I forgot to mention that the other day, when I went to play Wheel (PS3), it downloaded and installed an update. I really didn't see anything different except that Pat's opening phrases when Vanna and he walk out were different than I had heard.

Even so, if the sales for TPIR Decades and Family Feud Decades were through the roof (Were they, anyone?), I hope that Sony notices that. That'd be one reason (perhaps the primary) why Sony would say yes to not only retro Wheel, but retro Jeopardy! as well! I'm not sure if a retro Jeopardy! would be a biggie for many fans unless they like older versions of the set better. Questions from older Jeopardy! episodes appear harder because some questions don't age all that well, especially pop culture (loss of relevancy as shows, songs, etc. lose popularity) and geography (changing borders, for example).

NO ONLINE OR MII SUPPORT FOR WII U VERSION!! support.thq.com/entries/22575908-wheel-of-fortune-wii-u-faqThere is absolutely NO EXCUSE for this, THQ/Pipeworks! You're charging $50 for a port that has LESS replayability than other versions that are only $30. Several descriptions on various retailer sites falsely indicate online play as well. Bottom line, at $50, the Wii U version is a scam. I will no longer be in any rush to buy this. They really should have waited a bit to figure out more about the Wii U. Thanks, THQ/Pipeworks...

I wonder if THQ's current cash position (nonexistent) has anything to do with a higher priced version having less features.
Actually, I'd wager good money that's the reason.

Maybe, but it really just seems like they don't care for Nintendo and were just being lazy since they figured the game would sell better on Nintendo regardless of features.
What bothers me the most about this is all the false advertising that said the Wii U versions would have it. It even says "Online Interactions" under the ESRB rating, so if there's no online multiplayer, what "interactions" are there?

What it sounds like to me is that they're probably only going to be able to sell well on the PS3 and XBox. Those that have the game for the Wii aren't going to buy it for the Wii U. It seems kinda pointless for them to have made the original game in the first place. They would've been better off waiting 2 years and then releasing it.

Would updates be considered as online interactions?

No. It means "interacting" with other users online in the game. I agree, George, that they should have waited. This was clearly just a quick Christmas cash-in. They might as well have removed Pat and Vanna or something. But if there ever is another Wii U version, watch it also be a lazy port. I bet this one doesn't even have the S30 layout even though they definitely had enough time to do it. I wonder what the 1-month delay was for, seeing that hardly any effort went into this. Just a few Gamepad features, and watch it just be "stop the moving power meter by swiping the touchscreen."

What I think it really dumb is that they actually haven't a motion activated spin yet. Instead of that stupid freaking power bar that has been used in just about every version of this game. When I first heard about the release for the Wii it was long overdue but I figured that the spin would be activated by you kinda reaching out just like the show and "spinning" the wheel. Not this hold the B button and flick shit.

And it looks like it'll be exactly the same on Wii U, but swiping the screen. At least on the DS version, the spin actually depended on your swipe, even if you had to get it all the way around for it to count.
And according to that FAQ, Wii Remotes will be compatible, and probably required for multiplayer.

Jeopardy! is now listed on the Wii U eShop (the console's built-in store that's only accessible through the console itself). Wheel is not as of this posting, but it will likely be very soon. The release date is listed as 12/27. That's a Thursday, which is the day the eShop makes new software available, so that's probably concerning a downloadable version.
The information DOES indicate online play. There are screenshots that are the same ones from the 360 listings, and there is a trailer that is exactly the same as the original one but with only the Wii U box showing at the end, and that trailer indicated online as well, so if that FAQ isn't a typo, the would-be false advertising has gone way overboard...I highly doubt Jeopardy! would have it and not Wheel.

Does anyone play the PS3 version of Wheel online? If you do, let me know. I'm looking for more competition than just myself and the ignorant AIs. ;D

The Wii U games are now out, though not many places have them. You can check a game's listing on gamestop.com to see if any locations near you have it in stock. The ones near me don't. It's $50, though according to one Miiverse post, Target has it for $40. Both of their Miiverse communities are up. Miiverse is the Wii U's social network that is divided into communities for every game released on the system. Each game has a small, square app-like icon, but both WOF and J have bland, generic "logo vector on black background" icons. Very strangely, WOF's is no recent logo, it's the one from Season 22 (the silver two-row logo with an oddball Wheel featuring old four-digit values forming the "o")! I was really expecting the Season 27, 28, or 29 ones. I have posted several WOF drawings on there, one of which was one of the Wheel landing on $5,000 that got 12 likes from other users. Anyway, not a single person who has posted in either game's community has actually played the game (which would be maked with a special "check" icon on the post), but someone has just posted that he will be getting the games tomorrow and will answer anybody's questions, so anyone who has anything you want me to ask him, go for it. As for online, signs seem to be pointing to "no". The back of the boxes have been posted on GameFly with no mention of it. Again, false advertising, THQ! Even Nintendo's own shop mentions it.

Are Wheel or Jeopardy available for purchase on the WiiU eShop? It sounds like not, but since when I get a WiiU I'll probably get 10% back on the purchase, I'd prefer a download.

Not yet, but it looks like at least Jeopardy! will be on December 27.

OK...I just finished a conversation with someone on Miiverse who has the game. - No online modes at all, but the box still says "Online Interactions Not Rated By The ESRB" on the front. - The Wheel is not updated to use the Season 30 layout. - There are no additional stages. - Swiping the touch screen does not technically spin the Wheel like it does on DS and iOS. It stops the power meter from moving up and down. Lazy, tacked-on touch controls. Another user posted two screenshots on Miiverse. The game is identical to the other versions. In fact, on the main menu in those versions, there is a row of 5 icons in the back with the middle one saying "Leaderboards". It was removed for the Wii U version, complete with a wide gap where it should be. Way to add salt to the wound. I will not be buying this or Jeopardy! until there is a price drop, and it better be soon, because nothing here is worth $50. The only Gamepad features are "swipe to stop the power meter", a letter keyboard, and the option to play the entire game on its screen. I feel that THQ and Pipeworks are disrespecting Nintendo by watering down a $30 game and increasing it's price, and it's for a console that's supposed to be ahead. It's not the Wii. There is going to be a lot of disappointed people who get this and find out there's no online even though the trailers in the eShop say there is. I keep trying to comment to THQ and/or Pipeworks about this and nobody ever replies. How unprofessional.

Doesn't even sound like it's worth $30 by what you described. More like the current Wii version price $19.99. It basically sounds like they just lazily carried over content by copying and pasting. Too bad GameTek perished

An additional 1000 puzzles or another 610 clues are now available for dowload for $5. That's a little steep, IMO.

Oh, well. Hope the next company to do Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! video games does a good job with those.
