I think that's a thing of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." I don't have a problem with how they are now. There really isn't a need to change them. True. Minor visual changes shouldn't matte all that much. Even so, I miss some of the category swipes from the mid 90s, you know the ones where the multcolored Wheel rolled across the screen? Those were nice. BTW, guys, based off of MarioGS' descriptions, I made a little comic with impressions of how the Express wedge works, featuring my Sonic fursona, Billy Hedgehog. Sorry I don't have the scoreboard or the category font.

Very nice, Will. That's actually very close to how we'll see it play out, though the window is a bit smaller, the score is white, and the "Express" bug is yellow and the same style as it appears on the wedge. And players don't necessarily have to spin again if they decline the Express. The scoreboard font is Univers 85 Extra Black, and the category font is Gotham Bold (Gotham Black also works). Though next time, please use my better Wild Card instead of that one I made back in 2011 that I see everyone on DeviantArt using. I find that one hideous compared to my current version.

I think you're going to be a little embarrassed when I tell you I used WheelGenius' Wild Card from his DeviantArt gallery, MarioGS. Despite that, I appreciate the info on everything else. I'll update it when I get the chance.

Wheelgenius' Wild Card IS mine. He even mentions it in the description on DeviantArt. I made it back in April 2011 when someone requested a Wild Card graphic in the former unified art thread. Shortly after that, wheelgenius began using it on his Wheels and posted the card itself (which I don't mind at all), but I have since replaced it on this forum with better ones over time.

I find that one hideous compared to my current version. It's not assuming when the maker of the Wild Card says the reason why...

Guys, there is no need to respond to woffanallhisife...he clearly hasn't learned proper forum etiquette. He won't be around to respond any longer.
Continue on with the topic at hand, please.

Anyways this doesn't seem to be a popular opinion but even though i do kind of like the category wipes, I would not mind change for change's sake. I'm ready for something new! Same with the B/W graphics on the contestant score screens. Those have been the same since what, S25?

I'm hoping for a friend's sake that there's some sort of a Family week this season - it's been almost two years since she and her dad were accepted as contestants, and she's been dying to tape. I'll let you know if she gets her notice and I don't see it up on the calendar yet

This thread is going on 24-hour lockdown to hopefully calm things down around here. Banhammer needs a rest. FWIW, I hate these long-ass "general information" threads...next season, one thread per topic, not a thousand topics per thread, please.

Vowels on Express are simple: They cost you $250 if it's there, and if it's not, the "purchase" is overridden by the Bankrupt. I think the timer for contestants to make decisions is displayed on the Used Letter Board. It's on a red, 7-segment display under (or over, I forget) the Used Letter Board.

(although I still have no idea how they determine when to sound the Final Spin chimes). I think the timer for contestants to make decisions is displayed on the Used Letter Board. I would assume someone in the control room has a stopwatch, timing out how much material they have taped so far, and once a certain point has come up, they sound the chimes. If they were to run past this point without stopping, I'm guessing they'd be left with an excessive amount of editing to get down to a half-hour show for broadcast.

Incidentally, how long do they have to make certain decisions? I know 3 seconds to solve during Speed-Up, and 10 seconds to solve in the bonus round, but not sure beyond that...

Mario, the timer is UNDER the used letter board.
Bryce, all decisions (other than the ones you mentioned) are FIVE seconds. You have that amount of time to decide whether to spin/buy/solve, call a letter once Pat declares the amount of your spin or you declare that you want to buy, and start solving once you declare to solve (if the buzzer sounds, you may continue, if it's an uninterrupted solve). I do believe that the Mystery Wedge decision is an untimed decision, usually because Pat is talking through it.

I would assume someone in the control room has a stopwatch, timing out how much material they have taped so far, and once a certain point has come up, they sound the chimes. I don't know if they are quite that precise. If there is a null cycle, they would have to go back and figure out how much time to add back on to the clock. Plus, whenever that magic point has come up, it would still depend on how much time the Speed Up takes to determine what else needs to be removed. After all these years, I wouldn't be surprised if somebody had a feeling based on the game situation and what has been revealed in the current round when to ring the bells.

Deciding whether to use the Wild Card (only if Pat convinces you) also appears to be an untimed decision.
And correct me if I'm wrong, Jonathan (or any contestant), but if you ask to solve, you can back out only if you don't start your answer, correct? Once you start an answer, you can't back out (but you can start over before you finish or before Pat or the judge can comment on the solve)?
