I am laughing so hard at the "screaming" puzzle board.
As for the Wheel being wrapped in plastic...you know, if they didn't want anyone to be spinning or tampering with it, they could juse remove it from its base (as if they were preparing for the road trips).
If you guys recall on the very very VERY old Wheel website from Season 14 (you can find it at the Internet Archive, if you're lucky), they have a link where you can take a 360 degree QuickTime VR view of the set...from the puzzle board to the Wheel, and to the side of the base, you'll find the "not-in-use" templates. If anyone needs me to post a link, I will.
(A QuickTime VR view of the set, and the old website...my God, do I feel old, or what?)

Congrats to pictroy who will be taping for Great Escapes week on August 12, airing the week of October 24. Unfortunately, this probably means no Halloween Week this year. Halloween 2016 is going to fall on a Monday. Last time Halloween was a Monday was in 2011, Season 29. That time, they did a full Halloween week for the week of October 24 and then aired the sixth episode on 10/31 with the same theme while the rest of that week was a four-episode theme. Last season without a Halloween week was Season 25, when it fell on a Wednesday, though Season 30 had a Halloween week under this condition. I guess they could still do one, but it would look kind of weird if they were still celebrating Halloween as late as November 4th... |

I don't think contestants who played on Halloween Week on that setting wore costumes unless they planned on dressing up as Pat Sajak, Vanna White, or Jim Thornton for that matter.  Only time I remember seeing contestants in costumes was back in the year 2000 with Richard Simmons as William Shakespeare, Tara Lipinski as a genie, and Alex Trebek as a gnome. |

According to Wheel's website Starting September 6th, they'll starting taping 3 days a week. As that week shows will be taped on September 6, 7, and 8. I'm still waiting as patiently as possible for that e-mail. Also nothing in my junk mail folder.

Jeopardy!'s season premiere date is now confirmed to be September 12, so we can assume Wheel's will be the same. That's one week earlier than the 2011-12 season.

They probably just don't want to deal with having a theme span less than a full week like last time Halloween was a Monday. Admittedly, it would be awkward still having a Halloween set and puzzles as late as 11/4. Last two seasons without a Halloween week (25 and 24), the 10/31 episodes had one themed puzzle each (TU1: BOBBING FOR APPLES and R1: CARVING A PAIR OF JACK-O'-LANTERNS, respectively).
