Well that's certainly great news, hopefully there are no issues and everything goes off without a hitch.
So will the Wheel and Jeopardy seasons still be premiering September 14, or should we expect a little later? And what happens to tapings if a contestant tests positive?

There will not only be no audience, but contestants will not be allowed to bring guests.

So, in the Bonus Round, they will go straight to spinning the Bonus Wheel?

I'm more confused on how cardboard would work, since I'd think they want to minimize contact. I know they can't just remove the Million Dollar Wedge, so playing with no cardboard isn't an option. Digital "cardboard" would be on the extreme end, but am I overthinking this?

This is great news for everyone. To answer your question jjc927, from the article I read and that MarioGS linked to, they probably won't make their traditional September 14 deadline. Wheel could start as soon as October 19 and Jeopardy could start as soon as a week after on October 26. But don't forget, there is a week of all-new Wheel episodes next week I hear that have yet to be seen. So you should probably plan on no later than mid-to-late October which is not bad. As soon as we get word on premiere dates, then it will be posted here ASAP.
Meanwhile, to everyone who requested classic Wheel episodes during the COVID-19 pandemic because Jeopardy was doing it, I feel your pain, but some of you were right. Jeopardy does have slightly higher ratings than Wheel sometimes. You can always go to The Video Vault section of this website and watch some classic episodes of Wheel.
At last, the crisis for Wheel and Jeopardy is over!!! Can't wait to see new episodes this fall!!!
(Also, if you all haven't heard yet, Family Feud will resume taping next month (August) in Atlanta. I don't know if they'll debut around the same time that Wheel and Jeopardy will though).

And yes, new episodes are airing next week-- the UK getaway episodes that were held off because of a trip giveaway. There will also be a new week of shows August 31-September 4 (Carnival cruise week), and two new America's Game episodes the following week.

What a surprise. This story from everyone's favorite Wheel affiliate, WBZ Boston, puts nearly all of the focus on the game show that isn't Wheel, and many of the other media outlets reporting this story are doing so as well.

I would think starting taping In early August would still allow it to be ready to air by a normal time in September. Although they normally begin taping in July...I remember for Season 15 in 1997 they taped the first week on August 1st which premiered September 1st since Vanna's daughter was born on July 1st!
Also some taping days over the years have had very short turnarounds being taped only a couple weeks before airing. It’s doable.

Could just have whoever lands on it pick it up and keep it. If they hit Bankrupt, put it down on the floor until the round/game is over then pick it up (to avoid having to hand it person to person). But shouldn't be an issue anyway, as that hasn't been found to be a transmission issue like person to person.

Add to that a new producer who has done even faster turn around on his previous show (one was just a day or two) and it's even more likely to be able to be done.

For the wheel wedges that get picked up after being landed on and guess a correct letter, perhaps they could make at least those spaces on the wheel digital so that the contestant is no longer picking up the wedge and no more passing it down when lost to Bankrupt. Rather than having the physical wedge underneath the score monitor there would be an image of the wedge on the monitor with their current total. This would eliminate the touching and add modernization to the wheel. For the Mystery wedge it would be revealed on the space rather than the contestant flipping it over. If they made the whole wheel digital then they could switch up the wedges each round like they did many years ago.

So Season 38 is still happening, but no audience or bonus round guests unless it’s through Zoom? Makes me not wanna watch Wheel of Fortune now honestly.

They’re talking about the Vintage episodes of Jeopardy, which are something quite rare. Keep in mind that they’re totally not biased and it’s just a business decision. J! nets more viewers and more money (they also get better priority cause of returning champs & tourneys) while WHEEL has become, well, a drag. ...maybe I’m now thinking that J! is the preferred show for me.

Since the wheel was redesigned to accommodate social distancing measures, I wonder if this means there will be an entirely new set or if this is just a minor modification to the current set. We’re long overdue for a complete overhaul of the set, as the last time it happened was the neonification in 2003.

I have it on good authority that Wheel taped yesterday (8/6) and is also taping today (8/7).

I’m not sure, but I don’t think there might be a set overhaul, although we definitely need one.

We’re long overdue for a complete overhaul of the set, as the last time it happened was the neonification in 2003. The only things from 2003 that have remained the same through Season 37 are the Wheel's base and the puzzle board border. Everything else has been upgraded since then.
