NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE?WKRN might be once again pre-empting Wheel with a local news special tonight. Originally, listings had a special titled Clarksville: Good, Bad, Future with Wheel at 12:06AM CT. This was reverted back to their normal schedule, and Wheel is now listed at its regular time on most listings. However, WKRN's website still has the special listed at 6:30PM CT, but their Facebook page currently mentions a different topic of news today titled "Nashville International" with coverage "all day", and they post similar promos on their page for all the other news specials that pre-empt Wheel. It seems that Wheel did air at its regular time on WKRN last night according to most listings. I checked their live stream on their website and it went dark at 6:30PM CT after the news (I'm pretty sure their "specials" can be watched on the stream). The Clarksville special might have been delayed to another week, or just cancelled altogether. |

Tonight's Bills @ Lions preseason game is airing nationally on CBS starting at 8:00PM ET. This will affect Wheel on all CBS affiliates in the Mountain and Pacific Time Zones. WBNS in Columbus is also pre-empting Wheel for the Browns @ Buccaneers game. The Bills @ Lions game is moved to their Heroes & Icons subchannel, yet Wheel is "not allowed" to move there and is forced to air overnight (although in their defense, moving Wheel to H&I would cut Numb3rs in half). The game did not sign off until 11:17PM ET/9:17PM MT.
KKTV Colorado Springs and KGWN Cheyenne both joined Wheel in progress shortly into Round 4. All of the Montana stations and KDBC El Paso joined Jeopardy! in progress late into the Double Jeopardy! round.
KRQE Albuquerque opted to start Jeopardy! from the beginning, so Wheel will likely start late around 9:45-9:50PM MT.

KRQE Albuquerque opted to start Jeopardy! from the beginning, so Wheel will likely start late around 9:45-9:50PM MT. I spoke too soon... and I should have figured this would happen... After Jeopardy! ended, a few commercials were aired, and then instead of starting it from the beginning, Wheel got joined in progress during Round 4 (at nearly the exact same point KKTV started it, during Red's R call). In other words, KRQE pre-empted the majority of Wheel so they could air Jeopardy! in its entirety! Ugh. The bias is real... At least Montana and El Paso aired Wheel in full. |

Correction on KSFY Sioux Falls. The Vikings @ Bills game was originally scheduled to start at 6:30PM CT, but it got moved a bit earlier to 6:00, meaning the game would now end at 9:00 (if no overrun), so instead of a half-hour window of Wheel between the game and local news, KSFY changed it to an hour-long window of ABC's Reef Break at 9:00, and Wheel was taken off the schedule and will not air at all tonight. Jeopardy! was unaffected the whole time, because of course it was. Darn daytime freedom...

KABC Los Angeles screws Wheel over again... Despite making up Thursday's Jeopardy!, they have decided not to make up Thursday's Wheel at all despite what listings say.
All sources showed that, because of the game last night, Jeopardy! would be delayed by a day, with the Thursday episode airing on Friday and Friday's on Saturday night at 9:00 (College Football takes up most of the day). Most listings showed Wheel would be getting the same treatment: one-day delay with Friday's ep on Saturday at 9:30. However, I just tuned into KABC via Locast and they are playing the Friday episode of Wheel. This is in accordance with the schedule on the KABC website, which has the All-Star Games Week 1 finale listed on Saturday for J!, but the Season 35 rerun (Teacher's Week) listed for Wheel.
On the one hand, despite being reruns, I'm sure some LA J! fans would be upset at the continuity for the ASG being disrupted (even though some markets like Norfolk and Santa Barbara have delayed the Thursday episode to the weekend and showed Friday's episode on time). On the other hand, it makes no sense if KABC planned to give Wheel the one-day delay treatment as well but then backed out of it (remember that the weekend reruns of J! and Wheel are not counted towards the shows' main Nielsen ratings). This is at least the third time this season that KABC handled a J! and/or Wheel pre-emption differently than how it appeared in listings. From now on, trust their website before anyone else.

It seems WDIV no longer opts to give Jeopardy! priority over Wheel; they are only airing three out of six episodes this week (Wed, Fri, and Sat are all pre-empted), and next Friday's J! As I said last night, WDIV Detroit displays yet another change in attitude towards Wheel, and WTHR Indianapolis is once again joining it by pulling the Jeopardy!-replacement treatment, with the two shows swapping times and Wheel's alternate airing still being displayed as M*A*S*H in listings. Here is an updated list of stations that will replace Wheel with Jeopardy! on the fly if the latter is pre-empted. Football never ends on time... -_- NBC's game signed off at 11:43PM ET, meaning KKCO Grand Junction and KNVN Chico likely joined Wheel in progress around the middle of Round 2.
According to a Tampa area viewer on the Official WOF Group on Facebook, the latter part of tonight's Wheel and the beginning of tonight's Jeopardy! were interrupted by breaking news on CBS affiliate WTSP. It was likely either Hurricane Dorian coverage, or updates on the deadly shooting that happened in the area earlier today.

Jeopardy! Rerun of the All Stars final match game 1 Was pre-empted on WBRE yesterday for a NBC thing. At least Wheel wasn't. I forgot to mention this, but Wheel had been pre-empted On May 28th on WBRE I believe due to weather coverage. After it ended they showed Round 2 and the rest of the show. The first segment wasn't shown though. And they delayed it by a few minutes because at 7:20 they were still in Round 3. WBRE has more respect for Wheel though than other affiliates. Sometimes they pre-empted Jeopardy! More due to football. I believe they did not pre-empt any Season 33 or Season 34 episodes of Wheel. However, Wheel was pre-empted a few times in Season 35 due to a paid programming I think. And they pre-empted Christmas 2017 due to something I forgot. I notice alot of affiliates pre-empt wheel on Christmas. Season 36 had a few pre-emptions too. I told you guys Wheel was pre-empted on October 2nd due to weather coverage. And more weather coverage on May 28th and the special programming on June 3rd. They decided to pre-empt wheel and not J! On June 3rd because on June 3rd was when James Holtzhaur lost. And they pre-empted Wheel last month due to a parade. Hopefully WBRE does not pre-empt Wheel alot during Season 37.

I notice alot of affiliates pre-empt wheel on Christmas. That's mostly because ABC airs NBA all day, and ABC is the biggest network carrier of Wheel, both in number of affiliates and in terms of market audiences. Out of the Top 10 Nielsen markets, six of them have Wheel on ABC. Other affiliates sometimes air Christmas specials or movies in place of syndies or newscasts. Back when CJON Newfoundland, a totally independent Canadian affiliate, showed Wheel on its online stream, I remember tuning in for Wheel on Christmas Day 2017 and being disappointed when they aired some kids' holiday pageant instead. |

Last planned weekday pre-emption of Season 36 shouldn't be a shock...

Patriots All Access returns as a regular weekly show this week, bumping tonight's Wheel and Jeopardy! to 2:07 and 2:37AM ET.
Since tonight's Wheel originally aired during football season on November 2, this makes another episode that was pre-empted twice on WBZ.
Final weekday Wheel pre-emption count for WBZ Boston: 36, more than seven weeks' worth of episodes, and about two-thirds of those applying to Jeopardy! as well. Someone on the J! subreddit posted about how he had been in talks with WBZ's programming department about a better solution for airing the game shows on Fridays, but they would not budge.

So despite supposedly airing it overnight, WBZ Boston is currently (re-)re-airing the J! All Star Games finale tonight even though the listings have the usual rerun from S34. Wheel's airing tonight was still the rerun from S35's Best Friends Week. And this is not a national thing because I also checked WTSP Tampa right now and they're showing J!'s S34 rerun (locally, I don't get either show until tomorrow because of football).
I wonder if airing the Friday episodes on Saturday evening will be a regular thing for J! in Boston, or they just did it for this because it was an event finale. Their programming director told me that in those cases, J! usually airs on sister station WSBK in the evening instead of overnight with Wheel, but it was not listed on WSBK last night, and I figured maybe that policy was only the case for finals airing in first-run.
