He's currently riding a seven-game winning streak on Jeopardy!, and in his fourth victory he set a new one day record of $110,914, breaking the previous record set by Roger Craig back in 2010 ($77,000). Tonight, not only he won his seventh game, he also set the second-highest winnings record of $89.158. In addition, is $25,000 wager on a daily double is the largest ever, also surpassing Craig's 18,000 DD bet during the 2011 ToC.
James Holzhauer is the most interesting Jeopardy! contestant I've ever seen, not just because of his historic feats (winning up to $400,000 in just seven games) but he even had DD/FJ wagers that were reminiscent of Watson during the IBM Challenge in S27.
Could he surpass Brad Rutter as Jeopardy's biggest money winner? Could he even continue winning through the end of Season 35 and into Season 36 and maybe even surpass Jennings in terms of numbers of games won?
If his streak continues past the ToC next season but ends in late November or early December, perhaps they'd do another Ultimate ToC to pit former champions against him (but perhaps make it much shorter than the one that was held in S21); the two-day final affair could very well be James Holzhauer vs. Ken Jennings vs. Brad Rutter. Who knows.

Well...damn. I guess for a professional gambler, his high scores shouldn't be too surprising. Probably the most unusual wagering for anyone who's not Watson - I've seen unusual wagers before, but not like this.
Just hope that a True Daily Double doesn't backfire on him.

He won $200K in the space of Tuesday and Friday's games alone. Not too many TofC or reunion of past players' weeks can boast J! giving away more than WOF in a week.

It's really cool that his wagers are based on birthdates of his family & friends and anniversaries

I already don't like how most J! champs win more in one game than a Wheel champ wins without a Bonus Round win ($20-25K vs. $10-20K on average), and now this guy managed to win in one game more than every winner of Season 36 of Wheel to date except for one.
I hope this guy gets defeated sooner than later. Not because I have anything against him personally, but the sooner he's done, the sooner J! stops overshadowing Wheel. This buzz about this guy's streak and record-breaking games combined with what may be Alex's final months as host (though I hope not) have pretty much solidified a #1 slot in the ratings for J! for the rest of the season.
And Harry still won't bring back champions or tournaments of any kind to Wheel despite all the benefits of it staring him right in the face (better ratings, more social media buzz, etc.).

Just in - James surpassed Dave Madden as the show's second-highest money earner after Ken Jennings.

Well, a true Daily Double did backfire on him...in the J! round. But he made a fast comeback.

Now he's at $560K+ and set a new second-highest one day winnings of $106k, just 4k below the record he set last week. I have a feeling if his streak continues, he'll reach the 1 million mark faster than Ken Jennings did; and he could very well overtake Jennings as the biggest regular-season money-winner on Jeopardy! if his streak continues into next season, and especially if he passes the 3 million dollar mark.

Without counting tournaments, Jeopardy! has now had more six-figure, one-game wins this season than Wheel... Jeopardy! fans no longer have any right to complain that Wheel gives away more money.

I guess this is revenge for all of those high-maingame winners Wheel had over the years (Matt Desanto, Shari Blank, Chad Ruter, Maggie & Louise, David Amirian, Nora Keenan, Lauren Kaufman, Becca Rhine, etc.), no?

Well, that didn't last long...
...
...
...
...the 1-day record is now $131,127. He set a new record FJ! wager too.

^ I disagree honestly.
Yes, I do like Wheel of Fortune more personally, but James’s run is simply incredible. He breaks new ground that no one has even dared to attempt.
I really wish I was watching this. Maybe if I didn’t have all that work that was assigned at school.....

James is the first player to set a new one-day record and then break his own record. And this is also the first time since Season 19 that the one day record was broken twice in one season.
I imagine he may surpass Brad Rutter as Jeopardy's biggest money winner if his streak goes 60 games.

Really, I see two ways this ends up:
1. The Daily Doubles/Final Jeopardy spike up in difficulty just to dampen James's strategy, which ultimately will be his downfall in a couple weeks, but would still allow him to have a long run on the show. He still beats Adam Rose's winnings on TPiR and gets on the top 10 list of American game show winners before his reign ends.
2. His run continues until next season, and even if he misses one Jeopardy! record, he absolutely will be the third Jeopardy! great with Ken and Brad.
When he gets to the ToC, I really hope that he wins more than the usual $250k.
