1. When it comes to Wheelmobile auditions, and having the final auditions in the same area where the Wheelmobile was, does the casting crew ever consider those that auditioned who are OUTSIDE of the area? I am from Georgia, and while it's not too bad of a drive from where I am in Georgia to Raleigh/Durham, North Carolina, I think that this might be a reason as to why I may not receive an invitation for a final audition, because I am not from that area. How far of a drive is it? I know they realise some people may audition at an event outside of their area. I seem to recall them simply telling people not to go through great expenses or taking time off since there is no guarantee anyone makes it. Having said that, you get to make the final call. If you are to get a final audition via the wheel mobile event, they will offer it to you to at that location. They give you the opportunity to let them know if you are far away and they could contact you when there is a closer audition. I do not think they would eliminate you because of distance. I live in north Central Wisconsin and the only major centers near me are three hours away. Heh, I was not going to miss it for the world, it was an awesome experience just to audition and no distance was going to stop me from having fun. I hope you get an audition, I cannot even say enough about the crew, Shannon, Teddy and Alex were fantastic, we eventually met Jackie in LA and she was the same as the other 3, they were all so kind. Anyways, best of luck!

Anyways, best of luck! From where I am in Georgia to Raleigh/Durham, North Carolina, it is roughly a 7 hour drive (if you go the entire way without stopping). I actually went to the event from Maryland, when I went to see my sister have her baby boy. (I still intended to go the Wheelmobile event, anyway, regardless if my sister was going to have her baby around that time or not.) I mentioned in my interview with Mr. Marty Lublin that while I am from Georgia, I came from Maryland because of my sister having her baby. I thought this story would make me stand out from other hopefuls, but I also think it might have set me back since I had to come a long way. I won't give up, hope, though. I think I shined well on stage that my performance outweighed other factors, such as location and age. - acwof

Hi, everyone. This is acwof.
I apologize for the double post, but I just wanted to ask a quick question regarding the Wheelmobile auditions.
It has now been a little over three months since my Wheelmobile audition in Raleigh/Durham, North Carolina, and I was told that anyone who did well at their Wheelmobile audition will be notified for a final audition in late summer.
Since we are in mid-late July, it should be high time for those who "passed" the Wheelmobile audition in North Carolina to hear back for a final audition, especially since tapings for Season 36 start on Thursday, the 26th.
Is it normal to wait this long, though, for a callback for a final audition? I am just wondering because I have heard cases of people hearing back within a week or two/a month after a Wheelmobile event to a few months, and I just want to be sure that this long wait time is normal.
If it helps, I have not heard anything about final auditions happening in North Carolina, nor have I heard anyone say about being notified for a final audition in North Carolina.
Thanks for your advice/answers!

Hi, For what it's worth, I auditioned in October (the 8th), got the email for the second audition, which was set up for the next April, and did that. Got THE LETTER May 1st, informing me that I made it to the show. Got a call from the Producers in mid-June, asking if I could come out to CA to play the game July 14th. Had tons of fun and waited for my show to air, October 5th. So pretty much just under a year from when I first auditioned.....hope you hear something soon!

For what it's worth I also went to the Raleigh/Durham audition and got called up on stage in Durham. I've gotten no email or letter yet, but will post on here if/when I do. I believe I gave a better than average audition after seeing a number of people who just responded to Marty with a quiet "yes" or "no" to his questions with too much nervous laughing.

Out of the three "shows" for the event, when, exactly, did you get called up on stage? I got called up on stage at the start of the second show, when the applications were orange. - acwof

I can't remember the application color, but I was near the end of the second show. The puzzle was "Baseball Cap" If you were called up during the second show, like me, then the color of the application was orange. Since you were called up on stage during the second show, do you remember seeing a male with dark brown hair, glasses, and wearing a beige long sleeve shirt and black pants up on stage?, who mentioned that he just became an uncle, liked to listen to Green Day and Blink 182, and write fanfiction? He also solved his group's puzzle, which was "Power Couple"? If you did, then that was me. - acwof

But here's to us both making it to the next round A little back of the envelope math: - 6 to 7 groups of 5 people got called up for each "show" - 6 shows in total in Raleigh-Durham for about 200 total to make it on stage - From what I've seen from searching around the web, about 70 people get called back, though some, they said, are randomly chosen among those who didn't get called on stage. - Lets make a guess and say 20 are randomly chosen and 50 are from those called on stage (I'd think they'd wanna go with more people who they actually got to see rather than a random personality) - 50/200 or 25% of those on stage will get the call/e-mail for the second interview If you were able to just respond appropriately to the questions and the people in the audience could hear your voice, you did better than half the people that were called up on stage.

I actually think that there are going to be two final auditions on whatever day final auditions will happen; one that takes place in the morning, and one that takes place in the afternoon, both having about 70 people each. (If I'm wrong, someone correct me.) This means that there would be about 140 people total taking part in the final auditions. I also honestly think that a little more than 250 people were on stage from all six shows combined, since each Wheelmobile event can average about 35-45 people on stage per show, and with six shows, that would mean that around 250-270 were people called, altogether. With all of this being said, along with the possibility of two final auditions, I would say that probably about 100/250 or so people on stage will move on to the final auditions, while about 40 out of the hundreds who applied, but did not get on stage, will be selected from the second chance drawing. By the way, welcome to the BuyAVowel Board woosewoo! I hope your Wheelmobile audition went well, and I second to us hopefully getting the magical letter/email for the final audition! - acwof

Hi everyone! I've been scrolling through these posts and the posts about final auditions a bit obsessively over the last few days. I got a notification about the Wheelmobile event this past weekend (Sept 15th and 16th) at the Mount Airy Casino in the Poconos in PA. Thankfully, I had no plans for Saturday, so I made the two-hour drive from the Philly area with my very supportive husband (who had no interest in auditioning!). I had never been to a Wheelmobile event, and thankfully, I found this forum before I went, so thank you all for your awesome preparation posts!
It was not terribly crowded - the seats that they set out in the outdoor concert stage were not full at all, at least for the first show - but as round after round went by in the first show, I began to worry that I would not get called up. Thankfully, just as Marty announced that it would be the last group of the first show, I was called up to the stage! I mentioned that my husband was in the audience, and we got a nice "aww"/claps from the audience, and I told him that I was hoping to get on Wheel and maybe win some prize money to help us build an adoption fund so that we can start a family (cue more "aww"s/claps). I'm hoping this set me apart and gets me a final audition invitation! I was 4th in line, so I only got to call one letter, but from the advice on this forum, I went with "E", and I made sure to be loud and clear. I don't know what else they could really go on, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'll be getting a letter or e-mail sometime "in the next few months," as Marty told us.
Just wanted to share my experience and thank you all for your posts. I may be posting more in the next few months as I get anxious to see if I get invited to the final auditions!

It seems as though the Wheelmobile just got an updated look.
I saw a photo that someone took of the Wheelmobile in Arizona (it will be there this weekend), and the Wheelmobile now has a puzzleboard beside Pat and Vanna that says "YOU COULD BE A CONTESTANT!". The puzzleboard seems to have replaced the Wheel that is usually by Pat and Vanna.

Went to a Wheelmobile event yesterday in the Des Moines area. I didn't get picked to go up on stage, but I had an absolute blast! I went to the first game of the day, and was going to stay for the second, but it was apparently filled to capacity. I didn't want to stick around for the third game, as I actually live two hours away from the event. There were some really good puzzle-solvers, though. The first round was correctly solved with just two letters showing, and the second round was solved with just three.
I think what I was most nervous about was wondering what I would say if I got picked during the contestant interview. I'd decided beforehand I was going to mention I have a photographic memory and can remember, in detail, life events that happened 25+ years ago (I'm 30). I thought I would also mention that I'm a movie collector and own probably about 100 or so movies on Blu-ray, DVD and VHS. Obviously I don't need to worry about that since I didn't get picked, but it really challenged me to try and find something unique about myself.

Ok. Sooooo, I attended both days of the Wheelmobile in Iowa this past weekend. I had a lot of fun too, but I have to admit, there were a lot of people that got picked that, let's be honest, won't move onto the second round. This may make me sound bitter (since the person I was with didn't get picked either), but there really was a lack of good personality up on stage. Case in point, there was a young man that went up on stage with a slack-jaw look about him. When Marty interviewed him, he mumbled his answers, stated that he didn't do anything for a living, and that his only past-time was playing video games. This guy had NO enthusiasm about wanting to be interviewed, nor wanting to play the game. Believe it or not, his grandmother was picked in the third event of the day, and she was no better!
Most people who got up on stage gave the exact same answers to Marty's questions! Whatever happened to being special? Just about everyone enjoyed traveling to nowhere special, baking...anything, and hanging out with grandchildren as if that's an amazingly spectacular thing to do. When you sit through game after game, hearing the SAME THING over and over, it becomes mind-numbing. I really hoped there would be more hobby diversity and more unusual stories, but once again I got robbed.
Final note, too, is that Marty clearly tells the audience to show excitement, bring your A-game, and be energetic at all times once your name is called. Why no one seems to listen to him is beyond me. Most people get picked, stand up, and just casually walk to the registration desk. Clearly they don't understand the extreme odds of having your name called from 900 other tickets in that drum. Others did yell and jog up front, but they were few and far between, for the most part. Such a shame, because it's extreme luck getting picked, and I wonder if these people really understand just how wonderful that experience is during a Wheel audition event.
This isn't just indicative of Iowa, I should note. The same sort of thing happened in Fargo, ND and Hinckley, MN too. Perhaps this isn't a regional problem, but more nation-wide. I don't know, I haven't traveled to many outside of the 5-state area. I just shake my head, though, because the Wheel crew is looking for interesting people, and it seems that the great majority don't, or won't, show much enthusiasm. Why did they even show up and wait in the long line if they don't want to go up on stage?
Also, since I don't travel too far outside the Minnesota region, does anyone out there in the know, know how often the Wheelmobile is in the midwest region? For the Iowa event, Marty made mention that they haven't been back to Iowa since 2005. Wow, that's 14 years. If anyone is tracking locations and doing statistics, I'd love to know the frequency of their stops. Thanks for hearing me out.

Hey, Pakman & princessd don’t give up if you want it. I went to Wheelmobile in Denver around 2006, never got called. Went in 2015, got lucky enough to get on stage. I tried to stand out by saying I like Zumba, so of course Marty had the DJ play music for me to dance. I also mentioned Special Olympics with our son, as no one mentions that. Alas, no callback that year, but I decided I wasn’t done. Each fall for 3 years, I sent in a video saying how much fun I had at Wheelmobile. When they had auditions in Denver in 2018, I was invited. I had studied this forum so I knew what to expect, and how to act. I had my mini speech ready too.
It paid off, as well as practicing like crazy. My dream of being a contestant came true last October & I did well (when the Wheel cooperated).
So if you want it, keep trying!

I, like yourself, have already been on the show---back in 2006. I had just went along to this Wheelmobile event for support. Yes, I know it can take awhile, that's for sure! I was lucky my Wheel journey was not years in the making. See, you at least had studied this forum and did have a speech ready. That was a step up from most everyone at the Iowa event. It was quite the experience this past weekend, to say the least

Oops, I wasn’t paying attention, didn’t see that you are an alumni as well. I think it would be fun to go to another Wheelmobile event when they come back to Denver sometime. Would be a whole different perspective
