Um...how is it nitpicking? And which?
If you're referring to the Toss-Up thing, I was thinking about the "last" time a Toss-Up device malfunctioned, which was on Sanam's episode, and how the show seemed to miss it.
If you're referring to the audiences, it's been pointed out here many times by Mario (among others) that the Culver City audience barely responds to anything a lot of the time, and when they do it tends to be inconsistent from day to day. All I did was point out a picture of a bored-looking audience and another picture showing a small "applause" sign, which Sanam's comment seems to suggest as being the only applause sign they use.

To be fair, there is another applause sign in one of the other pictures (I'm not going to link it because the picture and description contain gameplay spoilers). In the one showing one of the monitors, you can see the kind of sign that lights up, though apparently that one is inconsistent unlike the posterboard one. ===== She hasn't posted it here yet, but kaytei/Kathryn's episode will air Thursday, February 21st, according to her Tumblr. Hope things played out well!

You can't tell an audience is bored from one screenshot, and a damn sign means nothing.

Jim's dressed for the occasion. Turns out he always wears a tie that reflects the theme. As if there wasn't enough theme-ing going on the studio already.

The Face of the Fan audition page confirms "Best Friends" week for New York, which they also did in S25. They do mention individual contestants as well, so hopefully there will be a normal NY Week this time. That leaves two more weeks. Any guesses as to what they are? I'm going to say Heroes Week and College Week (it would be really disappointing not to have a College Week this season, and having it in Culver City is boring. Plus, it has yet to be done in NY). Back in S25, the NY weeks were Best Friends, Heroes, and Celebrity Week. As for the third, if anything this year, Wheel, only celebrities playing and no team-ups with regular contestants, please.

You and I both know that Wheel would rather not have celebrities play the game, especially on their own. By the way, is "Why don't celebrities play anymore?" one of the questions you submitted to "Ask Pat & Vanna"? Julie Chen of "The Talk" and wife of CBS president Leslie Moonves stopped by the Wheel set... Chen looks really, really fake -- "mannequin" fake.

You can't tell an audience is bored from one screenshot, and a damn sign means nothing. I agree its really hard to determine whether or not the audience is bored or not. For the record I've been to two tapings in Culver City (going to my 3rd next week). Whenever you see the clips of the audience clapping as Pat & Vanna are introduced or during the credits those are all edited into the final broadcast. A cameraman usually comes up in between episodes and they prompt the audience to yell, holler, cheer, and clap. The only time the audience is seen in 'real time' is when Pat asks the bonus round contestant whose in the audience rooting them on. Here's what I will say for anybody thinking an audience is bored. I've been to dozens of TV shows and let me say out of all of them Wheel of Fortune zaps the energy right out of you. Most shows I've been to you clap and cheer during the intro, in and out of breaks, and of course during the credits. With Wheel of Fortune its absolutely constant. You're clapping during the intro, every time a contestant guesses a correct letter, spins the wheel, solves the puzzles, during prize descriptions. Its been my experience the two times being in the audience that they've gone up to the audience during the commercials encouraging them to perk up a little. I don't know if anybody else feels the same way I do. When I was there last year I asked if I could stay for the second set of tapings which they agreed to but I regretted it because they demanded the same level of energy. By the 6th show I was exhausted. Clapping isn't the hardest task in the world but when you're doing it for 3 hours non-stop it does get to be tiresome.

Totally agree with you on that, freespin. You're pretty much clapping for the entire show once taping begins. Having attended a taping last summer, I better appreciate now how much clapping the audience has to do. Contestant spins (clap), contestant calls right letter (clap), contestant buys vowel (clap), contestant spins again (clap), contestant solves (clap).

Thanks for your input, Arthur (that's your name, right?). I didn't know that most of those shots were filmed separately and added in post. Now, if only they would do that with the audio instead of using a SFX package... Oh, I thought I saw somewhere that you were going to the November 30th tapings. Is that right? Have fun! But the thing is, until recently, "contestant lands on something good" was part of that list, and the crowd really didn't seem to have a problem with the excessive clapping. Watch an episode from 1997 and you'll hear what I mean. The clapping today sounds forced and the tradition of applauding and cheering when people spin the top dollar value is now almost nonexistent. I just don't get what it is now that makes everyone feel so tired in comparison to the old days. I guess I'll have to see for myself someday. I haven't been to a Sony taping since 1998, and I don't remember much of it. Maybe I'll go this summer... On another note, thanks to our newest member (who hasn't posted yet, but gave his airdate to someone else on the staff), the fourth America's Game week has been determined as April 29-May 3.

Hey, do you know how much it costs to fly from New York to LA?! Besides, I'm going to the New York tapings, no doubt. Still want to go back to Sony, though.

If I didn't have fun I wouldn't be going back, but as much fun as I had I won't be asking to stay for the second set of shows. When a contestant hits the mystery wedge and has to decide whether or not to pick it up they also hold up a sign and the pages tell the audience members to yell 'go for it'. Yes it seems harsh but the clapping is forced. For the first episode everybody is so excited to be there and the enthusiasm is real. But by the 3rd episode I know I personally just wanted to sit back and watch the bloody game on the monitors. I remember coming home and telling friends I had a whole new appreciation for Vanna standing at the puzzle board clapping. Consider this, a lot of TV shows only allow the audience to be there for 1 episode. And I realize part of that is because the enthusiasm dies down fairly quickly. Its like running a marathon, you can't use up all your energy at the beginning no matter how excited you are.
I'm also going to Jeopardy and thrilled I won't have to clap every time a contestant gets a correct response.
I won't post any spoilers but yes I promise to post the theme week when I come home.

When a contestant hits the mystery wedge and has to decide whether or not to pick it up they also hold up a sign and the pages tell the audience members to yell 'go for it'. Why? Isn't the reverse shown on the monitors, so you know if it'll be a Bankrupt? If that's the case, you shouldn't be goaded into saying "Go for it!" if you know it's the wrong choice. ...Of course, it'd also make things easier for contestants -- everybody yells "Go for it!" on the $10,000 side and stays silent (despite the sign and pages) for the Bankrupt side, and Harry might just be paying out a lot more money.

I'm assuming the reveal when Pat says "Folks at home know what you landed on" is also edited in because they don't show that to the audience either. We are clueless as to what's on the other side of the wedge. Whether its a bankrupt or the $10,000 the audience is still prompted to yell 'go for it'. We keep repeating 'go for it' until the contestant makes their decision.
