Take your time on ripping your shows.
Like I asked earlier, did Double Play get any action on your shows? And do you know if it was lost to Bankrupt and what would happen to it if someone used it and spun a prize or Free Spin?

I hit double Play on my first show, and since I knew the puzzle and there were 2-C's available, I decided to hand it to Pat & play it right away.. Next spin, hit $400, so $800. in play for 2- C's. It would get lost on a Bankrupt, but think it was out of play on goodie wedges or free spins, and would carry over until u spin a $$$ amount or call a DUD., but don't hold me to those options.

Interesting. So if you hit Bankrupt while holding the Double Play (but not using it), you would have to give it up much like a prize? I know if it was used before a Bankrupt (or Lose a Turn) it was not returned. It happened with the latter once on a Hawaii show, to which Pat commented "Two times zero is zero".

I just found out Steve, that you were on the same week as the Shannon/Stewart/Greg episode was aired, and the Monday episode of the week did have a walk-through the bonus prize display for the week and as it came back to me, the Shannon/Stewart/Greg episode was aired on October 17, 1995. So your episodes aired on GSN on August 11-13, 1999 preceding the J! episodes that originally aired on July 13-15, 1987 and again from January 29-February 5, 2000. The Shannon/Stewart/Greg episode was rerun on January 16, 2000 but was previously rerun on August 6, 1999 preceding the July 8, 1987 episode of J!.

^ Ivoryface is like that everywhere. Just stream of consciousness free-flow gibberish focused entirely on minutiate. I have yet to see him make one coherent post in ANY forum, and I've seen him in several. (He's Irismason on the Game Show Forum).

That's interesting, the DP would "carry over" if a prize wedge/FS was hit.

I have never seen Wheel on GSN, didn't even kniow that GSN ran re-runs, so all my info is from the actual tape and air-dates, and my own recollections .

Wow...Who Said It? came earlier than I thought. This is great, but I do still have a few questions before I add it into my compendium (found by using the links button on top, BTW)... - I know the answers to the Who Said It? questions, but how were they written on the little strip on the bottom? In other words, the little details, like whether or not middle initial was included, etc.) - Did the Before & After puzzle from your first show use a period on the board? This seems to be before what we know to be the first instance of a period on the board, so I'm curious. - What was the bonus puzzle from your second show? Also...did your shows air in September or October? Because Friday 20th/Monday 23rd/Tuesday 24th matches up with October that year. Also...interesting, the $500/everyone can guess rule on Clue/Fill in the Blank/Next Line Please/Where Are We? carried over to Season 13? Never would have guessed that. Also, no need to feel rushed or anything with this. Take your time (might be better if you did that, actually; I've been having more trouble gathering information from seasons much more recent ). This information is awesome.

I see you finally got quoting down. A long puzzle for Round 1? That was pretty rare back then. And interesting to know that the "new" bonus rules weren't in place yet. Are you sure A COVEY OF QUAIL was Thing and not Things? That would definitely go down as "Living ThingS" today. What I find really surprising is that I finally have a date for this one moment I saw a few years ago. Round 2 on 10/23 was when the Yellow contestant (John) blew over $14,000 (or something like that) by accidentally asking to buy a Y. He quickly corrected himself to I, but the "first letter we heard" rule kicked in and was penalized. Do you remember if the $250 was deducted? One recollection says yes, but there was a time about a year ago where a contestant accidentally asked to buy a T and was penalized but didn't lose the $250. I remember reading about it on a personal website John had several years ago and posted the audio of the mishap (he also randomly guessed "BUFFALO BILL'S DEFENSIVE LINE" for the Speed-Up puzzle...). Then he posted a video clip of it on his YouTube account. It's not up anymore, but now that I look back, I remember you were in the red position in the clip. John's flipper was sitting on $2500, so I imagine he called a pretty good letter, and the entire audience moaned when Pat penalized him. Did John win anything in the end? I bet he was kicking himself when taping ended. What was the "house minimum" at the time, as in, the amount you received for solving a puzzle with little to no money? Was it $200 or $500? Today, it's $1000. Sorry if you feel like you're being bombarded with questions, but us Wheel historians love to narrow down things like notable events, rule changes, etc.

Also, another quick question:
Did Pat make any mention of Who Said It? being a brand-new category? Or just fairly new?

The B&A DID have the period on the board( which is why, after I called the T, I called an M. Thinking the abbreviation was MOUNT, not SAINT. As it turned out, there were 3 M's,, after which I knew he puzzle, Which I went on to solve !!! Bonus puzzle from Oct 23 show was. PAPRIKA.
