Jim's Christmas gift from Harry... {snip} Typical Friedman -- that's clearly Person/Title! (Okay, seriously, that's pretty nice. Hopefully that'll appear on-camera at some point.) Today's tapings are for Sandals Resorts Romance Week, according to a contestant on Twitter. This, on the other hand...notsonice.

Yeah, that is a really cool gift. This year, the set has a big prop center-stage with the Sandals logo, so they're probably taping another Sandals week tomorrow...

While the exact theme wasn't confirmed, today's tapings are for the week of March 11, accordig to a contestant on Instagram, and according to an audience member on YouTube, there was also an America's Game show taped yesterday for April 29.

No celebs for NBA Week. Background's nice, though. This must have been taped either November 1 (with Pet Lovers), or December 14 (with Disney). Those are the only past tape dates with no released info yet.

No celebs for NBA Week. Then really, what's the point? And did you really expect them to actually have celebrities playing? The only things celebs are good for in relation to Wheel are wishing them a happy 30th Anniversary and plugging their own products on final segments that only air to affiliates of certain networks. Either Wheel has an allergy to celebrities playing the game, or every single celebrity in the country has an allergy to playing Wheel.

Why celebs shouldn't play Wheel: Little Richard, Bonnie Hunt, William Shatner, George Jones…
Anyway, come on, guys, pick me!

I wasn't really expecting celebs since we hadn't heard anything about it, but it would have been nice IMO because it would have given Wheel some positive publicity and attention. Jeopardy! and TPIR got lots of attention on their last celebrity shows, even Wheel did with their Celebrity Week in S25.

^ According to a poster back in the early days of Invision: "The man just stood there, didn't call one letter, and applauded when his partner hit a bankrupt. The guy again clapped and grinned when his partner took the 50-50 chance on the mystery wedge and got the bankrupt instead of the car."

And here's that post, from the episode's repeat on July 14. That, my friend, is behavior worthy of the name "Game Show Garbage". Maybe he didn't even want to be there, hated charities, or really hated the contestant he was stuck with...or perhaps, as the poster suggests, he just didn't quite understand things. According to this article, his episode originally aired February 17, 2003 to begin Country Music Stars Week, the third and last week from Nashville ( this timeline mentions the outcome of that game). It and the week of February 3 were rerun the weeks of July 14-18 and 28-August 1; not sure whether the third week, Sweethearts Week, aired the week of July 21. Oh, and here's another, much lengthier, article on the Nashville tapings. Basically, like Shatner's ragequit, why hasn't Jones' "gameplay" been immortalized on YouTube or wherever by now?

Basically, like Shatner's ragequit, why hasn't Jones' "gameplay" been immortalized on YouTube or wherever by now? Because putting video online was a much bigger and more complex feat in 2003 than in 2013. Now that everyone has high-speed internet and a capture card, you can guarantee 15 copies of any game show fail within a minute of it airing.

I really regret not recording any full episodes of Wheel. If I had known the WOF/game show fanbase would be like this today, and with YouTube around and all, I would have had at least two closets' worth of tapes.

Pure Paradise, week of 3/25. Ah, the memories this picture brings back...being shuffled around by the contestant coordinators, getting to spin the Wheel for the first time, and listening to everyone cheer you on. By the looks of things, the contestants aren't wearing nametags yet. This photo was probably taken at the start or end of the set tour, which takes place pretty early in the day, right after you get welcomed to Stage 11 with a ton of paperwork and a tough legal briefing. The set tour starts by gawking at the Wheel and watching Gary O'Brien (contestant producer and head coordinator) demonstrate the proper spinning technique. Then, we took a couple practice spins and got the first of many photos taken of us. God, I wish a few photos like these were posted after my visit. Quoted image removed.

NBA Week will have the stars as guests instead of players this year:
