One of our members, who is remaining anonymous for now, taped earlier this month and shared a couple new changes for the upcoming season with me: When the category is Same Letter, contestants who call the Same Letter receive a $1,000 bonus.
In honor of Season 32, the Bonus Round's minimum cash prize is increased to $32,000. This begins a new tradition of increasing the minimum each season to match its number. Next season, the minimum will be $33,000, and so on.
As for things that have NOT changed...
Vowel price - Still $250 after all these years no matter what the Wheel says.
Round structure/wedges/gimmicks - Round 3 is still as crucial as ever. Category rotation - Nothing new (except for the Same Letter bonus), nothing dropped as far as we know.
The Wheel layouts... Bare Round 1 Round 2 Round 3 Round 4+

This $1,000 bonus, is this a bonus that can be lost to Bankrupt/needs to win the round to actually claim it?

Most likely the former. Would seem odd otherwise for such a small amount.

Good question. Almost like the Same Letter is a semi-bonus question (What's the Same Letter?). As for the $32K prize...this will only last for season 32, right?

I would imagine so. They wouldn't use $32K in S33. They'll likely either bring it back down to $30K or increase it again to $35K.

The $1,000 bonus for guessing the Same Letter would be quite interesting, I think.

We haven't seen a 2 since the iconic $25,000 was retired in a nasty way at the beginning of Season 28. On top of that, it's better than landing on all those $30,000 envelopes during Season 31. Do you think that next season $33,000 will be the bonus round's smallest amount?
As for the $1000 Same Letter Bonus, it somehow reminds me of the Clue categories. With $500 replacing that boring old $300 as the Wheel's smallest amount, $32,000 replacing that pesky $30,000 as the Bonus Round's smallest amount, and $1000 replacing the awful $0 (LOL!) as the Same Letter bonus, it's a sign that Friedman had saved enough money from Season 31 to offer a lot this upcoming season. Now, did your anonymous source tell you anything about the price of vowels, MarioGS?
Despite no $750, $850, and $950 (along with $1250 and $1500), I've just learned a couple more reasons as to why I'm still looking forward to Season 32 and the return of $550. I never would've said this about Season 31, but I'm going to say some familiar words in regards to Season 32. I've got a good feeling about this season.

Personally, both of these changes strike me as... odd. The raising of the BR minimum to 32K is just an awkward number in general, hanging out there in the no-value's-land between 30K and 35K. I seriously hope that this is not a recurring thing from here on, and that they retire it by increasing to $35K. Not that there was anything wrong with 30K, but I severely doubt that they'll drop that number back down, because it would reek of cheap even to the casual viewer. As for the Same Letter bonus, that shouldn't even be a thing in my opinion. This is supposed to be a letter that's in the puzzle a minimum of three times (only very rarely is it only two, generally in the late rounds before the Speed-Up). Plus, the minimum wheel value was just raised to $500 - that's already a $1,500 minimum score pickup just for calling that letter, before this shoehorned bonus. They don't need to sling in another thousand bucks on top of that. Don't get me wrong, I'm not opposed to seeing players win more, when it's done right. These two changes are pretty much the opposite of that... I feel like the production staff is trying to make the game more exciting by throwing money at it. =============================================== If they really absolutely could not stay away from adding money somewhere in here, this is what I would suggest instead: In place of a Same Letter bonus - Put some regular four-digit values on the wheel, for the love of Merv Griffin. Just having $500-$900 out there this season is going to get boring as heck to watch in a hurry, broken up only by the rare gimmick or top dollar wedge hit. It doesn't have to be a bunch of wedges, but throw us a bone and put a $1,000 or $1,500 spot out there with no gimmicks attached to it for the first time in almost 20 years. You never know, getting that fourth digit on a wedge or two might just turn a couple heads now and then. In place of the $32K Bonus Round minimum - Leave the minimum at $30K. It wasn't broke, don't try to fix it this way. What you could do, though, is slightly increase the number of higher amounts on the wheel (change some 30K envelopes to more 35s and 40s). After all, you control the difficulty of the puzzles... it won't matter how high of a number is in the envelope if the Bonus Round isn't solved, but you at least have made an effort to stop looking so samey with $30K being hit every other show. Of course, all this is just my own $0.02... that and a dollar gets you two uses of a pay phone. If you can find one.

32k as BR minimum. That is going to be interesting

For the BR, would it be practical to include $5K increments of each amount from $30K to $100K? MarioGS, did the contestant mention anything else (doesn't have to be confirmed).

No, that would not be practical at all. Imagine the bittersweetness of landing on a $95K envelope.
As of now, that's all. I'm currently clarifying with them whether the following things are still true:
- Vowels are $250 - Round structure is still the same as S31 (complete with both the Prize Puzzle and Express in R3) - No new categories

The answer to everything above is yes. Vowels are still $250. Now, you can buy a minimum of two vowels with any one consonant! Oh, joy! The round structure has not changed. "Express" is still alternatively known as "If you don't mess up, you win as long as Pat doesn't hit $5,000!" No new categories (as far as the person knows).

...sigh. Well, there goes most of my hope for any kind of improved watchability this season. I hate to sound like the big downer in the crowd, but the lack of change in vowel price and round structure combined with the upped values just does not make the show better. It makes it worse.
I said before that the other two changes came where things weren't broken and did not need fixing. Here, two things that are clearly broken SHOULD be fixed but are going to keep grinding away for another year.

What?! Vowels are still $250?! Okay... I'm fine with that, even though it makes it even more possible to play a round solo.
As for the round structure, I'm actually more disappointed about that because of Round 3.
Now just to double check and make sure we're all on the same page, the Prize Puzzle is still going to be in Round 3 only, Express is here to stay also in Round 3, Jackpot is not coming back, and there are no new gimmicks other than the minimum value increases. Am I correct, MarioGS?

They're probably going to want to get that Same Letter bonus out there often this year... does this mean it's going on the Person / Thing rotation and showing up every day?
$32k... sure, fine. If you've got the coin in the budget, why not. I wonder if the car money will go back to $5k.

I wonder if the car money will go back to $5k. There has been evidence that it will. I'll try to find out for sure.

Those are the most random changes I've ever seen. I could understand bumping $5K up to $6K for that particular week of shows but bumping $30K up to $32k for an entire season is just like... da fuq.
The $1k bonus for Same Letter is really unnecessary too.
As everyone else here has uttered. The vowel prices is the one thing that needs changing especially with the upped minimum wedge value.
The bonus wheel could have $75K thrown in there. It's random, yes, but when you only have one out there like $100K and $50K it's not gonna show up enough to really hurt anything.

Those new rules looks all right. This Same Letter $1K bonus may want players to keep playing the round instead of solving right away, I not too sure yet. And $32,000 cash prize in BR could probably be for premiere week, or might lasts for first few weeks, before going back to $30K.
And finally, WHEN WILL THEY START RAISING THE PRICE OF THE VOWEL?!

It's not just for premiere week. The contestant's episode airs in October.
