Another change that was just brought to my attention: Because it's Wheel's 35th anniversary since their start (in syndication) in 1983, "The 80's" is being branched out into sub-categories, much like what they did during Retro Week in 1999. There is 80's Song Lyrics, 80's Movie Title, 80's Event, and 80's Headline. A puzzle used during Weekend Escapes was categorized as just "The 80's" and was of a Song/Artist format. It turns out "The 80's" has been essentially branched out into the entire category list, so just about any category can have "80's" put in front. The latest category list specifically mentions 80's Song Lyrics, 80's Movie Title, and 80's Fun & Games as examples. Thanks to an upcoming contestant for giving me this info.

I really like the new opening. It's a great tribute to the trilons.
If they went to the trouble of making a new mystery swipe, why didn't they change the $2,500 wedge to $3,500??!
The new music is growing on me. It seems to fit better with the new opening.

For some reason it reminds me of "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" for some reason.

Press release is finally out. Disney is mentioned, but not the supposed remote at Disney World. Secret Santa will return as well as five-digit trips Collette. No mention of any new video games like with Jeopardy!'s press release.

MarioGS , any chance you could ask that contestant about CLASSIC TV, H&W, FAMILY, and those other rare categories to see if they're still on the official list?

Thank you for the video of the 35th Anniversary Logo! I know it's only been three days, but I've been looking for it so I can update my home games!

The more specific BR puzzle categories is really going to push the puzzle writers to come up with harder puzzles and it's going to test their skills. We'll see how this goes but I think this option will vanish after season 35.

^Or, you know, S36+ will just have Person or WAYD?/Place/Thing 90% of the time.

They removed the $40k, $45k, $50k envelopes? In almost all episodes of this season, always the BR minimum or car is popped out, and this so boringly predictable...

At this rate, they're probably limited to just one envelope each now... I can confirm that at least $50K is still there. I've been told that it will get hit soon.

Sort of shocking they didn't try to capitalize on their 35th anniversary by making all the prizes $35,000, Car, and 1 $100K and trying to convince everyone that that's a good thing in honor of their anniversary.
If $36K is offered next season, it'll surprise me. I think the buck stops at $35K.

Bump because tonyscv just brought something to my attention... According to the official rules, the Mystery $10K Giveaway might end after January 26.

Besides the category selection for the Bonus Round, this is the change that is most interesting to me. In a standard season of 195 episodes without repeats, the show was offering just shy of a million dollars with this giveaway. Based on Wayo's analysis of 1000 shows, there's a 7.4% chance of the Mystery wedge being won on a given episode. So, over the course of the season, we would expect this to happen roughly 15 times. The show has then reduced its potential expense on WWC from $975,000 a season to $150,000 a season - an almost 85% drop in budget! They might also choose to not repeat shows with Mystery wins to either avoid questions about the missing bonus or give away any additional money. The one unknown in all of this is how many of these bonuses are actually claimed. Given the strict time limits around contacting the show to get your winnings, it wouldn't shock me if the claim rate was as low as 10% from people missing the episode, giving incorrect information, or being ineligible. Don't forget about Secret Santa, which has always been two weeks minimum, so technically, the show would give $925K cash plus the Secret Santa winnings over the season. For Season 34, only 105 episodes had $5K Every Day, so that's only $525K plus Secret Santa winnings (which, unfortunately for them, had the only $100K win of the season). Here are the number of Mystery wins per season dating back to Season 25. Stats courtesy of Wayoshi and Game Show News Net. Season 25: 9 Season 26: 9 Season 27: 18 Season 28: 12 Season 29: 13 Season 30: 14 Season 31: 13 Season 32: 16 Season 33: 17 Season 34: 11 The average is 13.2, which is about 6.7% of the season, or about once every three weeks. In terms of reruns, they will probably just not include the SPIN ID drawing, or like you said, they might exclude weeks and shows that had Mystery wins. Surely they do have the budget from all this to add in a new one on a rerun if they don't bother with either of those options, though. Sounds like Michael Tech Win Taylor lol
