I've read many posts regarding some new ideal changes for Season 29 of WHEEL. But here are some ideas I've run in to recently
1)Audience yells "WHEEL! OF! FORTUNE!" and Pat and Vanna are introduced. Pat then interviews the players. 2)The first Toss-up is played for $2,000 and the right to start the game. 3)The first prize is added to the Wheel and the first round is played. 4)The Jackpot Round's sponsor is announced and the second round is played. 5)1st Commercial Break 6)The Mystery Round's sponsor is announced and a second prize is added to the Wheel. The third round is played. 7)2nd Commercial Break 8)The second Toss-up is played for $3,000 and the right to start the round. 9)The remaining rounds are played. 10)Last commercial break. 11)The bonus round is played 12)The closed-captioning sponsor is announced. 13)Pat and Vanna chat and then say goodbye. 14)The fee plugs are announced. 15)The credits roll.
And there some ideal changes for a new wheel configuration
First off, the $1,000 Toss-Up is dropped. The $2,000 Toss-Up is played before R1 and the $3,000 before R4. Top dollar is R1 is $2,500, $3,500 in R2, $4,000 in R3 and $5,000 in R4 and beyond. $1,000 and $1,500 are brought out of retirement. The Jackpot is moved back to R2. The Wheel always has two Bankrupts, but as mentioned, neither one is next to the top dollar amount. The Million Dollar wedge is placed over one of these Bankrupts. Players now get the money underneath a prize wedge or a gift tag after they call a letter. Another prize is added to the Wheel before R3. Also, prizes don't always have to be limited to trips. Players that land on Free Play also get a Free Spin token to use l
owels are now worth $500. The lowest value on the wheel now worth $500. Wheel Values are as follows:
Round 1: $500, $550, $600, $700, $750, $800, $900, $1000, $1100, $1250, $2,500
Round 2: $500, $550, $600, $700, $750, $800, $900, $1000, $1250, $1500, $3,500
Round 3: $500, $600, $700, $750, $800,$1000, $1250, $1500, $2000, $4,000
Round 4 and Beyond*: $1,000, $1150, $1200, $1400, $1500, $1600, $1800, $2000, $5,000
*In speed up mode, $1,000 is not added to the speed up as the values have been doubled.
Jackpot has moved back to R2.
Mystery Round has either a prize or car [Worth around $10,000]/
A Prize is added in Rounds 1 and 2. Two gift tags are on the wheel. The WILD Card Stays the same
New GAME PLAY ELEMENT: INSURANCE MARKER [if the contestant calls a letter correct, his/her score [including the MDW and Wild Card] are protected the next time he/she hits bankrupt.
Bonus Round: 10th ANniversary of Bonus Wheel:
$30,000 $35,000 $40,000 $45,000 $50,000 $75,000 $100,000 CAR CAR CAR
Million Dollar Wedge: $30,000 $35,000 $50,000 $75,000 $100,000 $1,000,000 CAR CAR CAR
If you have any ideas for Season 29, please post them.

No chance they bring back the $1,500 space or the free spin token. There's also no chance they're going back to the old commercial break structure.

Don't get your hopes up. I don't see any of this happening. Those wheel configurations are way too expensive, and it would be inconvenient for them not have a commercial before rounds 1, 2, 3, and 4 because they use this time to get wedges on and off the wheel for the next round.
The only changes I think they'll make for season 29 is bumping one of those $300 wedges to $350, changing the color of 1 or 2 wedges, and bringing back the 1/2 car wedges for a week.

Moving Jackpot back to second 2nd. If that happen, they should move Prize Puzzle to Round 1

Moving Jackpot back to second 2nd. If that happen, they should move Prize Puzzle to Round 1 It's possible, realdeo, but I have a feeling the Jackpot is gonna stay there since last season and that the PP appears in either R2 and R3 since early this season.

Isn't the Prize Puzzle supposed to be a surprise for the contestants or something like that? I mean they know about it, but they don't know when it'll happen. As for those ideas, it's too expensive, especially in this economy. They'd go bankrupt with that. (no pun intended) And sure, they'll have some new gameplay elements, but those of which would be highly unpredictable. I think that none of this stuff will happen.

They should just get rid of the Prize Puzzles. They place way too much weight on one round, and it seems that, more often than not, the player who wins the Prize Puzzle goes on to the Bonus Round. To make up for it, go back to having two prizes on the wheel again (one added in each of the second and third rounds)...this way, players have to EARN their prizes (by landing on them, not hitting a Bankrupt, and solving the puzzle), not have them handed to them because they won a round (especially when a player solves the puzzle without even spinning the wheel once!)
I've also never understood the point of the first Toss-up...the only thing the winner gets is $1000 and to be introduced first...

What are you supposed to say to the producers? "Hey, I won a trip to St. Lucia, but I don't want it." The Prize Puzzle should be gone or at least something other than a boring trip.

I would imagine you could turn down any trips you don't want...but if they must do the dumb Prize Puzzles, give out prizes that can be sold on eBay later! ;D

Retire the $1,000 Toss Up. Bring back more "bonus" categories. Use the "rare" categories more often. Retire "What Are You Doing?" or reveal all instances of I, N, and G at the start of the round. Either retire the Wild Card or don't take it away after a Bankrupt, because it hardly gets any use anymore. If it's not retired, award $700 per letter if the WC is picked up. Retire the gift tag or place it over the dollar sign on the pink $300 space to give the contestant $300 per letter in spendable cash. Put the second Mystery Wedge back on the other blue $500 space closer to the Bankrupt near Free Play. Add a sound effect for Lose a Turn hits. Sound effect for letter repeats or missolves. (different from the normal buzzer) Have a special win theme for $100K and/or $1M wins. Have some kind of "you failed" cue (like The Price is Right's losing horns or Millionaire's former $1M question miss cue) for $100K and/or $1M losses. Make Million Dollar Bonus Rounds more suspenseful with less lights or darker music. Make vowels cost $500 or more. Add 4-digit values on the wheel as the game progresses. This would allow for bigger Speed-Up rounds. Use one-word Bonus Round puzzles more often. Have the prize wedge as something other than a trip or cash more often. Something like a motorcycle or boat would be nice to see again. More audience seating, and preferably a more enthusiastic audience, rather than the usual people that come after the Jeopardy! tapings it seems. No super-loud, obnoxious college students like TPIR, though. Stop using pre-recorded audience sounds, mainly the canned "aww"s, gasps, laughter, and applause/cheers...unless that's Pat's wife we hear shrieking during the Prize Puzzle trip description every show. The iconic chant can stay, though. I agree about the Prize Puzzles. It's kind of an unfair advantage. At least offer non-trip prizes more often like before. Also, anybody ever notice that in recent years, the Prize Puzzle trips are always to Hawaii, Carribean, Mexico, Central America, or somewhere else in North America? I thought the staff knew how to handle their budget (unlike a certain other game show...).

Actually, the contestants are told about the Prize Puzzle during the break before Pat announces it, so their reactions when it's announced aren't genuine.

I have some ideas of my own:
1. A new color for LOSE-A-TURN (e.g. Red)
2. Multiple Templates for each round.
3. No more trips as Prize Puzzles
4. New Categories with Bonus Solutions
5. New Theme Song
6. New Puzzle Solve Cue
7. New Prize Music Cues

I hate the south of the border (climate kills ya), so I wouldn't go there.... "Hey directors, take your trip back!".
They should bring back the $1,000 wedge, only opinion of mine that doesn't include the PP.

Here's my changes for season 29 ideals
1: $3,500 is now the top dollar in R1, $5,000 for round 2 and that old gold $10,000 in Round 3 and beyond 2: Mystery round is played for cars again but this time in R1 with the mystery wedges looking like the old $1000 wedge but a ? is placed inside 1 of the 0's 3: Jackpot back in it's original R3 spot 4: No More annoying prize puzzles 5: An update of the set that replaces the videowall behind the contestants with themed backgrounds in contestant colors (I hate that videowall) also between the wheel and center monitor there will be a large sliding door having the 92 logo on it for contestants to come out of, another door will flank the monitor to be used for Pat and Vanna as well as concealing any prizes until the bonus round. A background from the past will be used as intro backgrounds 6: The neon is changed to a metallic silver with the old 81-97 design 7: Joe Ciapriono Announces (I liked him best as Charlie's Replacement) 8: A Gameshow host week with Pat Vanna and Alex playing on Friday of that week, Katie Cantrell(Vanna for a day winner) will do Vanna's job again and one of the male hosts who played earlier in the week will do Pat's job.(This would be revealed on the thursday show)

All of this sounds great! But, as far as the announcing position is concerned, with the season almost over, I have a feeling Jim Thornton may be the permanent announcer for WHEEL considering the majority of episodes he's taped so far.
And as for the set, I agree they REALLY need to get rid of that Video Backwall! That thing is useless. And as far as I'm concerned about the Prize Puzzles, they can get rid of that too if they're not doing anything but giving away the same trips over and over again.
Don't you think?

Well I guess will wait to see if Pat credits Jim as the new announcer at the beginning of the new season but I preferred Joe Ciapriano and that dumb videowall is useless it doesn't do a single bit of good. The board will still be the 52 square electronic to add to my previous post but it will no longer be plus shaped it will become an arch again and the silver will be done in the 94 border style of course lights would now be yellow instead of white as the white could not be seen to well the steps of the board will be turned blue. The wheel's color scheme would change to this patten red-orange-blue-green-gold-yellow-white(lat)-pink-black(bankrupt)-violet(don't call it purple)-sparkly $- repeat The monitor will also be switched from square to triangle to make more room for the doors. Next the bonus wheel will be redone as well to match the silver each letter wedge will be silver but each symbol wedge will be restored to gold, so that is my finishing touches to the show for this new season

Wheel is probably about the only show I've seen on TV that pulls off a video backdrop quite well. For the most part, the backdrops they put on it are tasteful and not too distracting...which is in stark contrast to practically every other show using a straight video backdrop which uses flashy, busy animations that divert your attention away from where it belongs. I would like to see them return to having the colored backdrops, though...but I really don't see that happening. I really don't like the current contestant table at all...pretty much the only things maintaining the old red/yellow/blue colors are the score displays, and the only thing that blinks anymore are the two arrows on the bottom of the monitors. I'd much prefer to go back to the smaller framed displays they had through season 24... Of course, it'd be better if they were still using the old Eggcrate score displays!

Ok I have one last change the podiums return to eggcrate but the lights will form bankrupt and lose a turn when a player hits said wedges also no shrinkage will happen sorry about that cu2010 but I happen to like the giant sized podiums they will just look like eggcrate
