I believe I've seen it around 1988, but I don't remember how it worked. Think it was just a regular prize with question marks on it.

When did the show stop offering prizes under $5,000? I know the earliest possible point was S25, as I recall several trips worth $4,500 in S24. I'm almost sure this rule was in place by S27.

Was the 1983 Battle of the Sexes Week a daytime thing?

I noticed there was a rare Mexico trip that I don't think was purchased during the second season of syndicated Wheel of Fortune. I think the destination started with the letter Z, and while most Mexican trips offered during that time frame were below $2,000, this was one rare Mexico trip that cost more than $2,000. What was the name of that place in Mexico that started with Z?

I think the destination started with the letter Z, and while most Mexican trips offered during that time frame were below $2,000, this was one rare Mexico trip that cost more than $2,000. What was the name of that place in Mexico that started with Z? Probably Zapopan, only place in Mexico that's remotely large and starting with Z (8th largest in Mexico by 2010 census). Wheel would offer it because: It's known for miracles and such by various popes, notably visited John Paul II in 1979, which might have been fresh on a few Roman Catholic minds. Last but not least, it has the Virgin of Zapopan statue; a 16th Century Virgin Mary. In other words, it's a holy land experience, with Chile Rellenos on the side. Not much to do otherwise, though, but it's interesting: Ixtépete, an 82 foot long pyramid, and the La Mojonera Ranch, the place of the 1873 Battle of La Mojonera. The other possibilities, if unlikely, are Zacatecas and Zinacantepec, both with under 200,000 people.

Was the 1983 Battle of the Sexes Week a daytime thing? ...I've never even heard of this. The earliest such week I'm aware of is February 27-March 2, 1984. Maybe you're thinking of Couples Week (November 7-11, 1983)? Regardless, the "special" weeks (Couples, Battle of the Sexes, Teen, College, Family, Armed Forces, [City], Celebrity) seem to have been daytime-only until Season 6 used Family and College, although I've heard there was a Battle of the Sexes week in Season 5 just before the Big Month of Cash.

Oops! I meant Couples Week. Thanks for the correction, Dan. I was thinking it was Daytime since there was a promo for WNBC's Live at 5 at the beginning.

A couple questions as regards solving the puzzle: - Are contestants explicitly told to space out the words more when solving the puzzle than when using normal speech?
- What happens if the judges and/or Pat cannot hear a puzzle solve clearly enough to judge it?

Pat has asked people to repeat solves if they think they heard a mispronounciation but it wasn't clear enough to declare it incorrect.

Does anyone know if there's any particular reason they dubbed over the old cues with the current ones in the opening moments this past season?

I can't speak for any official rules (yet), but at my audition I just happened to do so just to be careful that I was, in fact, saying each word correctly and not omitting anything (or adding something that wasn't there).

Has a contestant ever hit the same wedge five consecutive times in one round?

Yes. At least two people have hit Free Play five times in a row, and there was someone in S26 who played the entire round and hit the pink $900 on all of his spins.

I've seen someone claim on a YouTube video that a Season 13 episode had the $10K prize placed on the wrong Bankrupt and Double Play on the blue $200 next to $1000 at least in R3. The person's obviously too young to have seen any S13 episodes in original broadcast, but there's no note of this on the Wiki. Can anyone confirm this?

Pat has asked people to repeat solves if they think they heard a mispronounciation but it wasn't clear enough to declare it incorrect. That happened recently with THROW CAUTION TO THE WIND CHIMES. He slurred the word "throw" so it sounded a little off, so Pat asked him to repeat it.

^ After he repeated it, he was declared correct.
