the 1993-1994 version. It's my favorite era for French Wheel and a lot of other versions too, including the American version. Then you check out the 1995 version. All they add is a Surprise wedge in round 2. I also found out through other French Wheel clips on DailyMotion that the 1995 version apparently doesn't even increase it's top franc value of 3000.
I've yet to see beyond round two in the 1993 version, but you can bet I'm dying to see how the layouts look like from round 3 onward.

That was a hard as heck puzzle in the 1995 episode. I know some French, and I only figured it out once the "only vowels left" bells went off.
ETA: Interesting how in the 1994 episode, the host does not announce the amount spun. He's very quiet in the actual gameplay, actually.

Oh, sweet! Finally, an episode from the 90s at YouTube! ;D
I made the first round layout already, but now it's time to make some more layouts, complete with a Surprise space, a magenta 5000F space, and a silver 10,000F space!
Now apparently the host determines the bonus amount or what? Any French Wheel lovers that can speak French, may you please tell me how the bonus round works if you can? Thanks in advance.
Also, I notice a shopping element, rather short each round for some reason too.

I don't speak French but what I gathered was that his spin was to determine a home player amount. Probably like a daily sweeps type thing like the Filipino version did. I say this because none of the values were above 1000F. I'm pretty sure that living room set that was on the turn table was the bonus prize.

I should've showed this stuff to you guys sooner. www.eighties.fr/television/729-la-roue-de-la-fortunewww.metronews.fr/culture/un-nouveau-tour-de-roue/plac!OREkVORHGnzW7XatbwpaHA/ If you see one of the photos of the 1987 puzzle board, you'll see it doesn't have the typewriter font that it would later have. I'm also trying to find a video or some proof that showed what the backdrops looked like when the show first premiered on TF1. I can't find it at the moment, but what I can do is tell you that the backdrops weren't in the 16-wedge Wheel style but simply vertical strips protruding out of a bronze (as opposed to beige) background. They were still color-coded for each contestant podium.

Okay. Found a video with the strips background. You'll need to go to end to see it.

What type of electric car was it in the 2012 version?
