Wheel needs to lighten up on their tight scheduling policy. It's in such a tight window that it gets screwed by live evening sports, award ceremonies, and especially when stations like WKRN Nashville constantly slot random local specials in Wheel's tight 6:30 CT "News/Wheel/Primetime" sandwich. Well, speak of the devil. WKRN Nashville is pre-empting Wheel again with an "epidemic" special titled Fentanyl: The Third Wave. They managed to go a long period of a entire month and a half without pre-empting the show, at least. This time, Wheel is not in the listings at all. However, WKRN's website says it will air at 12:07AM CT as usual. In order to DVR tonight's show, you will have to schedule a recording for Dr. Phil. Still think Nashville is a "Great American City", Wheel? Because they sure don't seem to think Wheel is a "Great American Show".
Nashville's not the only market with a local special pre-emption tonight. KYTV in Springfield, Missouri (NBC) is airing a severe weather special titled Survive the Storm. Tonight's episode will air this Saturday afternoon at 12:30PM CT. This move does not affect Friday's episode or the Saturday rerun.
Finally, a strange scheduling anomaly has shown up in one market. ABC affiliate WPBF in West Palm Beach, Florida has replaced the 7:00PM ET hour on Thursdays on its schedule with "To Be Announced". As of now, no Thursday episodes of Wheel or Jeopardy! are listed at all. There is no indication on WPBF's website or social media about any local special programming, and its own website still has the game shows scheduled as normal. West Palm Beach viewers will have to manually schedule a recording for 7:00 on Thursdays for now.

Another station might have had a small change of heart at the last minute.
WSEE in Erie, Pennsylvania (which also serves as Puerto Rico's CBS affiliate) did not have the affected weekday episodes of Wheel or Jeopardy! scheduled at all. However, listings now show two airings of each show's Saturday rerun on Saturday: Wheel at 5:00 and 7:00PM ET, J! at 5:30 and 7:30. Although they are both listed as the same repeats, it is very likely that the 5:00 hour airings are make-up airings of this week's Thursday or Friday episodes. The station's website still has the 5:00 and 5:30 slots as Paid Programming.

Another station with incorrect listings... WNEM in Bay City, Michigan aired Jeopardy! and Wheel in the vacant morning hour left by Let's Make a Deal last week. This week, their schedule showed that Thursday and Friday's shows would air Saturday afternoon - J! at 12:30 and 1:00PM ET, followed by Wheel at 1:30 and 2:00. Their website also had this scheduling. However, tenpoundhammer who receives this station said that they aired promos stating that Wheel and J! would air on its MyTV .2 subchannel (also known as "WNEM-TV 5 Plus") at their regular times, but Bobby couldn't verify this since he doesn't receive the subchannel. Although J! and Wheel are still listed, WNEM is airing an infomercial instead, meaning they likely did air on the subchannel on the affected weekdays, even though the 7:00 and 7:30 time slots were listed respectively as a local newscast and Access.

I also want to point out that two markets do not have Thursday's Wheel listed at all, but do have Friday's (KHOU Houston at 2:37AM CT and WMAZ Macon at 5:00PM ET on Saturday). This could suggest that the Thursday and Friday episodes will be delayed to replace Friday's episode and the Saturday rerun, which is not affected on CBS this week since there are no aired games that day. [Correction: CBS aired one game at 3:00PM ET] KHOU Houston aired the rerun yesterday, meaning they skipped Thursday's episode altogether. Thanks to eybyon for verifying this. Wasn't able to check WMAZ Macon but I imagine they did the same.
Local anomaly: WHIO Dayton is currently adding a crawl to Wheel warning viewers that DISH is threatening to drop the station. Since the crawl would otherwise interfere with the category strip, the footage is slightly "squashed" upwards. The crawl remains on screen for about the first 2 1/2 minutes of the show, then it disappears while still leaving a black void under the footage for another 3 minutes or so, before the footage reverts to its normal size.

Two pre-emptions for tonight's episode for local specials.
WPRI in Providence (CBS) is replacing Wheel with a special celebrating the 10th anniversary of their local program The Rhode Show. As usual, being a station that actually respects Wheel's viewership to some degree, Wheel will air on its MyTV .2 subchannel at its regular time. Jeopardy! is unaffected, because of course it is.
KOMU in Columbia, Missouri (NBC) is choosing to replace Wheel with the first of multiple airings of a local severe weather special. Wheel will not be airing at all, even though this special is also airing over the weekend and they have a CW subchannel (which airs Family Guy reruns opposite Wheel), so there really is no excuse for them to completely drop Wheel. Jeopardy! is unaffected, because of course it is. I complained to them and received this response which completely disregards the issue of them sabotaging Wheel. Say the special is "essential" all you want, but adding that it will also air over the weekend and that Thursday's Wheel is being completely skipped over when it doesn't have to be is not helping your case at all.

Send a followup complaint pointing out that pre-empting Wheel in favor of a special that'll be aired multiple times over the following weekend doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

Translation: "We're not airing tonight's Wheel of Fortune and that's final." Tonight's show must really suck in KOMU's opinion.

Translation: "We're not airing tonight's Wheel of Fortune and that's final." Tonight's show must really suck in KOMU's opinion. Nah, they just don't care. Look out how many stations refused to air last Thursday's episode (whether for March Madness or for local reasons) despite it being the only Bonus Round win of the week. I sent another complaint under a different Email and used a different name and writing style. The same person (station manager) replied with the exact same response, and after I replied to that? Yep... "Thank you for sharing your opinion and concerns." again. There are also complaints on their social media pages and of course those weren't acknowledged. At least KYTV Springfield, which also pre-empted Wheel last Thursday for a weather special, cared enough to move the episode to Saturday afternoon (but still really shouldn't have pre-empted Wheel in the first place especially since that episode had a home viewer sweepstakes attached to it).

We're coming to the end of March Madness. First-run pre-emptions are over for the East. Tomorrow's rerun (04/03/18; College Week Spring Break, Day 2; Ciara/Caitlyn/Elliot) will be affected in all time zones by the semifinals; CBS has coverage all day from 12-11PM ET. Check local listings for alternate Wheel scheduling, if any. This Monday is the finals which runs from 8:30-11:30PM ET, which affects Wheel on most CBS affiliates in the Mountain and Pacific Time Zones. The only ones that are not affected this time are KKTV Colorado Springs and KGWN Cheyenne which both air Wheel at 6:00PM MT and not the more common 6:30, meaning that those stations begin coverage immediately after Wheel and pre-empt Jeopardy! instead. The three stations in the Pacific Time Zone are simply airing Wheel in late primetime, while most of the Mountain Time Zone isn't bothering. MARKET | STATION | WHEEL TIME | Colorado Springs, CO | KKTV | Not affected | Cheyenne, WY | KGWN | Not affected | Albuquerque, NM | KRQE | 12:37AM MT | El Paso, TX | KDBC | None | Boise, ID | KBOI | None | Twin Falls, ID | KMVT | None | Missoula, MT | KPAX | None | Billings, MT | KTVQ | None | Butte, MT | KXLF | None | Great Falls, MT | KRTV | None | Helena, MT | KXLH | None | Las Vegas, NV | KLAS | 10:30PM PT | Bakersfield, CA | KBAK | 10:30PM PT | Eugene, OR | KVAL | 10:30PM PT |

Tonight's episode is being pre-empted entirely on WDRW in Augusta, Georgia (CBS) by a special on the Masters Tournament, which is traditionally held in that city and starts tomorrow. Wheel will not be airing at all. Jeopardy! is unaffected, because of course it is.
WRDW is one of those "If Jeopardy! is pre-empted, we move it; if Wheel is pre-empted, we do nothing" stations. They co-own the market's NBC affiliate WAGT, and J! always moves there if pre-empted (replacing a rerun of The Big Bang Theory), but Wheel never airs at all. This was also the case during March Madness.
I complained to them about their disregard for Wheel and this was their response:
It's odd how they imply that moving either show to a subchannel or sister station can only be done with advance permission, yet other markets like Providence and Atlanta always do so with no issues.
While it's nice to see a station finally give the "champion continuity" excuse for J!'s favoritism instead of "it has more viewers", it still shouldn't mean that Wheel can't air overnight or have the episode delayed to a weekend time slot, and of course since this special is only half an hour, they choose to save J!.
Or, duh! Why not keep Wheel where it is at 7:00, air the Masters special at 7:30, and then air J! on NBC so that everybody's happy? But nope, sabotaging Wheel for no reason yet again...

Orlando viewers will have to wait a day to catch tonight's show.
ABC affiliate WFTV is pre-empting Wheel's time slot with a local special titled Focus on Fostering. Jeopardy! is unaffected, because of course it is.
Since no Wheel is airing tonight, there will be two airings of Wheel tomorrow. Friday's first-run episode will air on Saturday at 5:00PM ET, and will be paired with Jeopardy!'s Saturday rerun at 5:30, which is moved up from its usual 7:00 slot. Wheel's Saturday rerun will also be seen later that evening at the usual 7:30, with J!'s now-vacant 7:00 slot replaced with an infomercial.

According to acwof , the first half of tonight's episode accidentally aired at 9:30AM ET this morning in the Atlanta market. It happened on WATL (MyTV), which is not Wheel's main station in that area; they only air Wheel on Saturdays and whenever it gets pre-empted on the main station WXIA (NBC). WATL accidentally began airing what was likely tonight's episode of Wheel (contestants were Kiera/Brian/Halleh; theme was Wheel Around the World) instead of a rerun of the 10/07/18 episode of Millionaire. The mistake was realized by the end of Round 2; as soon as that puzzle was solved, the show abruptly cut to a brief commercial break, then the Millionaire rerun returned at the start of a new segment. There are no scheduled pre-emptions for Atlanta any time soon, so this was definitely unintentional.

A good chunk of daytime programming was pre-empted today due to the Notre Dame fire.
Wheel's evening time slots are not affected nationally, as none of the national evening news programs have been extended (they may be avoiding that now; it has not happened since the Las Vegas shooting in October 2017). However, some stations, especially those that air Jeopardy! in the afternoon and pre-empted it with coverage, may choose to replace Wheel on the fly with a make-up airing of it or another show that was pre-empted in the afternoon.

Heads up for tomorrow, 4/19... All ABC stations in the Mountain and Pacific Time Zones will be affected by the BOS @ IND NBA Playoffs game, which is scheduled from 8:00-11:30PM ET. Thankfully, all of them are airing Wheel in a primetime slot after the game. MARKET | STATION | WHEEL TIME | Rapid City, SD | KOTA | 9:00PM MT | Tucson, AZ | KGUN | 9:30PM MT | San Francisco, CA | KGO | 9:00PM PT | Eureka, CA | KAEF | 9:00PM PT | Portland, OR | KATU | 9:00PM PT | Seattle, WA | KOMO | 9:00PM PT | Los Angeles, CA | KABC | 9:30PM PT | Sacramento, CA | KXTV | 9:30PM PT | Fresno, CA | KFSN | 9:30PM PT | Reno, NV | KOLO | 9:30PM PT* | Medford, OR | KDRV | 9:30PM PT | Bend, OR | KOHD | 9:30PM PT | Anchorage, AK | KYUR | 8:30PM AT | Fairbanks, AK | KATN | 8:30PM AT | Juneau, AK | KJUD | 8:30PM AT |
*Listings for KOLO Reno erroneously have Friday's airing listed as a repeat airing of Thursday's episode KGUN Tucson initially had Wheel slotted early at 3:00PM MT before changing it to 9:30.
Although it's located in the Central Time Zone, ABC affiliate KLTV in Tyler, Texas might also be pre-empting Wheel tomorrow. Listings show that their 6:00 newscast will be extended to an hour right before the game and Wheel is not listed at all. However, their website says that the newscast is the usual half hour with Wheel unaffected at 6:30. I sent them a Facebook message asking which scheduling is correct and they never responded.
This isn't the only pre-emption for ABC coming up. Stay tuned next week...

Another severe weather special pre-empting Wheel tonight. This time, it's WILX (NBC) in Lansing, Michigan. Unlike the other ones, this one is an hour long and also affects Jeopardy!
Both shows will air on its Antenna TV .3 subchannel in place of Archie Bunker's Place.

ABC affiliate WVEC in Hampton, Virginia pre-empted Wheel tonight with severe weather coverage.
Tonight's episode of Wheel will air tomorrow afternoon at 1:00PM ET. WVEC also announced that if Jeopardy! were to get pre-empted (which it likely did), tonight's episode would follow Wheel tomorrow at 1:30. These time slots were originally occupied by a rerun of Wipeout, and are still listed as such.
Note that this move does not affect either show's Saturday reruns since WVEC does not have them scheduled at all this weekend. Most ABC affiliates as well as Toronto's Yes TV affiliate CITS are doing away with them to make room for the traditional Easter Weekend airing of The Ten Commandments, which starts at 7:00PM ET (although some stations opt to start it at 8:00).
