Ooh, boy. Well, my brother was playing on our PS4 the other day, and I saw a patch for the Jeopardy! game being downloaded while he was playing. It shouldn't be too long before a patch for the Wheel of Fortune game comes out if it hasn't already.

Well, I haven't played Wheel since sweeping those three games back on November 9th, and I noticed that despite releasing a patch for Jeopardy! (bringing that to version 1.03), Ubisoft hasn't made any updates for Wheel (leaving that at version 1.01). Nevertheless, I decided to play it some more a few hours ago. I played two games, sweeping both of them in the process. And then there was something that happened at the end of Round 3 in the second of these two games I played... |

Many of you have probably noticed how Toss-Ups are often hit-or-miss with the AI. If you're playing solo, the blue player will always be the one to ring in if you're too slow, and they will often guess random fitting words to make answers that make no sense at all (one game that I played recently had Blue guess "HEALTHY CANADA" for "HEALTHY SALADS").
If Blue gets it wrong, Yellow will always ring in immediately afterwards. If you try to mash the buzzer as soon as Blue is about to get buzzed, Yellow will still beat you. Basically, Yellow AI players can't win Toss-Ups unless Blue gives a wrong guess first.
Apparently, profanities are included in the AI's "word banks". WARNING: NSFW

I've seen many wrong answers, but this is as wrong as they come! That is just so, so wrong! Wrong, wrong, wrong! How come the ESRB never even got wind of this?! They better e-mail this to them, Robert. Even they are going to lose it. AI? More like AO!

So basically, if you don't buzz in first, there's a good chance you're not winning that Toss-Up. Great work there, developers! Apparently, profanities are included in the AI's "word banks". I'm mildly skeptical of the linked video, mainly because I can't tell whether Yellow there is a human or computer player, but if that's legit...yeesh. At least the "Hot Coffee" minigame in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas was dummied out by default. |

Actually, when I don't buzz in first, I only lose it about half the time, usually because both AI players will give wrong guesses. And the top-right showed "AI" for yellow. It's legit. I once had this almost-as-racy guess from an AI player on a Toss-Up. The answer was WINE ESTATE, but I rang in too early and choked with REAL ESTATE. Then Blue guessed TANK ESTATE with only the N in the first word before Yellow immediately jumped in as the W came up and guessed:  And not too long ago, I had "WINGNUTS" as a puzzle. Thankfully, it was categorized as Things, but if that ever showed up on the real show, the media would have a field day with that one. |

[the aforementioned screencap] In fairness, that one could make sense as being the estate of a person/family with the last name Wang. I have no idea how far the whole hacking/file exploration thing has gotten for PS4/Xbox One games, but given these two examples I'm definitely curious how far down this rabbit hole goes. [Edited because I realized that missolve actually can make sense.] |

I'm very curious how it is. :-D
So far, I have only seen it on Youtube.
It will be delivered in January. It is imported from the USA to Germany. Greetings and Merry Christmas :-D

I hope this is just some error with a "machine learning" thing where the AI gets its word bank from words that players have used. It could be that Ubisoft just used a dictionary for their word bank, not realizing that vulgar words are included. Regardless of what happened, the AI really shouldn't be saying these words in an E rated game.

I have pretty much been done with this game too, but for a different reason (I haven't seen any vulgar AI answers yet). For the last four online games I've played, the game has frozen on me during the speed-up round. One of the people I was playing with contacted support over Twitter I think he said. He got a quick reply telling him to start his PS4 in safe mode and do something else (I can't remember what), but he told me that he followed their instructions and it froze during that round again. I submitted a trouble ticket to them (along with some suggestions regarding gameplay mechanics and things I wish they would have kept from the PS3 version) a few days ago and am waiting for a response. |

I got the PS4 version for Christmas and while we haven't played for very long and haven't encountered any vulgar AI guesses yet, my brother and I concluded that whoever they got to host is lousy, with almost no energy or charisma. Sadly, you can't mute him without also muting the Prize Puzzle trip description as well. I do like the tutorial being an abbreviated game (with the money you win counting towards unlockables), though, and it's nice to see the Wheel looking as show-accurate as I think it's ever been in these games. It could be that Ubisoft just used a dictionary for their word bank, not realizing that vulgar words are included. If so, I'm curious what kind of dictionary they used that'd have certain aforementioned slang words, though in any case you'd think weeding out such words is something they'd do during development. Tried to play three games today and experienced an oddity in all three. First, yet another glitch. I searched for an online game, and the online mode in this game doesn't always start a game from the beginning. It will sometimes add players mid-game to replace vacancies otherwise filled by AI players. I got dropped into a game in the middle of Round 3 in the blue spot with the previous blue player's round and total scores. Not only that, but the top value was still $2500 on my end despite Express and 1/2 Car being on the Wheel. It was never hit, so I don't know how it would have acted. I do know that the Prize Wedge and Gift Tag will be different on each player's end because it will be whatever they have them set to locally (Italy and Toy Wish in my case; I played a game with tvdave the other day and he said his Gift Tag was Noodle on his end).  I lost that game since I was barely able to play thanks to joining so late and thanks to the red player milking the clock by taking 50 of the 60 seconds to guess the $3,000 Toss-Up puzzle after clearly buzzing in too early.  I started up a new game and it again added me mid-game, this time right at the start of Round 2, and the background screen was plain white. It looked weird.  Then in my next game, I discovered my second misspelled puzzle. I took the screenshot too early but that solitary S was not player input. It was likely meant to be "THREE'S & STARTUP COMPANY" but the punctuation is missing.  And an added bonus, when the writers give up on thinking of adjectives...   Another very important observation: pausing the game does not pause the timer. If you pause or press the console's home button (at least on Xbox), the timer will still keep running in the background and you can still get buzzed out. Wait for an AI player's turn or sometime between rounds to pause if you have to. |
