I've gotta say it's getting pretty damn old when you search WoF on YouTube and 90% of the results posted in the past two weeks are those who decide to record their XBox and PS3 embarassments.

Daniel B. from Florida – Xbox 360 winner Congratulations. Wii U update: Best Buy originally had the games' release date as November 20, but that has now been changed to December 18, which unfortunately seems legit. Other sites have the typical video game placeholder date of December 31. However, Amazon is now taking pre-orders for the game and claims it will be shipping on the console's launch this Sunday. Hopefully this is true. In fact, several people who pre-ordered the Wii U version of Call of Duty: Black Ops II received it over a week before the console and game were supposed to be released. I pre-ordered my Wheel copy, so I'll be sure to let everyone know if this luckily happens to me. Oh, and it's currently 16% off, so now would be a good time to get it.

Congratulations. Thanks. Fun thing: I very nearly ended up forfeiting, as I forgot I entered the contest and only managed to confirm my mailing address somewhere around 90 minutes to two hours before the time limit expired. As a "bonus" of this, I got to see the original email and the "followup" sent yesterday which basically said "You've only got until tomorrow at 11:59 AM EST to claim your prize!" This morning was hectic; that's all I'll say. Wii U update: Best Buy originally had the games' release date as November 20, but that has now been changed to December 18 Why are they postponing the game to a week before Christmas, but released the PS3/360 versions in October? Besides, isn't the Wii U just a handheld GBA-like console that can also use the TV? I'm pretty sure it's just two Wii consoles duct-taped together...

Wii U update: Best Buy originally had the games' release date as November 20, but that has now been changed to December 18 Why are they postponing the game to a week before Christmas, but released the PS3/360 versions in October? Probably because they rushed those versions and wanted to get them out as soon as they could. It would be nice if the Wii U version fixed some of the issues with the current versions (The Jeopardy! game does use the current season's logo), but I won't hold my breath. Nah, it's more like a "DS-like" console where the top screen is the TV and the second screen is the controller.

It's a reasonable thing to postpone the release of JEOPARDY! & Wheel Of Fortune for the Wii U. I didn't understand why the 1/2 CAR tag was on top of the $450 wedge for the XBOX 360 & Playstation 3. The only thing that kind of makes me think is will the layout be similar to season 30 for the Wii U or not? Not sure about the improvements for JEOPARDY!, though.

Like I said, don't hold your breath. I doubt it'll be that different from the PS3/360 versions when you toss aside the Gamepad functionalities.

And one is now needed for Wheel, too. Let's hope this update changes something significant. Mark or anyone else, be sure to tell us what's new if anything good.

I just got word from the Amazon seller that the Wii U version (despite them claiming to have it in stock) will not be released until 12/18, a week before Christmas.

So, after looking through the game's sound files, there is a LOT of stuff that didn't end up getting used, including some very interesting material from Pat's voiceovers... First off, some categories that he reads off that rarely, newly (for the game's sake), or ever appear the actual show... Phrases Titles TV Titles Movie Titles Events The 70's The 80's The 90's Headline Fictional Family/Families Artist/Song Author/Title Best Seller/Sellers (!!) College Life Husband & Wife Movie Quote Classic Rock (!!) Song Titles TV Show Title Next Line Please Slogan What Are We Making? (!!) What's That Song? Where Are We? Who Is It? Who Are They? Who Said It? Same Letter TV Quote Where Are We Going? (!!) There are also variations of Pat informing players that since all consonants were revealed and nobody solved the puzzle correctly, the puzzle is discarded. ("Sorry. All the consonants are gone and no one solved it. That money will go unclaimed.") Could this be a rule on the actual show, meaning that if this happens, the round gets thrown out? Then, there are files of what sound like Pat calling out dollar values that don't appear on the current Wheel... $100 $200 $250 $275 $475 $1,000 $2,000 $3,000 $4,000 $6,000 $10,000 Plus, we know how Pat makes some sort of comment about the theme or set, well there are these... "Something seems strange. Have we been here before?" "Well, now this brings back some memories." And they are labeled "PAT_BANTER_INTRO_RETRO"! I really hope this supposed retro set/mode won't go to waste! Vanna's sound files indicate a new minigame called "Pick One" where players pick a square on the board to reveal its letter, and a controls explanation involving a "Circle Pad". At first, this seemed like the Wii U build was pretty early, as the Gamepad's original design had these Circle Pads, but were later changed to Analog Sticks, and Vanna has a clip mentioning those as well. Is it possible that they were considering a Nintendo 3DS version? I will not be sharing these files due to our policy. Find them for yourself if you really need to.

Are they doing classic themed sets? Or were they thrown out?

Either...
A) The retro set is exclusive to the Wii U version
B) It is DLC planned for release in the future with Pat's intros already on the disc
C) They were planned but were not made available for play in the final release
Retro sets and even shopping were considered for the Wii version, but the show did not want them in. We'll have to see what happens. Hopefully someone from Pipeworks can talk about it.

Whoa, $475? I'm making my own pilot layouts to include $475! Now if they're going to include retro sets on the Wii U version, for me that's worth wasting my money on a Wii U! Even if they're not doing the retro stuff yet they're revising the game with season 30 rules (with the inclusion of our 70s friend brought back from the dead), I'd still be happy.
Even so, if the sales for TPIR Decades and Family Feud Decades were through the roof (Were they, anyone?), I hope that Sony notices that. That'd be one reason (perhaps the primary) why Sony would say yes to not only retro Wheel, but retro Jeopardy! as well!

I'll be sure to post what's different for Nintendo players as soon as I can. Release dates are still all over the place, ranging between 12/11 and 12/20. Maybe some pictures, too, if necessary. As for video, probably not, since it would probably be offscreen. No way am I using my old SD capture device.

So, after looking through the game's sound files, there is a LOT of stuff that didn't end up getting used, including some very interesting material from Pat's voiceovers... I'm guessing this is the Xbox 360/PS3 version? Next Line Please Slogan What Are We Making? (!!) What's That Song? Where Are We? Who Is It? Who Are They? Who Said It? HA! Bonus categories! There are also variations of Pat informing players that since all consonants were revealed and nobody solved the puzzle correctly, the puzzle is discarded. ("Sorry. All the consonants are gone and no one solved it. That money will go unclaimed.") Could this be a rule on the actual show, meaning that if this happens, the round gets thrown out? I'm pretty sure it is. It was definitely a rule when the show debuted in '75, and it's seen in the Belgian clip that recently got uploaded. Then, there are files of what sound like Pat calling out dollar values that don't appear on the current Wheel... $275 That hasn't been around since 1979! Hello, friend! Plus, we know how Pat makes some sort of comment about the theme or set, well there are these... "Something seems strange. Have we been here before?" "Well, now this brings back some memories." And they are labeled "PAT_BANTER_INTRO_RETRO"! I really hope this supposed retro set/mode won't go to waste! I know of about five or six sets they could do...like the 1987-89 nighttime set, for instance. I will not be sharing these files due to our policy. Find them for yourself if you really need to. I'm sure that The Cutting Room Floor will find these.

I don't understand this rule. Could someone explain? Plus, Mario, how did you manage to access the game files? It can't be as easy as putting the CD into the computer and reading the files.

No, that won't work. It comes from a digital (illegitimate) copy that some experts know how to extract game files from. I'm not one of them, so don't ask. Also, downloading this kind of copy from the internet is illegal.
As for that rule, if everyone gives an incorrect answer with only vowels remaining, the round is discarded. It isn't known if the round is just re-shot with a new puzzle, or if the scenario is aired and the game moves on. Probably the former in today's era.

Plus, Mario, how did you manage to access the game files? It can't be as easy as putting the CD into the computer and reading the files. We're not going to tell you. It's against the law. Ask again and you will be banned. Understand? (Likewise, anyone offering to share procedures or files will also be banned, no questions asked. Consider this your only warning.)
