Well, when I think of my own layouts, these are guidelines I use (concerning the current layout color scheme and style) because IMO I don't think they look nice...:
- No adjacent pairs of red and orange wedges or orange and yellow.
- No yellow wedges next to Lose a Turn.
- No adjacent 3-digit values with the same first digit.
- No adjacent 4-digit values.
- No blue wedges next to 2500.
- No red wedges next to 3500.
- No wedges of the same color less than 3 wedges apart.
- No repeating "pattern" of the colors.
- Make sure no removable full-size cardboard (Prize, Mystery, MDW, $10K) is surrounded by full-size add-on wedges on both sides, as on the real show, they would be too hard to lift off the Wheel.
- No full-size add-ons next to a 1/2 Car tag, as the tag extends on to the adjacent wedges.
- Make sure the MDW/$10K isn't too close to a regular Bankrupt, except if you want it to cover one.
- Make sure the penalties and all add-ons are spaced pretty evenly so there isn't such a huge "empty" area.
- Always have at least one each of Bankrupt and Lose a Turn, and have at least two Bankrupts on by Round 4.
- Keep an even color balance. See if you can have at least two wedges of a color visible (not covered by full-size add-ons) at all times.
- Of course, have a good variety in values, but don't have any cash wedge more than half of the top dollar value on the Wheel during its round, unless you plan on using 1000 as the top value for old times' sake.

Thank you, much appreciated! Also, I got to thinking, would blue/green conflict in the same manner you mention red/orange and orange/yellow conflicting? Wasn't quite sure about that one...

No, because the actual show does that. I just avoid red/orange and orange/yellow because I don't think they look nice next to each other.

I tell you, those conceptual Shopper's Bazaar layouts would be far more challenging than the actual. Especially the second one.
Also I'm sure you didn't mind someone using your "Cash Roulette" layout for a Slip Mat skin to be sold on eBay, or did you permit someone to use one?
