I guess we're gonna have to wait until premiere day comes if we want to see what the new set looks like, what with phones not being allowed at tapings, the Non-Discloure Agreements and all that stuff.

At this point, I’m totally ok with waiting until the premiere to see all the changes. I wouldn’t be surprised if they released some photos the week leading up to the premiere, but I’m ok with waiting another month or so. I kind of miss the old days when you would anxiously await the season premiere to see all the changes for the first time, but that doesn’t happen so much with anything in the social media age.

It did strike me as odd at first that they'd get this protective over a set (it's not like average viewers are going to care that much), but maybe they do want to recapture some of that old pre-social media feeling of anticipation among the fans. Still not sure how I feel about them firing someone over it, though.

I can see both sides of the whole secrecy thing. While it seems a bit over the top to fire someone over a leaked 2 second video that really didn't show that much, I can see why they want to go to great lengths to keep this under wraps as long as possible. It's just so, so difficult to do in this age of social media and everyone having a camera in their pocket. I think back to the big puzzle board change in 1997. I don't know if it was in the news at all beforehand, I was only 9 years old at the time. But I remember I had no clue they were getting an entirely new puzzle board until the day before when my dad told me that Pat and Vanna mentioned it at the end of Friday's show. I remember other seasons that had big changes, like season 12 with the new music and puzzle board border, I had no clue until the show aired. I kind of miss having these big changes be surprises that we didn't know about months in advance. So in that sense, I'm kind of glad we haven't seen anything yet. It builds up the anticipation for the new season.

I do like waiting in anticipation for certain things as well, but it's also nice to know a little bit about some things here and there so people can be like, "Whoa, cool! I wanna see that!" That's what happened with me right before Season 25 began when I read about the Big Money Wedge on the show's site and how it was going to work. I was left really wanting to see how it was going to look.
Of course, you don't want to give away too much. When Season 39 began, I was excited to hear that $850 was going to return and that a new contestant backdrop was going to be fitted, but I still feel the new arrangement of the Changing Keys theme should've been kept under wraps. When I read the news, I was a little anxious as to whether or not it was going to use the fondly remembered 1983-1994 melody or the barely recognizable 1994-2000 melody. I was satisfied when I found out they went back to the former the night of the Season 39 premiere, but my goodness, I very likely would've been left overwhelmed with joy had the news magazines kept silent.
So you have to be careful with what to show and tell and what to keep a secret surprise.

We were able to gather most of the S39 changes through contestants or set photos, but we didn’t know about the changing keys revamp until less than a week before when it was announced that Pat & Vanna had renewed their contracts through S41.

From KTEN comes our first glimpse of part of the new set. It’s not much, but it’s something: Edit: Removed the CSS source code that automatically populated despite not showing up in the mobile editor.

It’s not much, but it’s something: Nothing to do with the show (or not much really), but interesting to see that the station with those letters is also actually on Channel 10 as our local one is (WTEN in Albany, NY), and also happens to carry Wheel.

Looks like what used to be the central video wall got a redesign. A ton of blue and what seems to be a new logo. Saw a bit of yellow, so I’m wondering if they did a remake of the classic contestant backdrops.
FYI: I was not at the tapings. I’m not sure if I’m allowed to say any opinions.

Very interesting with the spokes design... Very much highlighting the border spaces between wedges... Makes me wonder if there will be a wheel redesign a season or two from now (or even midseason) that will accentuate the borders, maybe similar to the short-lived early 1976 wheel with the white wedge borders? Pure speculation based on nothing but a wild hair of course.

Another slight spoiler of the new set, this time a shot of the wheel from the players' perspective, from Maggie's TikTok:

Aaand it’s gone. Maggie removed the video from her page. Pretty sure the NDA’s go for EVERYONE involved; not just audience members.

oh wow given the source I'd assumed it was an "official" leak. I guess not. Oops.

There were animated elements of the new "spokes" design on the base similar to the promo linked a couple days ago.

Also, isn't that the show's title card for Season 42 in the promo (i.e. they aren't using the same logo from Seasons 40 and 41)?

As Maggie's the show's social media correspondent, I'm left to wonder if she was supposed to save the video for later only to upload it by mistake (stuff like this happens to even the best of us) or if she was allowed to have it uploaded yet also have it privatized as quickly as possible. It's much more likely, however, that the former occurred.

On the show’s Facebook page there was a reel video of Ryan and Vanna doing a photo shoot. On the reel video cover on the show’s Facebook page it showed what the new puzzle board looks like.

And it looks great! Gave me a warm feeling inside seeing it. It doesn't show the whole board, but from what I could see, the inner border reminds me of the 1975-81 puzzle board too. You can pause the very end of the reel for the best image.

It would also be nostalgic if the puzzle board reverted to the Rockwell Bold Condensed font.
That said, I wonder if there will also be a music change for Season 42 because with the exception of the 2006-16 package, Wheel has updated its theme music every 2 to 6 years (more frequently than sister show Jeopardy!); and this will be Ryan's first season hosting.
