It's the end of Wheel Around the World week and our very own Sanam is in the running. Let's see how she does. First, the hosts of the Romanian version show up to wish a happy 30th anniversary. $1,000 Toss-Up: On the Map _ _ _ _ H E _ S T A _ _ A Andre says SOUTHEAST ASIA. Andre Brown, doctorate student at UNC from Durham, NC Sanam Leidelmeijer, account manager from Irvine, CA Nancy Maria Schuesselein, voice teacher at University of Mississippi, from Oxford, MS $2,000 Toss-Up: Thing W _ S H I N G _ _ _ L Sanam's wrong with WISHING BOWL. W _ S H I N G W E _ L Nancy Maria says WISHING WELL. (After solving, she insists that she go by both names.) The Romanian hosts return briefly before the Prize copy. Prize on Wheel: Romania tour courtesy of Turkish Airlines, $8,700 Jackpot Round: Food & Drink Nancy Maria gets the TravelSmith gift tag with T's. She buys E and A, then gets the trip with H. B A _ E D / _ O T A T O _ I T H / S O U R _ R E A _ / & _ H I _ E S She solves BAKED POTATO WITH SOUR CREAM & CHIVES for $4,250 cash, the gift tag, and her trip. PERFECT ROUND! Left behind in Jackpot: $8,000 Nancy Maria: $15,950 (Romania + Gift Tag) Andre: $1,000 Sanam: The hosts of the Spanish version throw us to commercial. ==== Mystery Round: Before & After Andre hits $3,500 right away, but there's no T. Sanam gets the ½ Car tag next to $350 on her first spin, claiming it with N. A few turns and all the vowels later… _ A _ / _ A I R _ A _ O F / R E _ _ O N I N G …she solves BAD HAIR DAY OF RECKONING to get on the board. Dud: T (Andre) Nancy Maria: $15,950 Andre: $1,000 Sanam: $2,500 (½ Car tag) Retro Bonus Round It's from 1999, and On the Map is the category. CMDO gives us… _ O L _ _ _ _ And the male contestant got BOLIVIA. ==== Before PP, the first Ask Pat and Vanna segment airs. The question is if she keeps her clothes. We of course know that the answer is no. Prize Puzzle: Fun & Games Her first spin nabs the ½ Car next to $900 with T. However, she buys the only bad vowel, O. Nancy Maria goes for it, putting up S, U, I, and V, until P stops her. S U R _ I _ _ / T H E _ I _ _ E S T / _ A V E S E V E R Andre simply chooses to solve SURFING THE BIGGEST WAVES EVER. He has no money, but he has a trip to Hawaii (Sheratone Keauhou Bay) worth $9,000! Dud: O (Sanam), P (Nancy Maria) Nancy Maria: $15,950 Andre: $10,000 Sanam: $2,500 ==== $3,000 Toss-Up: Event _ A R E _ _ U S E _ A _ _ Sanam solves WAREHOUSE SALE. Round 4: Phrase Final Spin is $1,500. _ N / M _ / _ _ M _ _ _ _ _ _ N _ _ N For $7,500, Sanam does a pretty good job at solving, IN MY HUMBLE OPINION. Duds: S (Nancy Maria), T (Andre) End totals: Nancy Maria: $15,950 Andre: $10,000 Sanam: $13,000 ==== $100,000 Bonus Round Nancy Maria lands on the one-star between AMERICA'S and GAME. Her puzzle is Phrase, and we even get a question mark this time! _ _ N / _ / _ _ _ E _ / _ _ _ ? C, F, V, I give her… C _ N / I / _ _ V E _ / _ _ _ ? She gets CAN I HAVE A… but she won't be asking Pat, " CAN I HAVE A HUG?", so she loses the CC. $5K EVERY DAY SPIN ID: LF1242538 Corrected spelling of Sanam's last name. Thanks email address in profile!

I was totally stumped on the last word of the BR too. My only guess was JOB. "Hug" isn't even in my vocabulary.
Sanam did pretty well, but she seemed to have some decent competition, judging from the scores. When $10,000 is third place, you're doing all right.

Tossups: I got the first one correctly, even though it could've been NORTHEAST ASIA. As for the second one, that looked familiar to me -- it was used for a puzzle on the second episode of the season. Sanam, did you really think there'd be such an item called a WISHING BOWL? I LOLed at that guess. R1: Great round for Nancy Maria. R2: I wish you went for the D's, Sanam. R3: That's a shame the sole dud vowel cost you any chance at that smart car. R4: Nice solve, Sanam! $13K is a decent total for your upcoming wedding! Some pretty expensive trips and Nancy's R1 was all she needed to win this game. BR: I had it w/ RSTLNE, though I wasn't sure. BGHO would have done it. And I think Nancy Maria wasted that I. EPISODE RATING: 6 out of 10

R2: Great job, Sanam. R3: Ugh, more terrible Prize Puzzle writing...and poor Sanam. You were better off without a Smart Car anyway. R4: Excellent solve, Sanam!. Too bad the Prize wedge was a bit too expensive today. BR: The question mark should be a good clue...but all her choices except the F were wastes, and of course she only fills in what she already knew. -__- I know it would break the theme, but the Prize Puzzle and wedge trips should have been switched. The unguaranteed one should be the more expensive, and we're all sick of Hawaii. Those three or so people in the audience reacting to Sanam getting the second 1/2 Car tag was the biggest non-MDW audience reaction for any spin all this week...And they should have groaned when she lost out on the car with the dud O. We were the only ones who felt bad for her. Nancy was like a human waterbed, not standing still. She talked too much, too... Sanam, you played the best you could, and you did manage to come out with a nice finishing total. We're all very proud of you! Oh, and I submitted several "Ask Pat & Vanna" questions. They better pick one soon. Rating: 3/5 (Don't want to be biased here. If I hadn't known Sanam, I wouldn't have enjoyed watching this episode much.) Average Rating For This Week: 2.8

This didn't really feel like an all 5-digit game - since Hawaii and all decided to be the highest trip of the week in a freak move - but technically it was one, and that is always at least decent.
It can be argued Sanam got the best deal tonight, since her cash % was 100, while the others were under 50%. She however also got the rawest deal in R3, when she would have turned around the game and but locked up a chance at a reasonable-ish BR. It's worth saying again after this - the producers are playing vowel-conscious contestants to hit that one non-U dud and save them a few bucks every now and then. It's something you should be wary of when the puzzles aren't particularly long.
As for the speed-up... Sanam exhausted all the sparse multiples and needed two more, so she was plainly stuck. Not that she thought to try to wait and try to scrounge for more (on $1900, which it almost was, one more would have won the game)... it seems that's something only a few of us on here could really prepare for and execute on the show. (Which bothers me immensely still, but I think it's time to come to terms with it.)
Now, back to that BR... that was a curious one. A real excuse-me PHRASE, whatever... but we're still being nice on some common calls like C & H. However, this was very, very oddly played... I as a trap vowel I'm not surprised to see called, but why V? She literally guessed both GIVE and HAVE, so I assume she realized it ended in -VE, so I'm not seeing where she thought it would benefit elsewhere.
This wasn't the worst 1/5 week ever, I'll give it that. It was still somewhat of a letdown though, and we still haven't hit 40+ yet. Onto greener pastures...

Good points Mario. Sanam definitely got the shaft on the show. She by far played the best out of everyone. She also has the best personality as well.

The following comments have been rated "S" for Sanam... Toss-Ups: Nice try on the second one, even if it wasn't right. At least you were in position to start the Trip Puzzle round later, even if you ended up in a deficit early. Nice job picking up the last one too. R1: I got this as the E's were coming up - big puzzle makes it easy to read out. Tough luck having to sit on the sidelines and watch this round go by. R2: Awkward positioning of that puzzle with the one short word on a line by itself. Pretty short and multiple-free, but good job getting on the board with $2,500 - no False Dignity Thousand for you! R3: Bad luck picking the only dud vowel... normally O is a good pick but tonight it's a car-coster. Andre should've spun for the triple G at least, but he decided to play it soft. R4: I got this with just the N's, right before your buzzer. Luckily, it comes back around and nets you $7,500 more, for a total of thirteen grand! Still, I have to think of what might have been if you'd locked in the car... just ouch. Bonus: I was thinking of JOB for the last word. Oh well. Overall: Could've gone a lot better for you, Sanam, but $13,000 (well, more like $7,800 after the IRS hits) isn't bad! The episode itself gets a 7/10.

Sanam, that was a nice comeback at the end even though you didn't quite make it over the top in the maingame. Nice that everybody finished the maingame in five figures.
Not nice for the BR to be lost when at least the H's weren't called. I knew it w/ RSTLNE.

Well...it's finally over - all those days of kicking myself for calling that damn O...
SOUTHEAST ASIA - I was so nervous I wasn't even going to try.
INTRO - I stuttered like 5 times, and so did Pat when he said "fiance".
WISHING BOWL - I thought it was FISHING BOWL and the W came up RIGHT when I clicked the buzzer. Oh well. BTW, did you guys notice that Andre's buzzer wasn't working? He clicked several times before Nancy Maria buzzed in.
R1: Great round for Nancy Maria. She literally won the game by just solving one puzzle.
R2: I know I could have spun again...but I really needed to solve a puzzle at this point.
R3: So, so, so sad. Ugh. I could have had it all! I'm still so bummed about this. BUT...if anyone deserved it, I think Andre did. I'm happy he gets to go to Hawaii.
WAREHOUSE SALE - Yay! I finally got a toss-up!
R4: I had it with the Ns, but not until it was Nancy Maria's turn. At that point I figured it out, which was why I picked M - I knew that was the only doubler left. If only Pat had gotten as far as the $5k!!!
And that was the end of my debut. It went by wayyyyyy too fast. But I was really surprised that I had $13k.
BR - Honestly, I was really surprised she called V. Right away I knew it was "CAN I HAVE A..." before she called her letters. I had it before the timer was out. She definitely should have called H. BTW - This either makes her the 3rd or 4th person (don't remember exactly) to pick the CC all week!
Well...I feel a lot better since everyone is saying I didn't do too bad. I'm still pretty rough on myself.
Last but not least...none of us hit Bankrupt or LAT during the entire episode!

As I said on the live chat, Nancy comes across as a Wheel contestant on a sitcom. (EDIT: Forgot the "Dafuq?" for WISHING BOWL. We {or at least I} made that into a running gag after you left the chat.) Yet another crappy Trip Puzzle, now for something that accounts for nine-tenths of Andre's winnings. That shouldn't happen! Sanam...what can I say? You played the best game, but still lost. BTW, did you guys notice that Andre's buzzer wasn't working? He clicked several times before Nancy Maria buzzed in. Yes, I did. And notice how Wheel didn't care.

$13K is still a nice chunk of change, Sanam...nothing to go home crying about at all. But you still get the obligatory "dafuq" for WISHING BOWL...and you can expect a new header next week. We did notice Andre's buzzer not working...we were gonna ask you about it. Did the show do nothing to rectify this?

No - I remember hearing him clicking but didn't put the pieces together and then forgot about it. He never said anything either. So much going on at that point. Nerves are jumbled, etc. Although you can bet if it happened to me I would have stopped the show! Poor Andre. Wonder what coulda woulda shoulda.

But even so, didn't they watch the show when in post-production? Did they not notice his buzzer not working? I know by then it'd be a bit late after the fact, and there wouldn't be much they could do, but at the very least, if I were in charge, and I noticed it, I'd be adding an extra $2000 cash to the check the show's cutting him... As you said, woulda coulda shoulda. Too late now, the damage is done. And don't kick yourself too hard over the dud O purchase...O is normally a good purchase. Better than E half the time. Just didn't work that one time, but that's the way the letters fall sometimes.

They had us practice using them before each tossup to make sure they worked. Also, is it just me or did Pat maybe want me to win, just a little? One can hope, at least.

I was very excited to see you tonight, Sanam! ;D And you looked very pretty as well! TU2: Sorry to see you miss that. Also, I did notice that Andre's buzzer wasn't working. That's really unfortunate. If only they had caught it then and there, they probably should've done another Toss-Up. R1: That was a nice round for Nancy Maria! R2: Yay, you're on the board now, Sanam! ;D R3: I felt my heart drop when you lost your turn. I'm really sorry about that. I am happy for Andre, but I wanted you to win that round so bad! R4: Great solve, Sanam! Even though you weren't the big winner, $13,000 is still a really nice total! BR: I had no idea what the last word was. I think BGHO definitely would've worked here. Overall, You did a fantastic job, Sanam! You are definitely one of the best contestants Wheel has ever had, and I really enjoyed watching you play!

I guess ultimately it's up to the contestant to object. It's possible he didn't click it fully, but that's probably grasping at straws.
