Charlie only announced it on 10/24. He didn't on the other two shows.
Wow, Steve. You sure have seen and done it all. You were an undefeated champ, you got to see Pat spin a Bankrupt, and you got to touch and use the short-lived Double Play.
Going back to the Double Play, I asked earlier whether you would have to give it up if you landed on Bankrupt while having it in your possession, but not having used it yet. I know it was considered wasted if USED on one, but do you remember was it lost to Bankrupt much like prize wedges were, Steve? Some recollections say it was not, though I'm sure if it were still around today, that would have changed.
"A COVEY OF QUAIL" would make a pretty evil Bonus Round puzzle today. Here's something you might not know, Steve. If they edited down rounds back then like they do today, out of all the wrong letters that were called, the only ones that would have aired were N, T, and B. The cycles of R-S-Lose a Turn and M-D-G would have been cut out.
So I see they still used the old CBS Television City applause machine in Sony...The same old "ooOOOOoo" that was constantly used from 1990-95 when people landed on or close to something good was also used when Tracey hit $1500 (11:57), and there's this quiter "ooh" that was used in several episodes of Price is Right in its earliest days that I heard at least 5 times across the first two shows alone, notably after Stacey hit $3500. It was played twice, one right after another (30:53), and it was played again when she missed it (32:07).
Thanks so much for uploading these, Steve. It really reminds me of how much more enjoyable the show was back then than it is today. One more question, do you remember about how long it took to reload the board with a new puzzle?
