Boo, not even a move over to Localish  Or a one-day delay. And go figure that the J! and WOF weekend reruns will actually be airing on Sunday afternoon this time and not early Saturday morning. This also happened during the same debate in 2017. This was during Austin Rogers' run on J! and since he's from NYC, he publicly called out WABC on Twitter for the pre-emption. WABC's response: "Don't forget about the other game show." |

I don't think WABC has ever aired a non-Friday episode of Wheel or J! on a weekend before. They always slide both shows by a day if anything, even though it doesn't really matter for Wheel most of the time. Moving a Tuesday episode of J! to a weekend but still airing Wed-Fri on the right days leads to continuity issues, though, but I have seen affiliates do that before. Last season, one station that pre-empted both shows on a Wednesday moved the Wednesday ep of Wheel to Saturday and slid the Wed-Fri eps of J! to Thu-Sat.

The season premiere of Celebrity Wheel of Fortune (along with Global Citizen Live and Supermarket Sweep) was pre-empted on KTNV in Las Vegas due to a local broadcast of the Vegas Golden Knights/San Jose Sharks NHL preseason game. CWOF will air at 1:05 AM Pacific.

TUESDAY 9/28 (#S-7437)Posting this in advance because this is a pretty major one. Due to the New Jersey Gubernatorial Debate, Tuesday's episode is pre-empted on WABC in New York and WPVI in Philadelphia. WABC will air Wheel at 3:35 AM Eastern (or possibly 3:37). WPVI will air it at 3:07 AM. In both cases, this replaces part of the Tamron Hall encore. Wheel is aware of this pre-emption and has announced that anything at all will be accepted for the T-Mobile sweepstakes puzzle. |

Wheel will air on WILX-DT2 Heroes & Icons at its normal 7:00 PM Eastern time slot, replacing Baywatch. For viewers who don't get that channel, it will also air at 3:30 AM on WILX, replacing Funny You Should Ask.

TUESDAY 9/28 (#S-7437)WABC will air Wheel at 3:35 AM Eastern (or possibly 3:37). WABC did air Wheel overnight in its entirety, but they totally screwed up the timing of it. Just before the debate started, a brief promo aired announcing that J! and Wheel would air at 3:00 and 3:30 AM, although Xfinity listed them at 3:05 and 3:35. Seeing this, I recorded J! just in case they started Wheel earlier than 3:35 (I normally don't DVR J!). And that's exactly what happened. On my recording of J!, which started at 3:04:30 AM, J! started at the 2:33 mark (3:07:03 AM). The commercial breaks were extremely short. After that finished, there was a brief station ID, then Wheel started at the 27:03 mark of my J! recording, meaning it started at about 3:31 AM. On my recording of Wheel proper, which I had set to start one minute early, it starts at the end of the third interview, and by the time it would have been 3:35 AM, Vanna was already revealing the T's in R1! So anyone who DVR'd only Wheel last night on WABC would have missed the first two Toss-Ups. The show ended at 4:00 AM on the dot. |

On WFTV in Orlando, Florida (ABC), Wheel was pre-empted by a Hispanic heritage special. (And no, the other game show wasn't, of course...)
Thursday's episode will air either on Saturday at 11:35 PM Eastern (slid back if ABC college football overruns) or Sunday at 5:30 PM Eastern. Both are listed as the Season 38 rerun, but the Saturday airing will likely be the Thursday show, since the Sunday slot is the standard CFB season slot for WOF Weekend.

FRIDAY 10/1 (#S-7440)On WTNH in New Haven, Connecticut (ABC), Friday's airing of Wheel had some very bizarre errors. Most of 7440 was unaired and replaced with the majority of an accidental repeat of 7435, the Friday 9/24 episode. List of errors on Friday: - WTNH began airing episode 7435 instead of 7440.
- In Round 1, as soon as Renee (yellow from 7435) spun a Lose a Turn, WTNH abruptly cut to a commercial break for the first of several times.
- The improper commercial break ended and Wheel returned just as Pat threw to commercial at the end of R1, followed by the ABC-exclusive promo for the Season 2 premiere of CWOF, which had already passed.
- There were no commercials between Rounds 1 and 2; just a black screen.
- In Round 2, right after Jacob (blue from 7435) lost $900 to Bankrupt and Pam (red) reached down to spin, WTNH once again cut to a commercial break.
- WTNH returned to Wheel just after Jacob solved R2 and Pat recapped his total score.
- Much of the break between Rounds 2 and 3 was another silent black screen before actual commercials started appearing. After they finished, several more seconds of a silent black screen, then Wheel abruptly comes on shortly into Round 3 of episode 7440, just as Arin (red) goes Bankrupt with only a T on the board. The rest of this segment plays out fine.
- After R3 finished with the Prevagen plug, a few seconds of a silent black screen, then suddenly WTNH switches back to 7435, which abruptly cuts in shortly into Round 4 at the point where Pam buys an I.
- A few seconds later, as Pam gives the Final Spin, WTNH cut the show off for a commercial break for the third time.
- After this commercial break and more black silence, WTNH switched back to 7440, cutting to it just as the first Triple Toss-Up appeared. The rest of the TTU/R4+ segment of 7440 had no issues.
- As soon as 7440 faded to commercial, a few frames of a Lowe's commercial appeared, then about two seconds of Renee's Bonus Round from 7435 appeared (just before the timer started), then WTNH abruptly cut back to commercials.
- A commercial was cut off abruptly and WTNH returned to episode 7440 of Wheel as the Bonus Wheel was slowing down. The rest of the show was fine.
- During the CBS Media Ventures closing logo, 7440 was cut off early and one last brief snippet from 7435 appeared, with Pat and Vanna saying "so long" and "bye-bye", respectively, with perfectly coincidental timing.

SATURDAY 10/2 (#S-7256RR)
This episode was pre-empted twice on FOX stations. The original airing was pre-empted by a COVID-postponed NFL game originally meant for TNF, while the rerun was pre-empted by one of two MLB games, depending on the market.
This episode was also likely pre-empted twice on WWNY in Watertown, NY (CBS). The original airing aired at 2:07 AM due to a local debate. CBS college football ran until about 7:14 Eastern last Saturday, and I believe WWNY airs news after the games and runs them for a full 30 minutes with Wheel afterwards if there's time left, which meant Wheel was probably only seen starting in late Round 3 at the earliest.
WABC in New York aired this weekend's rerun on Sunday at 2:30 PM Eastern instead of the usual 5:00 AM Saturday. This happens sporadically a couple of times during college football season for no apparent reason.
WFTV in Orlando aired #S-7439 starting at about 11:44 PM Eastern on Saturday night. 7256 aired Sunday at 5:30 as usual (assuming WNBA didn't overrun >30 minutes).
Aside from the usual CFB overruns on CBS and ABC (about 20 minutes on the latter), not much else to report nationally.

MONDAY 10/4 (#S-7441)
On KABC in Los Angeles, tonight's episode is being pre-empted due to the Raiders @ Chargers NFL game and will air at 1:36 AM Pacific.
This deviates from KABC's usual tactic of delaying the episode to Saturday to replace the rerun, or sliding the whole week to air on a one-day delay, out of fairness to local contestants. The Saturday rerun is still scheduled to air this week at 9:00 PM.
KABC's Twitter did not make their usual post today promoting the LA area contestants. Either there happen to be no LA area contestants on tonight's episode (or the show swapped it for another ep this week that doesn't have any), or, more likely, they just skipped the tweet since there's no sense in them promoting an episode that won't air when people can actually watch it. Last season, they did do the tweets for episodes that were delayed to Saturdays.

It's that time of the year again. Thursday Night Football on FOX begins tonight, starting at the usual 7:30 PM Eastern, impacting most FOX airings of Wheel.
This is the final season where TNF will be carried on FOX or any TV network. Starting next season, TNF will be exclusively streamed on Prime Video. However, the games will be required to be broadcast on a local station in each team's market, much like Monday Night Football, so there will still be TNF pre-emptions next season, just not as much, hopefully.

Wheel is once again pre-empted by a half-hour local special on WFTV in Orlando, this time on breast cancer awareness. As with last week's pre-emption, the impacted episode will air late Saturday night half an hour after ABC's college football ends, 11:30 PM Eastern at the earliest.
WFTV's programming director stated that there are no more planned weekday pre-emptions of Wheel for the rest of 2021. This includes Christmas Day NBA since it falls on a Saturday this year.

WABC appears to have moved WOF Weekend back to Sunday mornings at 5:00 AM Eastern. I believe it switched slots with Sports Stars of Tomorrow.
CBS had a primetime college football game this weekend. Most Saturdays, CFB on CBS goes until 7:00 Eastern (but always a bit over), but some days during the season, another game is added at 8:00. Their 3:30 game's postgame caused it to overrun to 7:15-ish as usual at the earliest, and the 8:00 game overran a full hour to midnight Eastern. Most CBS affiliates did not air Saturday's rerun except for some 7:30 Eastern airings and a few West Coast ones that were slotted late enough. KRQE in Albuquerque had J!/WOF immediately after the game so neither aired. They also did not air on KBAK in Bakersfield due to a newscast and local program Eyewitness News Investigates sliding back an hour and replacing them. Wheel did air at 9:30 PM Pacific on KLAS in Las Vegas. KVAL in Eugene had it scheduled at 10:30, so I imagine that one aired as well.
ABC's game, as usual, overran to 11:20-ish.
