Got my letter in mid-April of this year. Still waiting.
(by my count, that's...6 months, now?)

Some people have said they haven't gotten the letter at all, right? I think Mario said that some of the NYCers last season didn't get letters.

I know that at least one best friends team made it to the final audition in Atlantic City but never got the letter and were called to be on Best Friends Week anyway. I also saw another news story very recently of someone who got a call despite no letter. I'll see if I find that story.

For what it's worth, I got the letter May 10th, so it has been about 5.5 months for me. I have heard of a couple instances where people waited 19 or 20 months. I have yet to hear of a story of someone getting the letter, but never getting called.

One of my opponents on my show said that she waited over one year from audition to taping, but I think she also mentioned she did not recall getting a letter. By contrast, it only took me three months from audition to taping. I got my letter on 9/4/12, and got the call one year ago tomorrow.

I'm not much help, I got my call 3 months after receiving my letter. But it doesn't sound uncommon to wait a while to get the call. Hopefully that just means more time for you to prep! Once you get the call, then everything happens really fast.

Anyone think they have a week in mind for you when you're picked after the audition or do they just pick names for a wall when weeks come up? I'm predicting they will call me for college week (or spring break or along those lines) and those don't usually tape until the Spring, so I'm predicting then. Of course I could be completely off.

Anyone think they have a week in mind for you when you're picked after the audition or do they just pick names for a wall when weeks come up? I do remember they had us write down what weeks in which we were interested in appearing, so that probably has something to do with it. IIRC, I wrote down "Wheel Around the World," "New Orleans" (my hometown--would've loved to be there when they were taping there remotely), and "Great Outdoors." Why I wrote down that last one, I'll never know. Probably should've written "Fabulous Food" instead, or something like that. I *may* have also written "America's Game" just for kicks as well...can't remember now, though.

I wrote down "Vegas Week" because I have a friend there and I thought it would be a good excuse to see her. I wound up getting picked for one of the (many) Vegas weeks.

I remember writing down that I wanted to be part of the "Celebrating 30" week (as I was 30 years and 2 days old at the time of audition), "Teachers' Week," or any travel-themed week. Lo and behold, I was chosen for a travel-themed week (California Coast).

The way it was worded at the audition, I thought it was just put down episodes we were eligible; so I put College Week and Pet Lovers Week and NBA Week (since I'm in college, own a dog, and am a fan of the Bulls). Had I realized we could request other weeks we like (of course it's not guaranteed) I would have requested one of the Vegas weeks since I find any excuse to go there.

Doesn't mean he won't get on at all. They can't guarantee requests.

The theme for the 6th show is “America’s Game”. Seems like when I watch the "America's Game" shows they are somewhat generic? Is there an actual theme for these? I also don't recall seeing a V8 week before. Guess I'd better study some vegetables.

AG isn't exactly generic. At least one puzzle (almost always the first Toss-Up if anything) is usually themed towards America, such as an appropriate On the Map or Landmark puzzle. FWIW, this theme is currently airing now. A V8 week? Odd...I'm guessing it will be either generic or themed toward "feeling good", but prepare for a Toss-Up of "VITAMINS AND MINERALS" or "SLAP ON THE FOREHEAD" just in case. Also, the second Toss-Up is generic about 98% of the time, so don't let it throw you off while you're thinking of more themed answers. When are these episodes airing?

Best of luck to you on the 8th, Gretchen. You'll have this entire forum rooting for you, so go out there and have fun. AG isn't exactly generic. At least one puzzle (almost always the first Toss-Up if anything) is usually themed towards America, such as an appropriate On the Map or Landmark puzzle. Yeah, I don't think Wheel has done a completely-generic week since...the end of Season 13, I think. 17 years of constant themed weeks...boy, do I feel old. Ok so according to my email, the theme for the first 5 shows is “Feeling Great at Wheel and V8”. [...] I also don't recall seeing a V8 week before. In fairness, that's because this is the first time they've done such a week. Exactly why they're doing (I Could've Had A) V8 Week, I don't know...unless "V8" also somehow refers to a car type, because Wheel would do a sneaky thing like that. A V8 week? Odd...I'm guessing it will be either generic or themed toward "feeling good", but prepare for a Toss-Up of "VITAMINS AND MINERALS" or "SLAP ON THE FOREHEAD" just in case. Nah, knowing Friedman it'll probably be "SLAPPING MYSELF ON THE FOREHEAD WITH MY PALM"...as a Trip Puzzle, so tropical thing because "PALM". Okay, serious suggestion here to Gretchen -- Prize Puzzles always lead to trips (there's only ever been three times where it hasn't), so the puzzle will likely be one of two things: 1) Something tropical, with words like "SUNNY", "ISLAND", "BEACH", "COCONUT", "SHADE", "SANDALS", etc. 2) A Phrase nobody actually says ("SOMEBODY INFLATE THE BEACH BALL", "I LOVE MY PASSPORT PHOTO", "I WONDER HOW MANY VACATION DAYS I HAVE?", "TELL THE PAPERBOY TO TAKE A WEEK OFF", "WELCOME ABOARD FROM THE CAPTAIN OF THE SHIP", etc.) which either comes from a vacation brochure and/or gets few to no results on Google (such as the very recent example "THE FINEST AMAZING AMENITIES"). Such puzzles are usually pointed out in the recap threads as a Brochure Puzzle, or by me as [LoudBoomyVoice] IT CAME FROM THE BROCHURE[/LoudAndBoomy]. /this season's week ideas just keep getting better and better, huh?

Definitely one of the strangest sounding weeks I've heard. What happened to "Fun and Fit"? Excessive sponsored weeks this season, and we're not even halfway through. My theory: Friedman must be strapped for cash after Autumn Erhard made her massive withdrawal from his retirement account.

HILARIOUS!! I almost tinkled. Note to self: Do not pee pants on national TV. I really needed the laugh, WarioSajak, so thank you! Last night I got my hair done and my hairdresser "accidentally" dyed my hair RED and gave me a mullet! I'm not making this up, people. After crying for a couple of hours I decided that the Wheel Gods must want me to be a sassy redhead so here I go! I thank you all again. It is so reassuring to know all the support and goodness out there.
