Monday's going to be ugly. Yet another episode this season that won't be seen in more than half the country. We already knew from September that #S-7906 would be pre-empted on ABC (except most 7:00 ET airings) by the final MNF game of the season. Last Saturday, the NFL decided to postpone the Bills' Sunday playoff game to Monday due to bad weather in Buffalo. CBS will be covering this game today from 3:30-8:00 ET, impacting at least East Coast airings of Wheel, with less than a business day's notice for the affiliates to reschedule the show, so most CBS's likely won't have Wheel listed in guides even if they do move it. And of course, if this game runs over, that will impact most Mountain Time Zone airings as well. FOX also has a lot of sports today, with college basketball and PBA Bowling from 11:30 AM-7:00 PM ET, followed by the Emmys live at 8:00. The 7-8 hour is open to the affiliates, but Wheel would be in trouble for some (WSYT, WXIX, possibly WDAF and WBFF if they prioritize a full newscast/J! which they have before) if PBA Bowling runs over. The Emmys will be live in all time zones, which pre-empts Wheel on KDVR (moving it to KWGN) and it will also impact Wheel on KHON if it runs over and causes the 6:00 news to start late. Thankfully, there is no red carpet preshow or anything like that at 7:30 ET. NBC is the only network that will air #S-7906 in all time zones. ya As cool as Bowling is, it is definitely not the juggernaut that American football is (I have never seen a subway commercial with bowling champions though it could be funny). I cannot believe we are up to the point that we have to worry about bowling delaying wheel of fortune. ^ It will most likely air in the slot listed as ABC World News Tonight, as the rest of them have. WABC has been terrible this season about updating their listings. They're never pushed to guides until the week of. This is most obvious with the weekend reruns, where they're always initially listed by default for Sunday at 5:00 AM during football season or Saturday at 7:30 PM otherwise. If Wheel does not ultimately air in either of those two slots for that weekend, it doesn't change in the listings until around the Wednesday prior. Case in point, last week the January 20 rerun was listed at 7:30, now it's not listed at all because ABC added an NFL game that day, but it will probably pop up in the listings later this week in whatever other slot it gets. in terms of other late night replacement I saw. I am not sure how your station does it and maybe your station and provider is more 'on it'. I know I also have a station that plays football and is also preempting this show. I know I always record a 'earlier' set show (that will not change name in the preempt) and then put it to way later so that it will get the recording of the show in this case wheel of fortune. usually it works I had some trouble I had to we do it during the Christmas season these last few weeks but it seems to be set now. I learn the hard way when I was trying to Press your luck but got the queen passing away tribute I was still hoping to get the Queen's passing away speech the next day and the recording disappeared into thin air, most likely because the Press your luck game never happened so the TV station deleted the file. I have never tested this with wheel of fortune but Since the show is not available on streaming (at least current season episodes) I tried to keep it safe. since the last thing you want is your according to disappearance of thin air because of TV providers accuracy errors.

^ Yes, that's what I have to do. I have to record the ABC World News Tonight listing and then add an extra 30 minutes, and it's frustrating because there have been times where the 30 minute extension proved unncessary and a waste of DVR cloud space, and other times where it wasn't enough.
Wheel has suffered so much this season from all these new sports deals, both local and national. Wheel can't keep being distributed with these "can only air once a day right before primetime" rules. At least for those missing Jeopardy!, chances are they'll be able to catch the episode again six weeks later on Daytime Jeopardy! (which more stations carry than not nowadays).

#S-7906 was also pre-empted on WHO Des Moines (NBC) by coverage of the Iowa Caucuses, and on WDAF Kansas City (FOX), regardless of PBA Bowling, by a Nexstar-produced special on Martin Luther King Jr.'s granddaughter. Most Nexstar stations aired this special over the weekend.
PBA Bowling ran over by a few minutes. Wheel definitely aired in its entirety on WBFF, which was Andrew's affiliate. He was the only one who was not affected by anything. CBS's game ended on time and Wheel aired on all Mountain and Pacific CBS's (J! was pre-empted on the Montana stations for newscasts).
KTLV in Tyler, TX (ABC) is intentionally re-airing #S-7906 on Tuesday because Kyla's mother lives in that area. Kyla's own affiliate is KHOU which aired the episode overnight. It appears they are skipping over #S-7907 as they do not have any other airings of Wheel listed outside the normal time slot for the rest of this week, and none at all for the weekend.
#S-7907 is pre-empted on WPRI Providence by the Rhode Island State of the State address, and on WKRN Nashville by the Nexstar MLK special.

Adding to WABC's incompetence this season, today's rerun of #S-7634 was not listed until Tuesday, where it was listed Saturday morning at 5:00 AM due to NFL. I played it back on my DVR just now... and it was the Saturday rerun of Jeopardy! instead, which was supposed to air at 4:30 AM, and there was no sporting event on Friday night that would have caused them to slide. Wheel actually aired at 5:30 AM and was listed as Sports Stars of Tomorrow both on Xfinity and WABC's website. Today's airing is pre-empted on all East Coast ABC's (but not West Coast, a rarity) and FOX also has pregame starting at 7:30 ET. Times for FOX this weekend (and presumably most others with this scheduling) are as follows: WDAF: Sat 3:30 PM CT WVUE: Sat 6:00 PM CT (J! moves up to 5:30) WALA: Sat 6:00 PM CT (J! moves up to 5:30) KDVR: Sun 3:30 AM MT WXIX: Sun 12:00 PM ET WSYT / WBFF: WOF Weekend airs on sister station, not affected KVHP: Not affected, WOF Weekend airs Sundays after FOX primetime KHON: Not moved, will be JIP'd if NFL runs over WLUK: None

Yet another sports deal that means trouble for Wheel. www.wlox.com/2023/12/31/wlox-gray-tv-stations-reach-agreement-televise-10-pelicans-games/Gray Television has partnered with the New Orleans Pelicans to air all of their games on several of their stations in and around Louisiana. The following stations that air Wheel are potentially affected by this: - WVUE New Orleans, LA (FOX)
- KNOE Monroe, LA (CBS)
- KALB Alexandria, LA (NBC)
- WDAM Hattiesburg, MS (NBC)
- WTOK Meridian, MS (ABC)
- WALA Mobile, AL (FOX)
Assuming the game times listed in WLOX's article are in Central Time, the following games will conflict with Wheel: - Fri, January 19 (#S-7910) [if there's pregame]
- Tue, February 27 (#S-7937)
- Fri, March 1 (#S-7940) [if there's pregame]
- Tue, March 26 (#S-7957) [if there's pregame]
All 7:00 Pelicans games will impact Wheel on WVUE New Orleans, as that station will air pregame on those days. The affected FOX network shows (WWE SmackDown in last night's case) will air after the 10:00 news, followed by Wheel. The only other station that is airing the games on the same station as Wheel is WALA Mobile, and they did not do pregame last night, although it's worth noting that episode had a local contestant (Jill) that they promoted in advance, so we can't assume they won't do pregame in March if there are no Mobile-based contestants. The rest of the stations did not have the Pelicans game listed at all.

CBS has the Farmers Insurance Open on Friday 1/26 and Saturday 1/27 until 8:00 ET.
Also on Saturday 1/27, ABC has an NBA tripleheader, and FOX has four consecutive games of college basketball until 10:00 ET. Only NBC will be unaffected on the East Coast on 1/27.
And more pre-emptions will likely happen on WIVB, WROC, WETM, and WDAF because of the Bills and Chiefs.

In another instance of paid programming being prioritized over Wheel of Fortune, WDAF only aired the last five-ish minutes of Wheel on Saturday because it was half an hour after the scheduled end of college basketball on FOX, which overran ~25 minutes and resulted in WDAF airing an infomercial in its entirety and joining Wheel in progress during the Bonus Round. 🤦 More pre-emptions to come on WDAF since the Chiefs are still in. At least the Bills are out. WOF Weekend is back to Saturdays at 7:30 PM on WPXI (swapped from 7:00 on weekdays) as of 1/27 since the Steelers are done. Any pre-emptions during Super Bowl week will impact NFL week.

A couple changes regarding WOF Weekend this season:
Baltimore previously aired the reruns Sundays on CW affiliate WNUV at 7:30 PM. Since the CW network now starts Sunday primetime at 7:00, like the bigger networks, instead of the previous 8:00, WNUV has moved WOF Weekend to Saturdays at 7:30 PM (when possible), making one less market that regularly gets WOF Weekend on Sundays instead of Saturdays, but still the only CW affiliate to air it.
In Dallas, since Jeopardy!'s move up from KTXA to KTVT on weekdays and the retirement of the latter's 6:00 newscast, the Saturday reruns for both aired on KTXA for the entirety of college football season, but this is not a permanent move. Saturday Wheel will air on KTVT when CBS has no sports coverage later than 5:00 PM CT. If they do, KTVT does its 5:00 newscast at 6:00 (always for a full 30 minutes if the sporting event ran past 6:00, which they just started doing this season), then slots an infomercial or random special at 6:30, with both J! and WOF on KTXA.

Another local sports partnership. KTVK Phoenix, one of only two indies to carry Wheel (the other being KJZZ Salt Lake City, which also recently partnered with Utah Jazz) has partnered with the Phoenix Suns to carry all of their non-national games. A few months ago, they posted a detailed article listing all days any Suns broadcasts would conflict with Wheel and other programming. These are all the days Wheel is impacted by Suns and what times the show will air, in most cases one or even two hours early. Arizona is currently on Mountain Time, so 5:00 PM airings are 7:00 PM ET. Airings marked in red are immediately following a game and may be JIP'd or skipped if the game runs long. KTVK ends all of their Suns coverage at the top of an hour, so they are only doing local postgame on days where a game is scheduled to end at X:30. The 8:00 PM airings not marked in red are following postgame and not the game itself. Friday, January 5 (#S-7900) - 6:00 PM Tuesday, January 16 (#S-7907) - 6:00 PM Friday, January 19 (#S-7910) - 5:00 PM Monday, January 22 (#S-7911) - 6:00 PM Friday, January 26 (#S-7915) - 8:00 PMMonday, January 29 (#S-7916) - 8:00 PMFriday, February 2 (#S-7920) - 8:00 PMThursday, February 8 (#S-7924, NFL Tournament) - 6:00 PM Friday, February 23 (#S-7935) - 5:00 PM Thursday, February 29 (#S-7939) - 6:00 PM Saturday, March 2 (Rerun TBA) - 5:30 PM Thursday, March 7 (#S-7944) - 6:00 PM Monday, March 11 (#S-7946) - 7:00 PM (normal time)Thursday, March 14 (#S-7949) - 7:00 PM (normal time)Wednesday, March 20 (#S-7953) - 6:00 PM Thursday, March 21 (#S-7954) - 6:00 PM Saturday, March 23 (Rerun TBA) - 8:00 PM Monday, March 25 (#S-7956) - 8:00 PM Wednesday, March 27 (#S-7958) - 6:00 PM Friday, March 29 (#S-7960) - 6:00 PM Tuesday, April 9 (#S-7967) - 6:00 PM Friday, April 12 (#S-7970) - 6:00 PM www.azfamily.com/2024/01/04/programming-changes-during-phoenix-suns-games-3tv-wheel-fortune-jeopardy-may-change-times/

#S-7915 aired early at 3:30 PM Central today on at least one CBS affiliate leading into PGA.
No contestants are badly affected by the pre-emptions. They are from the San Francisco (KGO, ABC), Dallas (KTVT, CBS, Wheel moves to KTXA), and New York (WABC) markets.

PGA ran over by 14 minutes, meaning half of Wheel is gone in most of the Mountain Time Zone; with more and more stations showing priority to J! over Wheel nowadays, KDBC remains the only Mountain Time Zone CBS affiliate that still airs Wheel at 6:30 MT in its entirety if sports run past 6:00. The Montana stations do newscasts at 6:00 and run them for 30 minutes, pre-empting J! outright.
The East Coast is not affected by the overrun. Since CBS primetime is all repeats tonight, S.W.A.T was joined in progress.

Wheel was moved to 3:30 in the morning on KFSM, however, I didn't think to record the programs leading into it, and as such, my Wheel recording starts in the middle of it (after a contestant picked up the Million Dollar Wedge). And for some reason, I do not see a reairing of yesterday's Jeopardy! episode, either. It's not listed in the 10:30PM timeslot for KFSM unless something has changed recently.
EDIT: Jeopardy is still a 2022(?) episode, and the Wheel broadcast after that is Sweetheart's week from last year. I'll of course be tuning in on the off chance those are the new episodes I missed yesterday.

moline I'm guessing KFSM started Wheel at 3:30 instead of 3:35 or 3:37 or whatever guides had it listed at. CBS stations seem to arbitrarily decide when they change from the X:07/37 scheduling after the late night talk shows to X:00/30. I did notice there was no first-run Friday J! on the schedule at all; maybe they aired it in place of Daytime J! that day. As for the Sweethearts Week repeat... per my friend who also lives in the KFSM area, they announced on the morning news that Wheel would be bumped to the end of the overnight lineup at 3:30 AM again. All the shows originally scheduled after Wheel, starting with SEAL Team, got shifted up. Why do I have a feeling they did this because the red team was a gay couple? They weren't the only ones to suddenly bump the episode, either. WBOY in Clarksville, WV and KFYR in Bismarck, ND also did not air this rerun of Wheel and instead aired infomercials even though Wheel was listed. WETM in Elmira, NY aired a show called "Big Game Tailgate" but Wheel was still listed. Wheel does tend to get randomly bumped on Saturdays for infomercials (even on WABC at least once a year) so that may be a coincidence, and AFAIK, all of these stations and KFSM did air the original airing of that episode. Aside from that, WKTV in Utica, NY also pre-empted Wheel but it was due to a local hockey game so it was far from the only show impacted. Other than that, all other NBC affiliates on the East Coast aired the episode, including WAFF in Huntsville, AL, which cut off the original airing shortly after the red team's interview for storm coverage.

WDJT in Milwaukee announced that their sister station WMLW will be carrying 10 Milwaukee Bucks games the first of which that takes place on Friday 2/23 at 7PM CT being simulcast on WDJT which means if there is any pregame on WDJT Wheel will be affected that day.

CBS has PGA until 7:00 ET or later on the following Saturdays this winter and spring. Even without overrun, this will still pre-empt WOF Weekend outright on a few CBS stations that replace it with delayed 6:00 news or J! when sporting events are scheduled after 6:00.
February 3 (game ended on time) February 17 April 13 May 18 June 1, scheduled until 7:30 ET
Last Saturday was also pre-empted on WABC by one of their "Eat Up, New York!" specials. Starting February 10, WOF Weekend is back to Saturdays at 7:30 on WABC. Prior to this, it had only aired in that slot one time this season.

So much for the lack of returning champions being the sole reason Wheel suffers pre-emptions ten times more often than Jeopardy!...
#S-7924 is pre-empted on KQTV in St. Joseph, MO by a Chiefs special. Wheel will air at 1:06 AM CT, which is an improvement over last year where it did not air at all. Friday Finals are not affected here.
WROC, which cannot seem to go more than two weeks without pre-empting Wheel, is pre-empting the Friday Finals for a Super Bowl special. Unlike most cases, this special is not a simulcast from WIVB, which will still air the Finals featuring local contestant Jill.
Meanwhile, WDAF, KQTV, and WROC have aired both runs of Jeopardy! every day this week with no problem. WROC will often reschedule or shorten WIVB's Buffalo Bills specials when they're an hour so that they don't have to pre-empt J!, but here they are not caring that Wheel should be the one prioritized for once. And two of the three potential finalists are repping the teams that serve these viewing areas! At least KQTV is doing it today and not Wednesday or Friday featuring Deanna, and thank goodness Deanna isn't actually from KC.
You really have to think what Wheel has to do in order to be prioritized over J! Clearly, bringing back tournaments aren't enough, and we know they're not getting a second run anytime soon despite the GSN reruns doing well in ratings.
WWE Week had no planned pre-emptions, though the Friday Finals ended up being pre-empted in some Midwest markets for severe weather.

there was a preempt for special report on the ABC stations. if anyone knows what happens in the host chat I would love to hear because currently recap seem to be delayed this week. (I am sure for good reason) I will say my station did take care or maybe I am just giving them credit for something that was luck and preempt right after the envelope reveal. with the total in which I am not going to say includes or does not include in the subtitles for a special report. I have a feeling most stations were not as lucky as mine.
