Here's that interview I was mentioning; it aired on CBS Sunday Morning before the last week of the Teachers Tournament. Around the 7:52 mark in the video is where he mentions some of the games featuring Holzhauer were taped before his cancer diagnosis and some taped afterwards. www.youtube.com/watch?v=_FFXdn1kQro

Honestly, I’m trying to stay away from the latter show right now because it ain’t worth it seeing loss after loss in the bonus round. There were five weeks in which the bonus round wasn't won, and this was the longest bonus round drought in Wheel's history. The streak finally ended on May 27, but there was another loss on May 28. Yeah, I agree that Jeopardy is worth watching more right now than Wheel, simply because I'm impressed at how James plays the game, as well as the latter having a long dry spell without bonus round victories.

Anyways, James is now at just over $3.3M and 30 wins. If his streak continues at least a week or two more, he will have surpassed Ken Jennings as the all-time money winner in regular play.

He's less than $200K from Ken's regular game total at this point, probably Monday he breaks that assuming he wins his average amount per show.

James H. is below Thom McKee(43) and Kit Salisbury(38) on Tic Tac Dough for number of games won on a game show. I think those are the only two players outside of Ken Jennings to win more games on a game show than James H. Not sure of the number of games Wilbur Hicks in 1982 won on Tic(his total is $159,600 on Tic). Alex invoked THom McKee's name during Ken's original run

I also saw a video where Ken Jennings, Pam Mueller, and Alex Jacob were discussing about James, and Pam believes that James may have a harder time in tournament play because he'll be playing against already-experienced players. But I can imagine James winning the next ToC, or a special tournament where he's automatically in the finals and faces two other Jeopardy! greats.

Update - James won his 31st game and now his winnings total $2,382,583. So I suspect he'll surpass Ken next week.

$2.4 million now, and on Monday if he wins at least $60,000 he surpasses Ken Jennings as the biggest regular-game money winner on Jeopardy! So things should get interesting.

$2,462,216 is his current total, Jennings won $2,522,700 counting his consolation money for finishing second on 11/30/2004. Holzhauer needs to win $59,485 or more to guarantee he'll be the biggest regular game winner on Jeopardy!

Holzhauer needs to win $59,485 or more to guarantee he'll be the biggest regular game winner on Jeopardy! Let's say he wins 79,000 like he did on yesterday's episode, his total would be $2,541,216 eclipsing Ken's record by almost $20,000.

THIS IS TRUE!!!! JAMES HOLZHAUER WOULD FINALLY BE DEFEATED ON THE 6/3/19 EPISODE. Well, he's going away happy with $2.46 Million Dollars. He comes back for next year's TOC. The episode was taped on March 12th. www.youtube.com/watch?v=TfNFeALV0kY

A Facebook search says this seems to be real. Well fucking done Emma my dear. One day after the 15th anniversary of Ken Jennings' first aired episode, no less

The episode was taped on March 12th. www.youtube.com/watch?v=TfNFeALV0kYIf there are no other 5+ day champions for the rest of this season, and continuing into next season, I would bet they would do a special tournament in which James is automatically in the finals, and they also bring back other Jeopardy! greats (e.g. Roger Craig, Buzzy Cohen, Julia Collins, Austin Rogers). And the ToC could air in the spring of 2020.
The event could be called the Jeopardy! Holzhauer Challenge or the 2nd Ultimate ToC (but nowhere near as long as that one held in Season 21), and last from November 4-22, 2019. An idea I have in mind is there are four rounds - the first one being seven matches, quarterfinals being four, two semifinal matches, and a two-day final affair. There would only be wild-card spots for non-winners in the first round because Ken Jennings and Brad Rutter would receive byes to the semifinals. The winner of the tournament receives $1M, 2nd place receives $200K, and 3rd place $100K.
It would be ratings galore if the final match came down to Ken vs. Brad vs. James. And if James' strategy were to throw off the other two contestants, then it would be the first defeat by a human opponent for Brad.

Is it likely that on the June 4 episode Alex will bring James onto the set at the beginning to recognize him for his accomplishments?
