Another one of those bonus puzzles. Seriously, we already know you've used solutions without RSTLNE in the past. Not in the past several years. It's clearly an unofficial rule (and it's a fair one - there's already no fun in watching a nada solve attempt 99% of the time, a completely blank puzzle during the 10 seconds is just unwatchable). Puzzles like this indicate that it's just a rule. It's also only about as watchable for a contestant to strikeout and fail to solve this type of puzzle (such as BUSY HIGHWAY from 12/3/10, if not for the fact that it was almost a PBRW).

^ Of course, with all the popularity will still come the list of people who just want to yell "fake" whenever something like this pops up. To others, just forget about those, particularly as somebody is bound to upload the full episode anyway.

Let me also add that I was SO glad that $30,000 wasn't in the envelope for that. To end up with the minimum prize on a feat like that is an injustice. (Also, Harry's probably going to drastically decrease the frequency of B's in BR's from now on. )

Well, now. That definitely has to be one of the most impressive solves in the history of this show. Clearly, the reason the puzzle took a while to show after he solved it was because the puzzle judges were also in shock. That solve definitely deserved a high amount for the prize, so it's a good thing we got that, too. And it was great to see Pat's GOPHER frisk in the modern era.

I guess I should post my vid, as complete as usual.
For what will almost certainly be the #1 solve of S31, we will end up remembering a pretty good example of a typical modern BR, except for the fact it doesn't try to draw any wasted letter calls:
-Silly lengthener NEW, although in this case unintentionally just to have RSTLNE not be a nada (you can argue it's not worth the stupid lengthener just to do that, but whatever). It doesn't make much sense to try to draw a wasted W, so yeah, going with this reason. -Most prominently, B and G dominate the puzzle heavily. I like my FGHI and it works decently, but BGHO is probably still the best bet right now. I don't see this puzzle's potential viral marketing result changing this equation. -BUGGY is a semi-obscure word. Wheel loves its BABY BRs - decently difficult usually and any contestant going with common letters is in deep trouble. I'm sure when the thesaurus came up for STROLLER they were so thrilled at this puzzle that they just had to do it, even with the NEW to ensure some base help. -BUGGY is kinda old-fashioned nowadays for a baby stroller, I have to say. We've seen a lot of puzzles that make me feel like the puzzlewriters are referencing old stuff on purpose to get a couple more losses in.
That's probably what impressed me the most - that Emil knew BUGGY well enough to guess it right away. To no-letter BABY by trying B right away from the ULB is a sign of a skilled player, but it takes another step to be able to rip through the tough word without a problem also.

OKAY OKAY I'M HERE! Sorry. Completely overwhelmed by everything going on right now, but overall entirely grateful for this experience! I'm so scatterbrained right now by it all.
I give this show a high 10/10.

I got three things to say about that Bonus Round: 1) BAV's member winnings total is now up to over $1.93 million. 2) I'm pretty sure Friedman is pissed, especially since a total of $65,800 cash was mugged from his wallet tonight...and I love it when that happens. Very well done, Emil! Your optimal Bonus Round strategy for March 19, 2014 (created before I saw Wayo's post, just to be clear):* I'll go with BYGU(W), since I think it's a bit more likely for someone to get B_BY than B_GGY -- but Emil didn't need any of those. Let me also add that I was SO glad that $30,000 wasn't in the envelope for that. To end up with the minimum prize on a feat like that is an injustice. QFT. Clearly, the reason the puzzle took a while to show after he solved it was because the puzzle judges were also in shock. A couple of posters on Golden-Road's topic about this solve think that whoever was responsible for the "you won" reaction being late simply got up and walked away thinking Emil had absolutely no chance. (Also, Harry's probably going to drastically decrease the frequency of B's in BR's from now on. ) Wouldn't surprise me in the least. But hey, at least we got to see the Used Letter Board! ^ I call bias! I call trolling on Emil's part, but with over $56,000 to his credit I think he can afford to be trollin'.

Okay fine lol. I'll tell you a little more about my bonus solve and my brain's process lol.
It was definitely true that I used the used letter board to work with the B. BABY was my go-to word once I saw the HMDO-less puzzle. If it wasn't BABY, I was just doomed, because that's the only word that I correlated with.
As for BUGGY, I said I was in nursing, and we actually studied pediatrics and OB the whole month before, so I pictured in my mind everything in a BABY room or whatnot, and I worked off of the B, and BUGGY was the first word that came to mind!
High 10/10!

Can't wait to see your face all over TV and the Internet when I wake up tomorrow, Emil. I submitted the solve as a story suggestion for Good Morning America and Ellen.

Solve of the year, hands down. What a month it's been for BAV members...first Dan goes total beast mode during his episode, taking a shitload of money out of the show's coffers...and then Emil comes along, pulls this solve out of nowhere, and takes another shitload of money. Nicely done, Emil! You definitely earned this one! Josh, we have high expectations for you now...

Congratulations, Emil!!!! I thought that the two first word were NEW YORK or something else, but they didn't. It's sure that the judges didn't expect that you solve the puzzle, I was also shocked when they revealed the puzzle! Something related with that solve has been spoiled to me, because I usually watch the show at 3:00-4:00 PM in Spain, so when I go to university and I read Twitter I try to avoid spoilers (which often come by the BAV account ). I have opened Facebook a few minutes before I watched the show and the official page uploaded a photo of the puzzleboard :/

TBH I think they're gonna make an even tougher puzzle tomorrow because of this. Just like they placed a SHUTOUT of Wheel Around the World right after the 4-1 Disney Week.

Geez, way to show me up, Emil! No, but seriously, I am so incredibly happy that all this is happening for you, buddy! If I couldn't go viral, I'm glad you could! We didn't want to go up against each other since we found out we were taping the same day, and for good reason. You and I won just under $125,000 between the two of us with just $1,522 difference in our scores. Enjoy all the spoils that come with this, dude! Congratulations!

Except this is a sixth episode week, so we won't see anything "tomorrow". If anything, we'll see a spike in difficulty next week (Girlfriend Getaways), the week taped right after European Vacation (though counting this show, the taping went LWLWLW)

That was one of the greatest solves I've seen! Not only that, but it's even getting coverage from TMZ! This might just wash the taste of the CORNO CURRO CABNET out of the media's mouth...
