I couldn't believe seeing Race Game for 4 cars, even less so when they were all won on the first try.

The four cars in Race Game was a HUGE FAIL if you ask me. I disapprove of any pricing game that has a prize worth MORE than both showcases.

I didn't see the show, but I heard about how it began -- perfect bid, followed by a Race Game exacta for FOUR CARS!
That's the first time a car's been used with Race Game, which had previously been the oldest game in the rotation (the oldest game period?) to never use a car.
(EDIT: ...Wait, that was over $80,000 of cars. Won. On opening day. At the top of the show. Just after a perfect bid. And they were worth more than both Showcases combined?! ......Budget Mode's coming earlier and earlier each year, isn't it?)

Yeah...the four cars in Race Game is probably one of the single worst ideas on the show ever. If you must play a game for four cars, at least put it in a game that's a bit more difficult to win...

I guess I'll post a quick recap, then. (thanks to qwizx.com for the full recap) PG1: Contestant Sharon gives a surprisingly perfect bid of $668 on an iPad. Could she be a (rare for these days) Loyal Friend and True? She's playing Race Game for FOUR CARS!! She get's all 4 correct on the first try in only 13 seconds!PG2: Corrine wins an $8,008 trip to Miami playing Double Prices, followed by a clip from the first TPIR show featuring Bob welcoming viewers! PG3: Mary has a chance to win a computer, a scooter, and jewelry playing Most Expensive. She goes with the scooter. Is she right?...NOPE. That was actually the least expensive. The computer was the highest. SCSD 1: Mary, the only loser of the half, wins with $.95 PG4: Eric plays Range Game for a sailboat. Unfortunately, he stopped the range too high (not quite common among Range Game losses these days). PG5: Ann's going to play Plinko! She's the first contestant in a while to earn all 4 additional chips! She "wins" $12,000! After that is a clip from the first playing of Plinko. PG6: Jacob plays...another surprise... 3 Strikes! That sure was unexpected in the last slot. Unfortunately, he won't be taking home a Porsche Boxster. He drew all 3 strikes after lighting up only the first two numbers. SCSD 2: Eric might be able to redeem himself after winning Showcase privileges with $.85 Showcase 1: A video game package of all three major consoles including the upcoming TPIR Decades game! Also, a 46" TV, a trip to Dubai, and a Chevy Camaro! Eric has the honor. He passes to Mary, who bids $42,000. Showcase 2: This is one of those unfortunate two-prize showcases: a trip to San Francisco in a private jet, and a Hyundai Sonata hybrid. Eric bids $34,000. The Big Reveal: ARP of Mary's showcase...$50,969 ( ) for a difference of $8,969. Eric's showcase is worth...$45,429 for a difference of $11,429. Mary is the big winner! The final stats of the show: The usual 2 pricing game wins (3 if you count Plinko a win), and $158,502 in cash and prizes given away.

Yeah...the four cars in Race Game is probably one of the single worst ideas on the show ever. If you must play a game for four cars, at least put it in a game that's a bit more difficult to win... Yeah, I mean if a win in most other car games is "one car" then our player today could still have won that and not win the game. I think it was very generous move by the show (and one of the best surprises EVER). 3 Strikes was also another great surprise. To see it played in a spot other than 1st was a real treat. I could be dissapointed that today wasn't a three car-game show, however that would be silly considering the way the show started. lol

Guess since this won't be saved, I'll keep it short...
Racey: Awesome. And actually, I think Mike wanted it won 100%, or at least 2. He wanted the huge start.
3X last: Awesome. Was overdue for the loss though, despite the bungling of the 1st digit (enough of that too, that HAS been continuing).
Rest: Eh... Plinko was set up well, Range Game was too explicitly hard though. SCs were a good balance of high but not over the top after earlier events, and for sexed up SCs decently good bids.
Looking forward to more classic clips this week.
Uh... the SCs were about 96.5k today. That's more than 78.5k. Nice try though, Kori!

Wow, what a show. There's really not much to be said here, just that Mike finally figured out how to put a season premiere together, much to my pleasant surprise. It amused me to see the perfect bid on the $668 iPad start out the season (there seemed to be a group chanting it). It also excited me because I knew, since she was playing the first game of S40, she would get a big game and as a good contestant maybe have a chance to win it. When I saw Race Game revealed, I was confused for half a second and then I realized that it could only be for four cars. Then she goes and wins it on her first try and it completes the most perfect opening to a season ever, complete with her reaction actually being focused on for a minute - Drew realized it was a special moment so he didn't rush along. The rest of the show could have consisted of Double Prices played 5 times at that point, and it would have been fine.
But it didn't. We had the triumphant return of Plinko to a season premiere. We had BOB clips appearing on new DREW shows for the first time - the Plinko one in particular was nice to see! Priceisright.com made it sound like we will keep getting classic clips throughout the season too - that would be really nice. And finally, to put a cherry on top, we had 3 Strikes 6th for the first time since 1997! What a great buildup at the end - that Porsche was definitely one nice last surprise. Unfortunately, I knew our luck was due to run out in that game, and it did run out today, but honestly it couldn't have done it on a better day. The budget would have been blown to smithereens if both Race Game and 3 Strikes were won anyway.

Yawn...2/6 again... (note, my commentary will almost always be based mostly or entirely on a recap) Dice: Rolling 3s and 4s are the worst part of the game. Other than that, HE (thanks, Wayoshi) played well. OWP: The motorcycle obviously wasn't wrong. When will people know that almost all motorcycles end in -99? True, it could have still been wrong and -99, but the last two digits aren't usually the same on the wrong price vs. the right one. Plus, I thought the washer/dryer was obvious. This should not have been lost the way it was. Grocery: Well played. That was a bit unprofessional of Rachel, though. Are they really THAT pressed for time now? Magic #: Will we EVER see somebody NOT set it under $1,500?! Even though the setup was pretty evil with a small spread. Rat Race: Great job! ;D Flip Flop: Yet another evil "each digit on each panel is 1 away" setup. Showcases: Good Showcases today...but what was Brandon thinking? And after he played Grocery Game so well (though probably wasn't expecting the cheese to be so much).

I could be dissapointed that today wasn't a three car-game show, however that would be silly considering the way the show started. lol Mike has pretty much proved he's never doing three car-game shows anymore. He chooses surprises like Race Game and 3 Strikes 6th instead (also, Stack the Deck for a BMW last season), which is not a bad alternative. Race Game: I never thought they'd actually do that on daytime! And she played great, not to mention the perfect bid. Looks like she somehow slipped past and we actually got a true viewer/player as a contestant. DP: Pretty easy setup, and great win. The new screen looks great. There was some editing on the reveal, though. You could see people applauding on the close-up shot before any audience sounds were heard. Most Expen$ive: Not easy at all. Any choice looked like it could have won, but it looks like scooters are being used as trap items in this game now. Range Game: At least he aimed high. It looks like they actually wanted this won, though. Plinko: Nice to finally see someone get all 4 chips! ;D 3 Strikes: Last?! Too bad it ended its streak, though. -416? Pretty random, but the prices almost always are here. Showcases: I wonder if a prize was taken out of SC2 because of the Race Game win. Also, did the audience really get to take home the game, or was it just for the camera and will they get it shipped when it's actually released? If they actually got it that day...lucky! I doubt most of them have a 360, though. They should have been able to choose what version they wanted. Another little thing I noticed on the game...the PS3 version has the PSN logo on the box. I hope this doesn't mean online play or downloadable stuff for them or 360, because chances are, Wii won't have those. (But what PS3 game DOESN'T support PSN? )

Actually watched the show today, just a few comments-
The "new" light border...not a fan. I like how they took last season's border and made it silver...but taking the outside frame away makes it look like just a frame of lights floating in midair attached to nothing.
The yellow One-Bid podium...is too hard to read...
I'm quite impressed with the directing of Michael Dimich. He's not perfect, but he's introduced a few cool new shots...and he got rid of a lot of the stuff that bugged me about Rich DiPirro's directing (namely, Rich's overuse of the shot of the audience.). Now they just need to get rid of those awful graphics and go back to simpler, blinking ones...
Gah. Rat Race already. But yay...Magic #!

Amit was actually a guy, Mario. Good thing your note excuses yourself OK show. Dicey was pretty hard but he got close. M# was good to see but impossible (this game should never be such). Flippy was its usual self. Rachel definitely got lazy though... good to see Ratty start off well this season.

I hate to double post (just for bumping purposes. I'll merge later), but I'm surprised that nobody brought up that guy on G-R who posted everything about Race Game for 4 cars and 3 Strikes last to spoil everyone. I'm sure I wasn't the only one who didn't believe him. Who do you think that was, anyway?

He thought the DiPirro account was fake for some reason.
