Anyone else get picked to go on stage at the WM event on 10/8 or 10/9 at Faneuil Hall in Boston? I got picked on 10/8 Is there another thread where this is already being discussed that I missed?

I heard it wasn't rained out, and I was as surprised as you probably are given how bad the weather was! A friend of mine went on Sunday and stood in the rain for 4 hours and didn't get picked!

Has anyone heard anything about Boston callbacks? Three years ago when they came to Boston (like this year) on Columbus Day weekend, I received the callback email on 12/11. If they were on the same type schedule, it could be today, or any day now. Fingers crossed!! (And I apologize if this is being discussed in another thread... I couldn't find it!)

Great American Cities in May will have a Boston week, right? They're probably primarily looking for that. Good luck!

Best of luck; will never forget your kindness back in Newport three (wow, that long ago?) years ago, you've got them good to go this time. You're going to slay and get that letter!

So, my callback audition in Boston is Thursday at 10AM, and we're supposed to get 8-12 inches of snow Wednesday night into Thursday. Anyone ever have them cancel or postpone a callback? I know they ask for your phone number so they can call if they have to cancel, but I'm wondering if cancel means cancel, or it means postpone/reschedule. Thanks for any help you seasoned vets can provide!! Also, if there's a different thread where I should ask this, please point me there. Thanks

Good question. I'd call the number and ask what they plan to do. I do know that there was a final audition scheduled in Atlantic City, NJ for the last NYC remote when Hurricane Sandy hit and I imagine they postponed that.

OK thanks. Fingers crossed! I'm not sure at this point if I'd prefer the show (must) go on, or for it to be rescheduled... I was, of course, really looking forward to it, but if we DO get a ton of snow, I can't ask my kids' grandparents to come out in it to babysit and take my kids to school if they do have school, which was the plan... or if school is cancelled, ask them to stay home with my kids while a foot of snow falls between my house and theirs 25 miles away. Ugh the joys of parenting and show biz! Ha!

So it turns out... in this case, cancelled means postponed! Got the call late this afternoon that the audition is rescheduled for Friday at 9AM. Thank goodness I can still go

I felt like mine in Boston did today too!! There was one at 9am and one in the afternoon too. There were only 41 people in the morning session, and 23 were asked to stay. I feel like that much less than the usual starting # (due to the rescheduling to today because of yesterday's storm, I'm sure) and a few more than the usual # after the cut (in my experience). They did mention that Wheel Across America: Boston week would be taped "sometime in April."
Ugh, the 2ww is bbbbbrrrruuuuutttttaaaaaallllll!!!!!!

true. we had 60 in our group to start, only 18-20 or so stayed after the puzzle test. When they had us panto spinning the wheel. i was doing it as if i were spinning a 2400 lb wheel. I had quite a few remarks from other auditioners that I should be on the show. I just hope I wowwed the CCs enough to make that a reality

Asja2002, had you been to a callback audition before? Getting good feedback from fellow auditioners is a good sign (I said as much to two people after ours yesterday). But I'm certainly no expert on "how to wow" - this was my 5th WOF callback

It was my first callback audition (After almost 10 years trying when they'd come to the Boston area) The first time was 2007 or 2008 when they came to Suffolk Downs. My BF Lindsey and her friend Chris came with for the day. First round of auditions comes. Chris mentions to Lindsey and I that he doesn't really want to do the show, he's just there for me...but puts a card in anyway. Guess who's gets pulled? <Charlie O> CHRRRRRRIS TOBIN! </Charlie O> He did try and get me on stage instead but S&P is pretty picky. I went again in 2009 when they came to the Marlborough Mall on both days. Went thru all 6 audition periods, nothing. Then October 2016 comes. I planned on waking up around 830 so I could ,be into the city by 1030, find parking, etc. I overslept two hours. So I got my nicest clothes I could find..grab my car keys and go about 75 on rte 3 from Plymouth to Boston. I was fortunate that the first garage I found had parking. I head up to Faneuil Hall and slip my card in about 4 minutes before they cut off applications for the 1230pm event. (I put a $5,000 wedge sticker on the back from my 86 deluxe home game. Maybe it helped?) The same results unfortunately happened. My card remained unpicked from the Golden Drum of Destiny(TM) 130pm event comes and goes, no bacon. They gave the spiel that just because your name haddent been picked was not the end. They would choose more people back in LA to get a callback. A show of hands at the Wed. Audition showed that a LOT of people (myself included) were also LA selectees. A qualifier too..Columbus Day weekend when they came to Boston was a rainout on Sunday... From what I've found, they still held the event outside and set up tent areas for the crowd. I would imagine that not as many people went. I would have stayed for the 330 audition sat but had to be back to work on the cape by 4pm, and traffic was just light enough to get out of the city. I would have gone back Sunday too but I figured it was a rainout. Long story short I only needed two entries to get the callback this time.
As to wowing the CCs. I spoke with enthusiasm and clarity from the moment they were calling for our names to set up a seating chart. (One of the CC's commented positively as such) Teddy mentioned that from the moment you walked thru the doors into the room, the audition began at that moment. I did have to rein it in just a little bit but moderated well. I also made sure to call available duplicates in the puzzle before solving (Not leaving 5 S's kind of thing) On the last puzzle of the "After test" mock game. I was in the middle of a puzzle, had the first and last words worked out but couldn't make it click (not a B&A either) so I reach down "Gonna have to spin one more time".....BANKRUPT "You did well ,you solved two puzzles already"
All said it was a great experience even getting to this point. Getting to play your favorite game with 59 other people has to count for something

I've been extremely lucky with getting picked at random at cattle calls... I've been picked from the drum to go on stage 4 times - at Warwick Mall in RI in Sept 2006, Suffolk Downs in May 2007 (less than a year later, that could have been part of the problem that time), Warwick Mall in 2013, and at Faneuil Hall in 2016. I wasn't able to go to the cattle call at Solomon Pond Mall in 2009 because I was out of town that weekend, but someone who couldn't go gave me their invitation (at the time on the invitation it said you could do that... they don't say that anymore).
I just realized you said you had your callback in Boston on Wednesday? They must have done 2 sessions of callbacks each on Wednesday and Friday.
I have to say, I have felt better after other callbacks than this one. When my name was called (twice during the first round) I called a letter that was logical, but not in the puzzle, so my turn ended almost immediately, twice. Same during the final round! I did exactly as you described in terms of enthusiasm and clarity from the moment I walked in until the moment I left (allllllll the smiling and clapping!), so hopefully that counts for a lot. I did really well on the written test, too, and got two chuckles for my "bio" during the final round. Ugh, there's just no way to know....
