Right before the R1 solve on tonight's episode, WHIO abruptly cut to commercial. Not sure if it is just this affiliate or nationwide. Sounds like WHIO just timed the first ad breaks incorrectly. It was fine on KHOU and WPVI. |

A couple of recent local debate pre-emptions:
Friday 10/14 (#S-7645) was pre-empted on WSAV in Savannah and WRBL in Columbus by the Georgia Senate Debate. Several other Nexstar stations in or around Georgia also aired the debate, but those were the only two that air Wheel.
Last Tuesday (#S-7652) was pre-empted on WNEM Bay City by the Michigan Gubernatorial Debate. It aired on WNEM-DT2 TV5+ at the normal time.

Because the Phillies are in the World Series, WPVI is pre-empting #S-7654 for a hype special. It will air at 2:37 AM ET, replacing the first half of the Tamron Hall encore, but since this was scheduled at the last minute, some TV listings may still list Wheel at 7:30 and a full hour of Tamron at 2:37.

Game 3 of the World Series has been postponed. The game schedule basically slides back a day, but still with no game on Thursday.
FOX signed on at 7:00 ET to announce this, then signed off around 7:08 with affiliates showing normal programming.
Since WSYT Syracuse already aired Wheel at 6:00 ET, they showed a partial episode of Judge Judy in the 7:00 slot instead. WVUE New Orleans and WDAF Kansas City both aired Wheel in its entirety at 6:30 CT. WBFF Baltimore opted to run J! in its entirety after FOX signed off, resulting in Wheel getting JIP’d around 7:38, probably during R2.

Most local debate pre-emptions this election season have been on Nexstar-owned stations.

Wed 10/5 (#S-7638): KATV Little Rock, AR (ABC) and WWNY Watertown, NY (CBS). The latter, for the first time on a pre-emption, moved Wheel to sister station WNYF (FOX).
Thu 10/20 (#S-7649): KATV Little Rock, AR. In both cases, Wheel aired at 12:06 AM Central.

^ The next expected one is Saturday, November 5 (#S-7451RR, a “three-peat”), when NBC has a third and final Notre Dame college football game starting at 7:30 PM ET. This goes along with the usual Saturday college football pre-emptions on ABC and most East Coast CBS's. FOX has World Series Game 6 tonight. Only some 7:00 PM ET NBC airings will be unaffected tonight, along with West Coast CBS airings. NBC was originally slated to air a pregame show at 7:00 ET, but that was dropped. KNSD San Diego, in the "Great American City" saluted in today's airing, has Wheel scheduled for 3:00 PM PT Saturday afternoon, but it may be affected if coverage of the Breeders' Cup runs over. If Houston wins tonight's game, the series is over. If not, Game 7 will be played, but it would not affect Wheel except on KVHP in Lake Charles, LA, as it will be played on Sunday. WABC aired WOF Weekend Sunday at 4:30 AM ET last weekend with no overnight movie preceding it; it moved back to 5:00 AM Saturday morning today. This is the third airing of #S-7451, but only one of the three airings will have been intact in some cases. The original airing on October 18, 2021 was pre-empted on WIVB Buffalo and WROC Rochester by a Buffalo Bills MNF pregame special; both of these are 7:00 ET CBS airings so WIVB will not air tonight's airing in its entirety if at all, and WROC follows college football with news and bumps WOF Weekend overnight during the entire season (but does air it in its entirety; I believe J! always gets JIP'd or skipped following the "7:00" news). It was also partially pre-empted on WOLO in Columbia, SC due to technical difficulties (the show did not start until R2); this rerun will air at 1:00 PM ET Sunday. This was also the first of multiple episodes that was unable to air on most Sinclair stations due to the ransomware attack. The episode's first rerun on July 4, 2022 was interrupted on all 7:30 ET airings and was pre-empted entirely on WLS Chicago due to the Highland Park Fourth of July parade shooting, as well as partially on KPAX in Missoula, MT due to the station temporarily losing power. |

In the Pacific Time Zone, affiliates are allowed to pre-empt election coverage before 8:00 PM with local news and syndicated programming. The following affiliates have Wheel scheduled at the normal time tonight, including all three Pacific CBS's that carry the show:

Tonight is what I consider the most dreaded and most mundane annual pre-emption: the CMA Awards Red Carpet recap, affecting all ABC O&O's and 7:30 ET/PT airings on Nexstar-owned ABC affiliates.
WABC will air #S-7663 at 2:05 AM ET, WPVI at 2:36, KGO at 3:00 AM PT, KFSN at 1:06, and KABC will air it on Thursday at 7:30 PM ET, apparently skipping over #S-7664 and returning the regular airing order on Friday.
WTNH, despite normally moving Wheel to WCTX, confirmed to me that #S-7663 will not air at all in that market.
The West O&O's and WKRN will have pre-empted Wheel two days in a row.

#S-7663 was also pre-empted on WILX in Lansing, MI by a weather special. Due to Hurricane Nicole, it was also pre-empted on at least WPBF West Palm Beach.

This scheduling ended up being correct. 7663 aired on KABC on Thursday, and 7665 is airing right now. Given neither episode had anything notable, nor any players from LA at all (not even any West Coasters on 7663!), it's very odd that they prioritized one over the other and completely skipped one, when they're normally very good about making up episodes by delaying the entire remainder of the week or bumping the pre-empted episode to the weekend; all sources still show #S-7593RR on Saturday at 9:00 (but at least that's a notable episode). |
