J! always gets more episodes per season (230 vs. WOF's 195)...for some reason...

I have my suspicions (including, and I've discussed this before, what seems to be Harry showing favoritism toward Jeopardy!)...but I think the most likely reason is the prize budgets and how they're used.
* Wheel has a $1,000,000 top prize with one-and-done players, while Jeopardy! has a theoretical top prize of somewhere around $566,000 (although the most anybody's won in a single regular game is around $77,000) with a "sky's the limit" returning-champ policy. * This does balance out, however, as Jeopardy! awards $2,000/$1,000 for second/third-place winners while Wheel awards contestants whatever they win. * The major difference is what's actually on offer -- Jeopardy! solely offers cash, whereas Wheel has cash, cars, and trips.
In comparing the two, though, I noticed (and this is just my opinion) that Jeopardy! has far more variety than Wheel due to retaining many of the elements (returning champs, celebrity games, tournaments, Merv's music, quality writing, etc.) that Wheel's discarded for one reason or another.

I need to do like... a total of J!S29 cash winnings vs. WoFS29 cash winnings (29 instead of 30 because the million win throws a huge outlier in there) when I get back on my laptop and see if the lack of more episodes has to do with balancing out the budgets

Well obviously J! has a bigger budget since they only give away cash, no cars, trips, boats, prizes in general. (Not you Prizes, I still like you)

Jeopardy tends to give away less per show than Wheel does. I'm sure that factors into it.

Does anyone know if or when WOF will pay a tribute to Mark Corwin?

I'll be honest with you, I've been wondering that myself. They had his tribute on the site. He was acknowledged during the 4000th episode in November 2003. Pat mentioned Jack Clark's death at the start of season 6. I'd be surprised if they don't acknowledge his loss on either the 16th or whenever the first taped episode airs.

Mark was still alive for the first 12 taped episodes (Teacher's Week, Weekend Getaways, and their sixth episodes). If any tribute comes, it will be during the premiere week.

What do you want, people who look cranky and miserable on television?
That makes bad television.

Not at all, and I agree. It still doesn't sit right with me (better term) because "Look happy all the time!" is basically what they use for players in most recent primetime game shows, even if the taping of a one-hour episode goes on for eight hours.
The reason I brought it up is because the contestant in that article was clearly thinking about the puzzles, but his "thinking face" wasn't a smile, ergo he was told to look happy. Again, I don't like the concept of "Look happy, players!", but I understand why it's used.

Hello, Jillian. Thanks for signing up! Better start studying for those themed puzzles. And don't forget that the house minimum for team weeks is $2,000, not $1,000. Get a head start by checking out our info about Wheel's new wedge Express here: wheeloffortunehistory.wikia.com/wiki/Gameplay_elements#Express_WedgeAny other questions, or advice, just ask. With Kate as your coach, you're in good hands.

Aaaaaaaand the parallels to Season 28 keep on coming. How much was Walmart paid to sponsor this week?
What, are they going to put the smiley face in the center of the Wheel? Have footage of Walmart shelves on the large video wall? Bring back Slogan for the first $1,000 Toss-Up? Use various smiley face animations for the category reveals? Have that Walmart star-logo-thing be a transition for the Final Spin?
Wendy's Family Week was bad because they plugged it and the contest through their Kids Meals (showing kids and their parents enjoying Wheel together, and having some fun Wheel toys that I got a complete unopened set of from eBay) only to not actually have any kids playing Wheel for any of the six episodes that taping day. Walmart Family Week, on the other hand, not only doesn't have that kind of promotion method but comes across as "ALL-WEEK SPONSOR PLUG!" in big neon all-caps...which looks especially bad given that Walmart isn't exactly known for treating its employees well.
Remember when I said Express was Wheel's one good idea for the season? This only confirms how I felt.
/if they do Vanna For A Day II, I'm done //Pat For A Day would be fun, though ///so long as it isn't Pat For The Final Spin or somesuch

AHave photos of Walmart shelves on the large video wall? Bring back Slogan for the first $1,000 Toss-Up? While they would look ridiculous, at least Walmart shelves would make more sense than a picture of a lake. And a comeback of Slogan is a bad thing?

And a comeback of Slogan is a bad thing? No, but bringing it back for this particular week wouldn't be a good idea because 1) it'd only be there to avoid shoving ROLLING BACK PRICES and SAVING MONEY AND LIVING BETTER into What Are You Doing?, Phrase, or Quotation and 2) I'm pretty sure it'd go right back into retirement after the week is over. /four years, four digits

I take it Disney wasn't interested in sponsoring it, or at least have "ABC Family Week" to make it Before and After appropriate? (or are they having their own week again)
