Ooh... This might be very interesting indeed, the Express wedge.

I also don't think this would be as bad budget wise as some people think. For one, there might only be a few consonants left so it wouldn't be a major hit. Also, if there's still a half car or your opponent has a full car or an unsolved MDW, you're saving their budget by taking those out of play (although just thinking, those opposite situations could happen also).

The guaranteed prize encourages solving as soon as possible. Also, if there's still a half car or your opponent has a full car or an unsolved MDW, you're saving their budget by taking those out of play (although just thinking, those opposite situations could happen also). Except cash always costs money. Removing a car from play does nothing for that. I think Express could be a budget-saver, given the general crappiness of Trip Puzzles.

That doesn't mean the PP will always stay at round 3. It could very easily move to R1 now. 2. Cars cost money in general also. When's the last time someone declined a car when they can very easily resell it for a tidy amount? I'd rather give Player 1 $5K-10K for going express than giving Player 2 a ~$15K car if he/she has both half keys.

If we can get information from our local Vegas correspondent (when they clear it, of course!) what rounds the Express Wedge and Prize Puzzle are, that'd be great. I'm really doubtful about them being in the same round—it would break the recent trend of one special mechanic per round—and I disagree with its round placement if that's the case, too.

We can definitely confirm that at least two shows have Express and the PP both in R3.

There's no doubt. R1 is just barren.

Question: When you choose to take a ride on the "Express," do you have to keep going until you solve or can you stop at any time? I'm a bit confused by it at the moment...

Once you opt to take it, the Express can't end until the player either solves or does something wrong.

I think I'm really gonna like this new "Express" wedge. A great replacement for the outgoing Jackpot wedge.

I think I'm really gonna like this new "Express" wedge. A great replacement for the outgoing Jackpot wedge. I should point out that two tweets mentioning Express (including one from Georgie of this nature) were favorited by Wheel's Twitter, so those are the first indirect confirmations of Express from their PR.

Let's see...I know the Express Wedge can be used to buy vowels (was stated earlier in this thread), but can you use the Wild Card on it?

There's no way we're going to know for sure until it's tried, which may not happen at all anytime soon.

Let's see...I know the Express Wedge can be used to buy vowels (was stated earlier in this thread), but can you use the Wild Card on it? As in, can you decline the Express but use the Wild Card for another $1,000 consonant? I would imagine so, considering the official rules say you can use the Wild Card after a Free Play (but only for a $500 consonant) and after declining the Mystery Wedge (but you don't get a second decision to flip it over, of course). I doubt anyone would ever do that, but I don't see why it's impossible. And I would guess if it did happen, they wouldn't be given a second option to go for the Express and had to take another normal turn. I actually asked our source this and they said they don't know. They didn't even know for sure if you were allowed to use the card on anything other than the top value. They meant to ask about it (in case they ever thought there would be a good opportunity to use it on $900), but forgot.

Empty studio ready for New Year's week... And more importantly... I found a picture of Express! Not the best quality, though...

That Express Wedge looks rusty. Is it supposed to resemble a dirty train?

It's an electronic wedge. It probably wasn't plugged in yet.

Here's a closer approximation of Express based on that picture... EDIT: See page 16 for a better version.

Might be an unpopular opinion but I greatly prefer Express to the Jackpot, at least for now based on description alone. We'll see how it holds up in action but for now I'm pretty excited to see this.
