James gets defeated. Certainly wouldn't want to pre-empt that since it will likely be all over the media Tuesday morning. Just found the clip. In fairness, he was kinda sandwiched in there.
At least that means Wheel's budget will (eventually) get back to normal.

A couple of updates on Stanley Cup pre-emptions, both positive. First, KKCO Grand Junction had been airing Wheel at 2:00AM MT due to opting to air a rerun of Dateline NBC at 9:00 without a need to pair Wheel with J! since its time slot is unaffected. Seems somebody listened, because Wheel is no longer relegated to 2:00 AM. Starting this week, Wheel will be airing at 9:30PM MT, paired with an infomercial at 9:00. However, listings have Wheel listed twice, at 4:00 PM (in place of Daytime J!) and at 9:30. KKCO is aware of the error. They confirmed to me in an Email that the 9:30 slot is correct and they are trying to get the 4:00 listing reverted to Daytime J!
Second, KCWY Casper... So here's a story for y'all. I contacted KCWY's station manager asking why they always opt for the Dateline repeats and never accommodate Jeopardy! or Wheel when pre-empted, unlike how mostly everyone else airs them in the 9:00 hour. His reply: Two days later, he sent a follow-up with some good news: You're welcome, Casper. The game shows are now listed in the 9:00 hour on TitanTV, although all other listings still have Dateline NBC. Respect for this affiliate has gone way up. Just goes to show you that if you feel someone isn't treating your favorite show fairly, raise your voice (in a respectful way, of course). They don't have to know that you don't live in their viewing area. With these two changes, Wheel will now be airing in sensible time slots in all affected West Coast markets on game days! (Although KSDK St. Louis is still skipping affected episodes altogether due to pregame)

We will be getting at least a Game 6 of the Stanley Cup, though this does not impact Wheel since it will air on a Sunday. If Games 5 and 6 are won by one team each, the maximum seventh game will be necessary.
KSDK St. Louis isn't budging. They claim they "definitely care" about Wheel, yet they're apparently "not allowed" to air Wheel on a subchannel or in an overnight slot even though they were during the Winter Olympics last year...

Wheel is being pre-empted on most West Coast ABC affiliates by the NBA Finals on the following days: - Game 1: Thursday, May 30 (America's Game V, Day 4)
- Game 3: Wednesday, June 5 (Rail Tour, Day 3)
- Game 4: Friday, June 7 (Rail Tour, Day 5; season finale)
- Game 5 (if necessary): Monday, June 10 (rerun of 10/15/18; Great Outdoors, Day 1)
- Game 6 (if necessary): Thursday, June 14 (rerun of 10/18/18; Great Outdoors, Day 4)
Games 2 and 7 will be played on Sundays. There will be at least a Game 5 since the Warriors and Raptors have won one game each so far. Anyway, a couple updates on West Coast ABC scheduling for Wheel starting tonight... KGO San Francisco has moved Wheel slightly earlier, though still overnight. Wednesday 6/5 will air at 2:12AM PT, and the season finale on Friday will air at 1:37. The rerun on 6/10 and 6/14 if necessary will both air at 2:12. KXTV Sacramento is unfortunately not airing Wheel at all on NBA Finals days, meaning they will not be airing the Season 36 finale. The 10:30 PM listing last Thursday was a mistake. They are instead opting to air a repeat of Nightline from 10-11. Jeopardy! is airing at 1:06 AM, as they claim that was their only time slot they could work with and it came down to a choice between J! or Wheel (and of course, we all know which one 95% of America would choose). Here was their official response... These excuses are honestly laughable. First, they claim that Wheel will post the affected episodes on their YouTube, even though they don't and they never have, and fan uploads are either extremely poor quality (one user uploads episodes playing from a tiny hospital room TV), or they get removed soon afterwards. Second, they claim that the Nightline airing is mandatory for the 10 PM hour, even though two other ABC affiliates, KOLO Reno and KFSN Fresno (an ABC O&O, no less!) are airing Jeopardy! and Wheel in that hour without issue. Third, they suggest checking for the show On Demand, even though it's a syndicated program. No cable company offers Wheel or any other syndie (other than perhaps the package of J! episodes available on Netflix and Hulu) On Demand. KXTV also has a ton of Paid Programming slots on both Saturday and Sunday they could easily air the affected Wheel episodes in, and yes, they are still airing the Saturday rerun on Saturday despite them pre-empting the season finale.

Reminder: KABC Los Angeles might be airing yesterday's episode tonight to make up for yesterday. On a different note not related to Stanley Cup or NBA, there is a bizarre listings anomaly for Friday. Jeopardy! and Wheel are listed at 7:00 and 7:30 PM ET/PT, respectively, on MeTV in all markets, regardless of whether it is a sister station of a J!/WOF affiliate or what order they normally air in that market. These two listings replace M*A*S*H which normally airs in that hour.. For example, it is shown here in the West Palm Beach market on WPTV's subchannel even though the shows are carried on WPBF there. Note that neither show's listing has any episode info. MeTV's website still lists M*A*S*H on Friday, so this is almost certainly a mistake in all but one market. The only market known to be pre-empting the game shows on Friday (besides for NBA Finals) is the Burlington, Vermont market. Local NBC affiliate WPTZ is airing a live broadcast of the annual Friday Night Block Party jazz festival, which they sponsor. They announced that J! and Wheel would move to MeTV on Friday and they have been running crawls during both shows all this week to give viewers advance notice. It looks like somehow, this move found its way to MeTV's national schedule.

Back to the topic of the Stanley Cup, we will be getting the maximum Game 7 thanks to Boston tying things up 3-3, meaning there will be one more day of Wheel airing in alternate time slots on the West Coast and not at all in St. Louis. Note that the West Coast scheduling will probably be slightly different come Wednesday due to conflicts with NBC's new Wednesday primetime series The InBetween (this will be the only game to air on NBC on a Wednesday), so this suggests the West Coast has one less hour to use for local or syndicated programming after the game. Most markets still have primetime listed as TBA as of Monday morning.
And on the subject of the NBA Finals, Game 5 is tonight, and all ABC affiliates' schedules are prepared for Game 6 on Thursday should it be necessary. Here is Wheel scheduling for affected affiliates on both days, assuming we get a Game 6. Note that this is slightly different from last week. MARKET | STATION | WHEEL TIME | Rapid City, SD | KOTA | Not affected | Tucson, AZ | KGUN | 9:30PM MT | Seattle, WA | KOMO | 9:01PM PT* | Eureka, CA | KAEF | 9:01PM PT* | Bend, OR | KOHD | 9:30PM PT | Medford, OR | KDRV | 9:30PM PT | Portland, OR | KATU | 9:30PM PT | Reno, NV | KOLO | 10:30PM PT | Fresno, CA | KFSN | 10:30PM PT | San Francisco, CA | KGO | 2:12AM PT | Anchorage, AK | KYUR | 8:30PM AT | Fairbanks, AK | KATN | 8:30PM AT | Juneau, AK | KJUD | 8:30PM AT | Los Angeles, CA | KABC | None | Sacramento, CA | KXTV | None |
*9:01PM PT airings will be joined in progress or start late if game runs over Unsurprisingly, KABC Los Angeles and KXTV Sacramento are still finding overnight time slots for Jeopardy!, despite not airing Wheel at all. Tonight's Wheel is a repeat of October 15, 2018 (Great Outdoors Day 1, Asha/Jeffrey/Lisa). This episode has the misfortune of getting pre-empted twice in the San Francisco market. Its original airing was pre-empted by a 49ers game and did not air at all. At least its repeat will be airing in some form the second time around.

Reminder: KABC Los Angeles might be airing yesterday's episode tonight to make up for yesterday. Apparently, this was not the case. Ruth from the June 5 episode (red) commented online that she could not watch her own appearance because of KABC's refusal to air the episode.
Last game of the Stanley Cup is tonight on NBC. Due to the conflict, NBC has postponed The InBetween this week, meaning all affiliates have reverted to the same scheduling they had been going by during the other game days. However, KHQ Spokane and KCWY Casper still have their post-game primetime window listed as TBA, so DVR recordings for Wheel will have to be scheduled manually. And yes, KSDK St. Louis is skipping tonight's episode, which originally aired October 17 (Maureen/Ashley/Alan).

The Stanley Cup is finally over, but we have other events to worry about. ABC (WEST COAST):
Today is the final weekday game of NBA Finals no matter what happens. Wheel is pre-empted on all ABC affiliates airing the show at 6:30PM MT or later. Scroll up two posts for specific scheduling. LA and Sacramento are skipping the show completely. PROVIDENCE, RI:
WPRI (CBS) will be pre-empting Wheel tonight with a special on the CVS Health Downtown 5K marathon (which doesn't even happen until September). Wheel will air on its MyTV .2 subchannel in place of Access, although listings have Wheel on both stations. Jeopardy! is unaffected, because of course it is (and because they still have new episodes, I guess...). BAY CITY, MI:
WNEM (CBS) will be pre-empting both Jeopardy! and Wheel tonight with local shopping show Better Deals Summer Special. The shows will air respectively at 2:37 and 3:07AM ET. ALL FOX AFFILIATES:From Thursday through Saturday, FOX will be airing the 2019 U.S. Open. Guess what time the coverage starts on the weekdays? Yep, 7:30 ET/6:30 CT. It's football season all over again. As usual, Wheel is not affected on KHON Hawaii due to the huge time difference. Saturday's broadcast lasts all day from 12-10PM ET. Here's the scheduling for all mainland FOX affiliates. Kansas City is skipping the show completely on the weekdays, Green Bay is airing it early, and everyone else bumps it overnight. MARKET | STATION | WHEEL TIME | THU 6/13 OAD 10/18/18 | FRI 6/14 OAD 10/19/18 | SAT 6/15 OAD 5/30/18 | Green Bay, WI | WLUK | 5:30PM CT | 5:30PM CT | 11:00PM CT | Syracuse, NY | WSYT | Not affected | Not affected | 6:00PM ET on WNYS (MyTV) | Cincinnati, OH | WXIX | Not affected | Not affected | 11:30PM ET Sun. | Salisbury, MD | WBOC-DT2 | Not affected | Not affected | None | Lake Charles, LA | KVHP | Not affected | Not affected | 9:00PM CT Sun. | Baltimore, MD | WBFF | 3:30AM ET | 3:30AM ET | Not affected
| New Orleans, LA | WVUE | 11:00PM CT | 10:30PM CT | 11:00PM CT | Mobile, AL | WALA | 2:30AM CT | 2:30AM CT | None | Denver, CO | KDVR | 4:00AM MT | 4:30AM MT | 8:30PM MT | Kansas City, MO | WDAF | None | None | 11:30PM CT |
Note that FOX is also pre-empting most of daytime programming with the FIFA Women's World Cup. Apparently, WDAF Kansas City would rather save overnight slots for Rachael Ray and The Wendy Williams Show than for Wheel (they don't carry Jeopardy!). WXIX Cincinnati can be taken off the hit list. During other FOX sports pre-emptions earlier this season taking over the 7:30 slot, they would move Jeopardy! to 7:00 and bump Wheel overnight. Somebody there got the very bright idea that they could simply move first-run Jeopardy! to the time slot normally used for Daytime Jeopardy! at 6:00 (since apparently they would need special permission to move Wheel that early, oh no!), and bump that airing to overnight instead, so Wheel can stay where it is. Finally, they got some common sense kicked into them. Hopefully they do this come next football season. KDVR Denver continues to surprisingly treat Wheel better than Jeopardy! Normally, their 4:00 AM hour is a repeat of TMZ followed by the start of the local morning news (Mon-Fri only). 4:00 is their only time slot to work with Friday morning since the other overnight slots are taken by make-goods of other pre-empted shows like Live with Kelly and Ryan, so Thursday's Wheel got that slot and Thursday's J!, despite being a new episode while Wheel isn't, is not on the schedule at all. On Saturday morning, Friday's J! gets the 4:00 slot since KDVR doesn't have a morning newscast on Saturdays, allowing Wheel to slide back to 4:30 to make room for J! This means that the October 18, 2018 episode will have been pre-empted twice on FOX affiliates.

BAY CITY, MI:
WNEM (CBS) will be pre-empting both Jeopardy! and Wheel tonight with local shopping show Better Deals Summer Special. The shows will air respectively at 2:37 and 3:07AM ET. WNEM changed their scheduling at the last minute yet again. They decided to shorten the special to half an hour from 7:30-8:00, allowing Jeopardy! to take its normal time slot. Wheel, instead of airing overnight, will air on its MyTV .2 subchannel (TV5 Plus), replacing Access. However, the listings have not been updated and still show a one-hour special on both the main channel and subchannel with J! and Wheel overnight, which will presumably revert to the normally-scheduled CBS Overnight News.

WBZ Boston is pre-empting Wheel again with a half-hour edition of Patriots All Access (in June??). Wheel will air at 2:07AM ET. Since this is a Friday episode, tonight's episode was also pre-empted on this station the first time it aired since PAA is a weekly series airing on Fridays during football season. Here are all the first-run days WBZ Boston pre-empted Wheel: September 14 (PAA) September 21 (PAA) September 28 (PAA) October 5 (PAA) October 8 (Brett Kavanaugh's Swearing-In) October 12 (PAA) October 19 (PAA; rerun on June 14 also pre-empted by PAA) October 26 (PAA) November 2 (PAA) November 9 (PAA) November 16 (PAA; $100K win episode) November 23 (PAA) November 27 (Christmas Tree Lighting) November 30 (PAA) December 7 (PAA) December 14 (PAA) December 21 (PAA) December 28 (PAA) January 4 (PAA) January 11 (PAA) January 15 (State of the City) January 25 (PAA) February 1 (PAA) March 21 (March Madness) March 22 (March Madness) March 28 (March Madness) March 29 (March Madness) April 25 (PAA Draft Special) May 3 (PAA)
Total: 29 episodes, about 15% of the season. Most Friday episodes of Jeopardy! were affected through February 1 as well as the March Madness shows since the regular edition of PAA is an hour show. Any days Wheel was pre-empted for something other than PAA in that timespan (or anything afterwards), J! was unaffected. And here are all the days WKRN Nashville pre-empted Wheel, mostly thanks to its Monday Titans show, or any weekday NFL game involving the Titans that wasn't on a Thursday: September 10 (Titans show; season premiere) September 17 (Titans show) September 24 (Titans show) October 1 (Titans show) October 8 (Titans show) October 15 (Titans show) October 22 (Titans show) October 29 (Titans show) November 5 (Titans game) November 12 (Titans show) November 14 (CMA Red Carpet show) November 19 (Titans show) November 26 (Titans game) December 3 (Titans show) December 10 (Titans show) December 17 (Titans show) December 24 (Titans show) December 25 (Christmas NBA) January 17 (News 2 Town Hall: East Nashville: The Good, The Bad, The Future) January 31 (News 2 Town Hall: WEED) February 14 (News 2 Town Hall: Bullying) March 28 (News 2 Town Hall: Fentanyl: The Third Wave) April 25 (NFL Draft Preview) April 26 (NFL Draft) May 30 (News 2 Town Hall: Antioch) Total: 25 episodes, about 13% of the season, a bit behind Boston thanks to their football show lasting a few more weeks. Nashville does beat Boston and everyone else in terms of non-sports-related local specials, though. Jeopardy! is carried on FOX affiliate WZTV in Nashville and airs at 5:00PM CT, a time slot rarely, if ever, affected by sporting events.

Bizarre mix-up on WROC Rochester last Thursday.
For the entire first segment of the show, the video was from the October 18/June 13 episode from one week prior (Great Outdoors, Day 4), but the audio was from the day's correct episode (September 27/California Coast, Day 4). This was corrected by Round 2.

Tonight, CBS affiliate WVNS in Lewisberg, West Virginia, as well as its FOX subchannel, are airing a one-hour special on the three-year anniversary of the deadly 2016 West Virginia "1000-Year" Flood that killed 23 people. It will air from 7-8 PM Eastern, pre-empting Wheel and Jeopardy! on CBS and a double-run of The Big Bang Theory on FOX. While BBT is being moved to 3:00/3:30 AM, Wheel and Jeopardy! are not airing at all, despite the J! Teen Tournament still going on.

Due to the 2020 Democratic Candidates Debate tonight and tomorrow on NBC from 9-11PM ET, Wheel will be pre-empted this Wednesday and Thursday on NBC affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone and Arizona. All affected affiliates will be airing the show in primetime. The affected episodes are repeats from January 16 and 17. Tonight is the MLB All-Star Game, which unfortunately starts with pregame in Wheel's most common time slot of 7:30 Eastern/6:30 Central. This will pre-empt tonight's Wheel repeat (John/Tilita/Colleen from April 16) on 6 of the 10 FOX affiliates carrying Wheel, except for those that air it at 7:00 Eastern and KHON Hawaii. Thankfully, all of them are airing Wheel in some form tonight or tomorrow. MARKET | STATION | WHEEL TIME | Green Bay, WI | WLUK | 5:30PM CT[1] | Cincinnati, OH | WXIX | Not affected | Syracuse, NY | WSYT | Not affected | Lake Charles, LA | KVHP | Not affected | Baltimore, MD | WBFF | 11:35PM ET | New Orleans, LA | WVUE | 10:30PM CT[2] | Kansas City, MO | WDAF | 12:30AM CT | Mobile, AL | WALA | 2:30AM CT | Denver, CO | KDVR | 3:30AM MT[3] |
[1] Listings for WLUK Green Bay do not have tonight's Wheel listed at all. However, they confirmed to me via Email that they will be airing Wheel an hour early at 5:30PM CT as they always do during pre-emptions. In order to DVR tonight's Wheel off WLUK, one will have to schedule a recording of the 5:00 newscast, which listings still have as the usual hour length. [2] Listings for WVUE New Orleans have a generic placeholder for tonight's Wheel with no episode info. Also, tomorrow's episode is erroneously listed twice - once on Wednesday at its usual time, and on Saturday at 5:30PM CT in place of the Season 35 rerun (most FOX affiliates have been airing Saturday Wheel early on days with evening MLB games). [3] While Jeopardy! and Wheel appear in listings in the 3:00AM MT hour on KDVR Denver, the station's website still has that hour listed as the regularly-scheduled secondary airing of The Wendy Williams Show.

This won't go into effect until next season, but putting the word out now: Michigan Lottery will be airing a live event titled The Big Spin (no relation to the well-known California Lottery show) five days a week over the course of four weeks in the 2019-20 season: September 9-13, 2019 October 21-25, 2019 December 16-20, 2019 February 10-14, 2020 The duration and time slot of the events are not clear, though an identical show from the Virginia Lottery last season titled Win a Spin lasted a little over six minutes (search "virginia lottery win a spin live" on YouTube). MI Lottery's website mentions that the show will air "shortly after the Lottery’s evening drawings", which is at 7:29PM ET. The events will be carried on eight local affiliates across Michigan, four of which carry Wheel: WBKB Alpena, WDIV Detroit, WNEM Bay City/Flint, and WLUC Marquette. Assuming the show takes over part of the 7:30 time slot, Wheel would be affected on all of these affiliates except for WDIV (unless they choose to move Jeopardy! to 7:00 like they have done in the past), and WLUC on Mondays only (as the station carries a weekly local show in that time slot and airs Wheel on its FOX subchannel instead). If the show only lasts 5-6 minutes, Wheel (or Jeopardy! for WDIV) may end up getting partially pre-empted (definitely losing the intro and first two Toss-Ups, plus likely most of Round 1) during the affected weeks. Wheel (and only Wheel) got pre-empted again tonight on WBZ Boston by Patriots All Access, the offseason, half-hour edition. -_-
It was also pre-empted yesterday on WROC Rochester by a show on the Buffalo Bills and got bumped to 2:07 ET. Jeopardy! was unaffected, because of course it was.

NFL Preseason Football is starting soon. KABC Los Angeles has announced that they will be airing three of the four Chargers preseason games on Thursday 8/8, Saturday 8/24, and Thursday 8/29. Pregame will start at 6:30PM PT with the games scheduled until 11:00. This will affect Wheel, Jeopardy!, and ABC's primetime lineup. Their schedule for 8/8 shows that day's Wheel and Jeopardy! (both repeats) will not be airing at all, as overnight is taken up by make-goods of Holey Moley and Family Food Fight.
KGO San Francisco will also likely be broadcasting the 49ers preseason games, which are on Saturday 8/10, Monday 8/19, Saturday 8/24, and Thursday 8/29. All game times will conflict with Wheel.

West Coast is affected tonight, as well as part of Alabama. Tonight's episode is a rerun of September 20, 2018, arguably one of the worst episodes of Season 36. NBC - WEST COASTDue to the Broncos @ Falcons NFL preseason game being broadcast nationally on NBC starting at 8:00PM ET (no 7:30 pregame, thankfully), Wheel will be pre-empted on NBC affiliates in the Mountain and Pacific Time Zones. Most are airing the show in primetime slots, except for Yuma which will air it early and Casper which is not airing it (or Jeopardy!) at all. MARKET | STATION | WHEEL TIME | Yuma, AZ | KYMA | 4:00PM MT | Grand Junction, CO | KKCO | 9:30PM MT | Idaho Falls, ID | KPVI | 9:30PM MT | Chico, CA | KNVN | 8:00PM PT* | Palm Springs, CA | KMIR | 9:00PM PT | San Diego, CA | KNSD | 9:00PM PT | Yakima, WA | KNDO | 9:00PM PT | Monterey, CA | KSBW | 9:30PM PT | Santa Barbara, CA | KSBY | 9:30PM PT | Spokane, WA | KHQ | 9:30PM PT** | Casper, WY | KCWY | None |
*Wheel will start late or get partially or fully pre-empted on KNVN Chico if the game runs long **Most listings have all of 8-11PM PT listed as TBA on KHQ, but station website confirms Wheel will air at 9:30 DOTHAN, ALABAMAYet another "how to prepare for storms" special sabotaging Wheel's time slot. CBS affiliate WTVY will be pre-empting Wheel with "Hurricanes on the Horizon 2019". Wheel will air on its .3 CW subchannel... at 1:30AM CT in a slot normally used for Paid Programming. Because this was the best solution for the show, rather than simply airing Wheel at its normal time on CW in place of a Family Guy rerun, or moving it to the co-owned NBC affiliate WRGX to replace one of multiple Family Feud repeats carried by the station for one day. Logic.

Yet another "how to prepare for storms" special sabotaging Wheel's time slot. CBS affiliate WTVY will be pre-empting Wheel with "Hurricanes on the Horizon 2019". Wheel will air on its .3 CW subchannel... at 1:30AM CT in a slot normally used for Paid Programming. It gets better. A promo for the special on WTVY's Facebook shows that this is only one of four airings of this special, with the next airing being tomorrow at 6:30 on WRGX, replacing a Feud rerun, and two more airings on Saturday 8/10 (one on WTVY and one on WRGX). Once again, a station is interfering with Wheel when they clearly don't have to, and don't even bother to handle it properly. Nobody's going to watch it at 1:30 AM on a different station!
