Music will most likely stay the same because it’s still fairly recent.

The first screenshot is the aforementioned press photo, while the second is from an officially-sanctioned source (local news anchor of a Wheel affiliate). Spoilerized below: <br>

Somebody give JP Connelly his flowers right now. 💐
Looks like a semi-revival of the red/yellow/blue backdrops; something I’ve been hoping for! And that puzzle board design is so funky; I freakin’ love it. 🤩

The new set is gonna be permanent, right? I hope it's not exclusively made for the Big Money Weeks (because the setup makes it really look like it).

I doubt they'd make a completely new set just for a special week. They probably redressed the new set for that week.

Music will most likely stay the same because it’s still fairly recent. But overall, music changes happen more frequently on Wheel than on Jeopardy! And I wouldn't see why not have a small update to the 2021 theme. And in addition to tweaking the 2021 theme, why not implement these other music changes: - Slightly updated toss-up cue
- New toss-up solve cue
- Main puzzle solve cue changed to have the same chord progression as 1983-1994 (would be nostalgic now that they went retro with the puzzle board)
- New express cue
- New final spin cue
I'd like to hear the main puzzle solve cue sound like this, albeit a modernized rendition.
Oh, and something else came to mind. They also ought to retire the use of stock music when featuring prizes and have Bleeding Fingers score modern arrangements of the Merv Griffin composed cues that were used back in the day; and I'm talking about bringing back "Nightwalk", "A Time for Tony," "Frisco Disco", and "Buzzword"

I'd also would like to see them bring back the silver parallelogram name tags (or the forest-green rectangular name tags). Now those would be nostalgic.

That would be nice if they redesigned the name tags, whether it'd be an old design such as the parallelograms or something new, perhaps based on the new Puzzle Board design.
New nametags, that is if they occur, may also be based off of the Wheel itself because one thing I am noticing is how the new set pays homage to the show's namesake. As for the spikes coming out, they seem to pay their own homage to the sunburst backdrops from the eighties. In addition, all of this seems to have that feel of the origin of the phrase Wheel of Fortune, Rota Fortunae, as well as that of Journey's song "Wheel in the Sky," which coincidentally came out not long after Wheel of Fortune premiered on NBC.

Very interesting. The area around the wheel looks a little weird, but I'm sure it will make a lot more sense on screen when we're not just looking at still pictures from certain angles. I'm very interested to see how the puzzle board looks on screen. I was really hoping the arches would more resemble what we saw in the 80s and early-mid 90s. It just looks really off having the two sides be so asymmetrical, but again, I'm sure it'll look a lot better on camera when we're looking at the board head on. I love how the center screen opens up let Ryan and Vanna walk through. Overall I think I do like the changes. I was hoping to like it a little more upon first impressions, but I think it'll all look way better on the actual show than in these pictures.

You've pretty much summed up my thoughts on the puzzleboard and the set as a whole. I'm also not sure I like the overlapping ship wheel design behind the contestants as much as the big logo (aka "bloomin' onion") from the last few seasons. Though I do like how the color of the backdrop seems to change to match the contestant playing, which in a way makes it evocative of the tri-colored backdrops from the '80s-90s. And at least it's definitely still preferable over that big video wall we had for much of the 2000s-10s. But like you said, I'll withhold final judgment until we see how it all comes together on the show itself.

I thought the set looked great from the GMA preview clip, can't wait to see it on TV!

The spiky Season 12 Puzzle Board was funky for sure, but my goodness, this new one is certainly funky in its own right! If I were to have any concerns about it, however, it's that the fact that it is asymmetrical may distract players from the puzzle.
As for the Wheel base, it looks so big it makes the Wheel itself seem small. Even so, there was something I saw in one of the photos, the one where the Wheel is at the far left and the scoreboards and screen showing the Wheel's overhead view is near the center right. In that photo, the green $500 next to $550 appears different for some reason. I don't know if there's a prize or some sort of new element on it. All the same, however, it may just be the lighting.

I'll have to reserve judgment until I see it in use on TV as the clips and stills probably don't do it justice. This could either be the most exciting set redesign in decades or the most disappointing in the show's history. If the curved and floor monitors around/below the wheel incorporate design video elements that sync with the wheel's motion during a spin, emulating the kinetic design of previous designs' wheel bases, it would be really impressive if executed properly. The wheel design from the 2024 UK revival struck that classic-modern balance magnificently. Switching to monitors also gives the production designers the creative liberty to adjust the motion design for specific theme weeks (Retro Week, anyone? A man can dream...). On the other hand, if those screens are stuck on the same generic graphic design throughout the game, it would look like just another lame attempt to replace hard sets with monitors - certainly not something worth getting a legal team to write an NDA over.
Wheel sets have historically been very busy from a production design standpoint, whereas this one looks like there is so much unused space. Surely a show raking in millions in revenue annually could tap an art director capable of designing a background more creative than a handful of fabricated wheels and an enormous door. Take away the wheel, and you could film CBS Sunday Morning in this studio. It makes the generic background of the last 14 years seem not so "generic".
Anyway, I'm truly not trying to be a downer. For all I know, I will be eating crow in just over a week. Please prove me wrong, JP.

I hope the show will stop using the 2017-2021 stock music cues (which were used in Season 41) for going into the commercial breaks. Instead, I hope the parts of the main 2021-present theme will be used (like in Season 39 and Season 40).

My opinion on the new set: So far, the new set's looking like it ought to be the basis for a good set, what with how empty it's looking. The modern UK set pulled off the modernization better IMO, though I like the re-addition of the puzzleboard's border and the doors Ryan and Vanna now go through for their entrance. I'd add some elements to make it less generic or barren. Maybe a Wheel of Fortune logo could go behind Ryan like on the old set, assuming it wouldn't clash with the contestants' backdrops. Or some glass wheel portions (like those on the Celebrity Wheel set) could go on the doors' frame. Maybe some giant glass wedges like the generic set in the old Wii game.

Keep in mind, these photos are from the season premiere week which doesn’t have a theme and pretty simple colors all over. The extra space gives them room to still dress up the set for different theme weeks. Also the ability to change the lighting week to week will affect the look greatly. Remember how during the first week of Season 39 everyone was like “they ruined the set, it’s so blue and they got rid of all the nice scenery!” And as the weeks went on it was back to business as usual and in fact they started changing up the lighting of the set and set pieces even more than before. So stay tuned…they’ve got a lot of fresh and cool stuff to work with here!
